On me, this fragrance is a simple, light wood/resinous scent. It is very subtle, as it was designed to be. It smells similar to sandalwood but lighter, without any oils; the papyrus actually is the most dominant note on me.
I actually get a semi-sweetish hint of mummies? Is that possible? It is reminiscent of the Mummy movies and... Luxor, the British museum. Very kitch classic, almost a cult smell on me. It really is nice, and classy, not dirty at all, although the mummy type papyrus smell is quite noticeable, and the most descriptive way I can sum up the way it smells.

For some reason this perfume never quite smells the same on me. Not that I'm complaining, since almost all of its iterations are charming and unique. It generally lasts about 3-5 hours on me, which was much longer than I expected given the reviews, and it really seems to thrive in hot weather.

Very unusual herbal/resinous fragrance with geranium. Luckily I didn't get any juniper berry. What Diptyque L'Eau Trois wishes it were, instead of the BO it actually is.

It has to be said again, skin chemistry is a funny thing. I wanted this to be incense and myrrh, juniper and geranium...I ended up with rose. It's a bright, sweet rose, tart and slightly minty, with lotus to sweeten it, but I get no incense or resinous notes at all. cumin is thankfully absent, but so is Papyrus. It's very nice and I understand all the rave reviews, but I have to pass on this one as it's really just another middle-weight rose on me.

Once again Olivia Giacobetti has done it! This is one of the most subtle sensual skin fragrances that is done in the "Giacobettian' style. Soft, earthy, always enough and never too much in one word 'ethereal. ' Ms. Giacobetti has a way of capturing all the earth elements of fire, earth, water and air and turning them into unique melanges of magical fragrances. Eau Egyptiene starts with egyptian musk wrapped in earthy, herbaceous lush notes that ride a wave of cool watery elements of lotus blossom and rose petals. In the background a little dash of cinnamon and spice gives Eau Egyptiene a warm fire element that balances out this elixir. Yes there is cumin in the blend, but it's very subtle and adds a silky quality. It's a well crafted and unique scent that captures the spirit and essence of Egypt and remotely transports you into the fertile delta of the Nile. Wonderful.... and I am proud to own a bottle.

Perfect skin scent. Reminds me a bit of Passage d'Enfer. Soft, woody, incensey, but with a soapy-clean dollop at the end which is soft and, well, cuddly. Soothing, comforting, and cozy. A flannel nightie of a scent.

Eau Egyptienne is a great fragrance, but I wish the lasting power was a bit better. It opens with dry incense and fresh, slightly sweet juniper berries, warming into a spicy rose heart. There is a light floral-watery note in there that lingers throughout, making this quite a bit lighter than most incense-based fragrances. I also smell a fresh mint note that gives this fragrance a nice edge, plus a warm, spicy base that gives EE depth. I like it! Notes include: lotus flower, rose, mint, lentiscus, incense, myrrh, papyrus, jasmine, juniper, geranium & cumin.

It's been a quite a while since I ordered a sample and HAD to have a full bottle. Most fragrances just aren't unique enough for me and yes I am VERY picky. I am so impressed with this gorgeous fragrance. It is spicy, fresh, feminine and unique. At first, I can smell cinnamon which I adore. It also has lotus flower and it seems that the notes mingle in and out throughout the day. Usually you would think of a spicy fragrance for winter but this is seasonless. It is a body mist however so it isn't very strong but I can spray it in the morning and still smell it that afternoon. It is truly a beautiful scent which deserves more recognition. EDIT: I have been wearing this alot lately and I love it more each time. It is unlike any fragrance that I have tried and I have tried too many to mention. Beautiful and unique.

I agree with Maximina. I think this smells so fresh and yet just a little woodsy. I would also love it on a man, but this is a rare masculine fragrance that I would wear myself. It’s clean and earthy--very soft(subtle, as someone else mentioned). And though the lasting power really isn‘t great, I like this much better than APPP(Andrée Putman Préparation Parfumée) and most of the other fresh and earthy scents I’ve tried (though I admit that the number I’ve tried is small). $60 for 100ml of this doesn't sound to bad...to spray in my hair on a beautiful summer day. I think that would be the best way to go because Cinq Mondes eau Ègyptienne is rather fleeting on the skin. Ms. Giacobetti is so talented...

I cannot even believe the terrible reviews this one has received. It is nearly holy grail for me and is clearly a wearable incense. When first applied I get a strong woody/cedar thing which immediately morphs into spices and incense. Cumin and clove are predominant notes for me and I can't even begin to think how amazing this would smell on any man, swoon! The dry down is somewhat minty and soapy. GORGEOUS!! I agree with other reviewers though that even though the notes are lotus flower, rose, mint, lentiscus, incense, myrrh, papyrus, jasmine, juniper, geranium & cumin you don't detect all of those but that's ok with me, it's DIVINE and a MUST-HAVE. (I should add that it is too bad it has lasting power of 2 seconds though hence why only a score of 4.)

This was a nice enough perfume - reminiscent of Costes and Preparation Parfumee. Unfortunately, the dry down began to smell a bit like tiger balm on me. And while I really like the menthol smell of tiger balm, I don't think that all my coworkers would enjoy that scent wafting around the office. ;)

After sniffing this in the sample vial, I liked it immediately. It's an incense fragrace but is unusually light compared to most fragraces with incense. On my skin, however, I thought it was pleasant but basically uninteresting. I still get the incense, and a bit more musk. Honestly, I expected more, given the variety of notes, but it's really just a pretty straightforward musk scent, very similar, in my opinion, to Keiko Mecheri's Musc.
