I got the Heavenly Bodies Buttercream as a sample last week when I dropped by LUSH to pick up a few bubble bars. The sales associate informed me that Heavenly Bodies has actually been discontinued. So a word to the wise, if you are in love with this soap, snap it up while you still can.
As for me, LUSH's buttercreams are one product that I desperately want to love, but always end up feeling very "blah" about. I had previously received a sample of the Lemslip Buttercream the last time I was in, and I actually prefer that one over Heavenly Bodies. At least I could manage to get some lather out of Lemslip. Heavenly Bodies did not lather at all. I know that the buttercreams aren't supposed to lather very much, but at least the Lemslip lathered a little. It is very difficult to be sure that you are really getting yourself clean when the soap pretty much disappears on your body/bath poof. I nearly used my whole sample in one shower because I kept desperately trying to work it into my bath poof and get it to do something...anything! But it would just leave a weird brown film on my poof, then disappear completely once it got anywhere near my body.
The scent was pleasing at first...very yummy. A deep, woodsy/earthy chocolate fragrance. But after a while it became almost too much, to the point where the smell kinda bothers me now.
I feel that the buttercreams are pretty over priced for what you get, as well. I think they are nice in theory, but fall short in performance. Glad that I only ever tried this one as a sample.

In NZ we sell the buttercreams like a slice of cake not in a pot so i think because my piece had been sitting out for awhile it was 'cured' and was quite solid. It didn't really foam was nice and moisturing, has the same scent as Sonic Death Monkey (discon'd). Upset my eczema (which I was hoping it wouldn't do) probably because of the citrus. I will use my chunk up.Think this has now been discon'd too.
EDIT - used this with Curly Wurly Shampoo. Smelled AMAZING!

Bought this at our FIRST Lush visit- Thought it was expensive but would be a treat to use. In the store I only smelled chocolate. Used it in the shower the first time tonight- This time I got chocolate and Root beer? Very strange.... all the reviews said lemon and citrus- but some reason all I smelled was root beer. Anyway- generally dissapointed at the moisturizing aspect of this- i had to put on lotion after the shower which is unusual for me- usually i use moisturizing soaps that do not leave my skin requiring lotion. won't repurchase.

I was really excited to try out this product, because my skin is really dry and flaky in the winter and I have a hard time finding a moisturizing shower product.
What I like:
- the smell, very pleasant, not strong, chocolatey and a little bit orangey
- it moisturized my skin really well, no flakyness and also no oily residue
Don't like:
- the price, way too high, I got a pretty big sample (maybe around 20g, which is one fifth of a full one - 100g) and it only lasted me about 5 times. I wasn't waisting it, I went on my skin once or twice with it and that is all.
- the way it slips out of your hands, I dropped it in the shower at least 3-4 times, very very slippery.
Overall, good product, I like the idea and how my skin feels after but not worth the money. I wish they did it in a different formula, not like a bar of soap, maybe get it a little more liquidy and put it in a bottle.
It does not lather, but I was fine with that, I wasn't expecting it since it is 80% oils.
I'd swap for it and maybe get a sample, but it is not worth the full price since it does not last that long.

Weird stuff to me! Shouldn't have bought that online because I wouldn't have bought this in a shop anyway. Doesn't smell as nice as you might expect. It also melts very fast, which is a total downside, as bathrooms always are warm places. I'm refusing to get it in the fridge, cause I wouldn't like to get a cold-shock in the shower afterwards.
It moisturizes and does its job - but it's nothing special at all.
Won't buy again!

I really like this product. It smells like chocolate orangy goodness. The batch I got was harder than the Lemslip thus making it easier to use and didn't melt as fast. It seemed to do a good job of cleaning and moisturizing my skin. I would recommend this to people who like chocolate orange scented bath products and don't mind the lack of lather of these.

Chocolate, Orange, lemon...sounds like a dessert right? I was thinking this would smell so wonderful like some sort of French pastery. Boy, was I wrong. This smell like chemicals mixed with more chemicals. Nothing about the scent was appealing. It melts super fast, comes in a crappy container, is hard to use because it doesn't lather and its expensive! Unless you want to be sorely disappointed, pass on this!

Heavenly Bodies isn’t one of my favorite Lush products. I find that it smells a little chemically and not much chocolaty. I definitely won’t repurchase. Not what I was expecting at all. Don’t waste your money on this.

This did NOT lather at all. It broke off really badly in the shower and was really annoying to wash with. I would not purchase and VERY happy it was a sample I was using. The smell was divine, but I like lather.

This is the first Lush product I've ever used. It is what they call a "buttercream" - much richer and softer than their regular soaps. I have weird skin - terribly dry and itchy over most of my body except chest and back, which is oily and acne prone, and oily and sensitive on my face. Needless to say, you would never use this on your face, unless your face is dry as sand and you don't mind strong scents on your face. I used this for 3 weeks so far, with a buf puf in areas needing exfoliation and a washcloth in other areas. It has very little lather, which I don't mind. For the body, the smell is really nice (chocolate orange with a definite vanilla-tobacco note). It also is very moisturizing. I had no itchiness at all after using it, and my skin was much less dry. On the other hand, my chest started breaking out. Also, I have to cut off a piece about one inch square with a butter knife and take it into the shower w/o me in a small dish. If you take the whole chunk, it will turn into mud and you will ruin it. It is so slippery you can't put the piece on a rack, hence the need for a small dish. I find I use an entire one inch square piece every time I shower, because it dissolves so quickly and you have to smear gobs of it onto your cloth/puf. Be prepared for brown globs in your shower that look just like dog poo. The smell is so lovely that the appearance did not gross me out, but make sure you rinse all gobs out before the next person uses the shower, or could might freak. Overall, don't use on acne prone skin and handle carefully. If you like chocolate-orange-vanilla-tobacco scents, you'll love it. If you like an easy to handle bar, forget it. Also, it's very expensive. I would re-buy, but I would try one of Lush's regular bar soaps first, like Honey I washed the Kids.

This smells so much like Sonic Death Monkey. Same chocolate with a lime kick to it. Again, the butter cream texture is amazing...it really is like showering with butter or something. This one did not lather as much as the Emperor did. I think I will stick to Sonic Death Monkey though as its easier to use, and my skin actually feels better with SDM than with HB.

I got this a sample with a Lush order and I am very glad that I didn't have to pay for it. It leaves behind the awful soapy smell.

My wonderful swap partner just informed me that she's happy with her end, and so I immediately ran for her package, and grabbed the Heavenly Bodies buttercream I swapped for! I took a chunk of it, and noticed it smells like Tootsie roll, dirt, and oranges. And while I'm not usually a earthy/dirt fan, I will happily use this up!
It's one of those scents that when the boyfriend and everyone else are away, I'd use happily, because it's different, and covertly pleasant. I have similar feelings towards Karma by Lush.
When I used it on my hands, it left the pleasant notes, without any patchouli.
I'm giving it a weak 4, I probably wouldn't buy it , but I'd definitely swap for it again.
ETA: The lather is a virtually nonexistent, but you have to expect that from Lush buttercreams.

Been using this for a little over a week now and so far I do like this compared to shower gels which dry my skin out. I notice this does foam nicely if used with a body sponge. And after showering I still feel a film on my skin (but not in a bad way). I give it a 3 for a couple reasons... For one there's no LUSH where I live so therefore I have to order it online and pay $10 in shipping b/c they are based in Canada. And also because the bar melts the second your body heat touches it.
I hate that I have to cut the bar up and keep it away from the shower, otherwise it'll melt too quickly. And finally the cost is a tad high considering it doesn't last very long. I got a piece about the size of a Hot Pocket and it was $28. But even w/ the negatives, I can't wait to try the body butters next.

I received a large sample of this at LUSH today with my haul. Upon first smell, I'd say it smells like a dead ringer for 'Tootsie Rolls'. DEAD RINGER. Not that that is a bad thing - I just expected orange/chocolate smell. I like the smooth, buttery feeling against my skin, but the bit of it chunking off and falling to the shower floor does not make me ever want to fork out the $$$ for this (too much wasted product, it seems). It is quite expensive too! I really don't notice any moisture left on my skin either. The scent really didn't stick around on me long, but I did feel decadent using this for tub time. I really appreciate the sample the SA gave me but I do not think I will purchase this in the future. UPDATE/EDIT: Added another lippie. I really like this now... REALLY LIKE this... it's just too expensive. The best way IMO to store/use this is to keep it in the freezer and scoop (I use a teaspoon and make a little 'pat') out a bit each time you use it.

It's one of the more expensive buttercreams but truly TRULY wonderful! Very chocolately and the scent does actually last for a while on your skin - not too strong but enough so that if you're cuddling, it can be smelt if the other person leans against you.

i have a love-hate relationship with lush buttercreams. i love the concept of mooshing the buttery concotion all over my body and finishing with a bath poof. the reality isnt nearly as satisfying. theyre spot on when they say that buttercreams dont lather much because theyre so full of moisturizers. they are very moisturizing, but at the expense of leaving my skin feeling a bit waxy. its not an ideal sensation, but i can live with it. i enjoy the concept of slicing a bit off every time i want to use it.
heavenly bodies is my favorite of the lot (ive tried all but skinny dip. the scent exactly matches that of sonic death monkey shower gel. (the name is a reference to a line in the movie "high fidelity.") its a really yummy chocolate-orange-vanilla scent, and the chocolate isnt at all fakey. its the softest of the lot, which makes it impossible to slice neatly. the scent alone is worth it.

I give this a 3 somewhat feeling that maybe I'm being too generous. Part of me thinks that this deserves a 2, but then the other part thinks 3. Hmm. Onto what I thought, and I'll leave you to make up your minds. Firstly, I recieved this as a GWP when buying a large quantity of LUSH products- so I didn't actually pay anything. The size I recieved was very generous- probably too much for one use, but what the heck. I was a bit mystified on what this was and how to use it, so I did a bit of reading up, as the LUSH instructions/product descriptions on the packaging are always vague. It said that I just rubbed it on and rinsed off, and that I could chill it or freeze it. Ummmm... okay. I looked on their website and again, just said to rub onto myself and rinse. It was only when I came to MUA I realised it was a cleanser for the body thats meant to be more gentle than soap! Anyway, I used this in the bath, as I didin't think it would make much difference. The smell was amazing- Terry's Chocolate orange! Yum! I squidged a bit of the buttercream onto me, and.. well- there wasn't any lather. Not only that but it was hard to mash up without bits crumbling everywhere- and in the shower that would be pretty wasteful! At least in the bath I could mash it all up so the water turned murky and I was bathing in chocolatey-orangey yumminess. It left my sensitive & VERY dry skin clean and not *too* dry. It was okay but I wouldn't repurchse- and I would definatley reccomend using this in the bath so you get the most out of it.

This product smells lovely, chocolately but clean at the same time. The orange notes are so sweet smelling you almost want to take a bite! There is a bit of sharp astringent-y smell to it, but it doesn't detract from the good smells. As others have noted, the scent does seem to change as the product ages. I split a small sized chunk with another swapper, and I am kind of glad that I didn't buy a whole chunk myself! While the smell is absolutely divine, it is an absolute mess in the shower! It crumbles away as soon as anything stronger than a rain drop hits it.
I've taken to completing a shower, and right before I get out smearing some of this cream on my chest and shoulders, then rinsing quickly. At least then the wonderful smell lingers for a bit.
