Love everything about this pencil. Great, unique taupe color with a hint of pink that really makes my blue eyes pop. Soft enough to use as an eyeshadow, applies without tugging as an eyeliner, but still stays put longer than most creamy pencils. You can smudge this before it sets and it looks as luminous when it's sheered out as when you apply it straight from the pencil. I won't say it's an 18-hour budge-proof pencil if that's what you're looking for, but it lasts all day on my upper lid without a primer or anything to set it and on my lower lid it stays if I top it with a little powder or eyeshadow. Harder to get this to stay on the waterline, but nothing stays on my waterline all day. For the colors these come in, the versatility, and the softness of this pencil, these are worth the extra $$. Surat is my second most-used color after Gold Reef.

First, let me say that I have this with the much softer sponge smudger end. (The old version had a hard smudger tip, which was aweful!!!)
This is a pretty rosey-tan with a bit of shimmer - a great alternative to white, beige or ivory. The creaminess of this allows it to apply easily, without pulling or skipping.
I use this shadow pencil as highlighter for my inner v / tearduct. It does smudge a bit, but so do most creamier e/s and liners on my oily lids. I set this with a bit of translucent face powder or matching e/s powder and it's not too bad.

I had a tough time coming up with a lipstick rating for Surat. I'm a big fan of Sue Devitt Eye intensifiers and while I think this color is pretty, the effect on my eyes as an eyeliner is pretty lacking. It's a glimmery, rosey, taupe/tan. On its own as an eyeliner it just doesn't do much for my eyes. I usually pair this with a darker intensifier like Zaire or Gold Reef or with one of my many black liners. But It does make for a really pretty and lasting eye shadow - I guess I'm just used to these eye intensifiers being more versatile that it disappointed me that I can basically only use this as an e/s and not a liner as well. Like other intensifiers, this doesn't smudge with normal wear, lasts all day and applies like a dream. I'm a warm-toned MMM with black hair and black eyes. Its expensive at $22 but I'd buy it again.

On my dark brown eyes, Surat plays as a neutral, medium rosey taupe with a touch of glimmer. The consistency is creamy and the pencil itself is easy to handle. I find I use Surat most when I need an easy "3 Minute Eye". I blend it on the upper lid over a wash of Stila's Kitten and take a quick swipe to the lower lash line. Mascara and brow gel - I'm out the door! I imagine this shade would work well for all eye colors/complexions - those with very dark skin may need to pair with another hue to get some punch, though. Also, I finally figured out how to deal with the scratchy smudger sponge we all seem to hate so much: (http://www.makeupalley.com/m_78403300).

i was very concerned about how chubby this pencil was? but this product has so much hype behind it, i had to try it! i loved the assortment of colors, just unsure which one would look good on me, that popular shade looks so coppery? so i chose surat and it is beautiful color of gray-ish tan... my first thoughts was it is so creamy and too light as a eyeliner. after some practice i learned to love the look and in some lights this color looks perfect as everyday eyeliner! i am excited to buy one that is darker...we'll see how that goes! oh thanks- to the person w/ great idea of refridgerating your pencil before sharpen-saved a lot of the pencil!!!

I love these pencils. They are so easy to use. You just draw on a line and smudge. You don't have to be an eyeliner expert, any mistake will be blended away and it'll look perfect every time. I love using the eye intensifiers when I'm in a rush and need to get out the door quickly. It makes your eyes look finished in just one step. Just add a bit of mascara and your done. These pencils are also good if you really want to go glam and do a dramatic smokey eye. They are a bit steep at $22 per pencil but they're definitely worth it. They are super long lasting and the color selection is really nice. Surat is a cool taupey brown with beautiful shimmer. My coloring: Light warm olive, dark brown hair and eyes.

I bought this because I liked the unique color (similar to Chanel Vega-good comparison)and the creamy consistency. I usually use BB gel liners or LM cake liners but I really enjoy using this pencil. I can smudge it on my lid as an eye shadow and it really stays put until I take it off. I don't like to wear a lot of makeup on my eyes so this is appeals to me as being both a liner and a shadow. Now I want to get more of these eye intensifiers!

I describe this as a bronzey-taupe. Easy to draw on as all over lid color. Not as precise for a strict lash liner and I prefer to use a little brush to dab pencil then line. A bit smudgey, not all day lasting but that is sort of the point of this pencil. It's fast and easy and not precise.
The sponge for blending is too stiff and scratchy for me.

I bought this eyeliner based on the four reviews below (well actually based on the first three reviews because the fourth review wasn't yet written when I bought this :)), and I am SO glad I did. I LOVE it. It's the best eyeliner I've ever used, and it has become my holy grail. It doesn't smudge. It glides on smoothly. It lasts all day. It's just fabulous all the way around. I was surprised at how easy it is to use since it is chubbier than all other eyeliners I own. The color is great for my coloring. I'm a very fair PPP with blue-gray (grayer than blue) eyes. Now that I've fallen in love with this -- my first ever Sue Devitt purchase -- I will for sure be buying the Eye Intensifiers in other colors as well as trying other Sue Devitt products. And I will not be without this eyeliner in this color.

I just bought this and I am already in love. It works wonderfully for a FFF w/blonde hair and blue eyes. It is a really soft color (a shimmering tan/taupe color) that I have been looking for since so many colors are too dark for me! I use it as a crease color and liner. The best part is that it stays put and is still exactly where I put it at the end of the day! Edit: Yesterday the SA at MAC tole me my eye makeup was gorgeous, and I was wearing this! Now if that doesn't sell you on it, I don't know what will!!!

This product is my absolute favorite eyeshadow. I know it's sold as a liner but I find it too soft and big to line with and the color too light. I blend it all over my eyelid with my finger and then line with a darker brown/bronze shade. Highly recommend it.

Another Sue Devitt product that I am smitten with..I love the eye intensifiers..they glide on, stay on and don't smudge. Surat is really a unique color and has both bronze and taupe tones ..it looks great with blue/green eyes and would probably work for brown and hazel eyes as well. It is like a shimmerry kicked up neutral..unique but not over the top, so still "office" friendly...I would defintiley purchase this again and as with all the eye intensifiers I have tried, great quality! For ref, I am a PPP Redhead with blue/green eyes.

I am a big fan of the Sue Devitt eye intensifiers. For a pencil, they are IMO, the best on the market. They are super soft, easy to blend and smudge, dont tug the eye area. Its a big chubby pencil with a sponge on one end. These last almost all day with very minimal smudging. I like these better than MAC powerpoints but not as much as my BB gel liners in a pot. Surat is noted on sephora.com as a shimmery bronze but this reminds me of a shimmery silvered taupe shade reminiscent of Chanel Vega but its a little lighter. The color is stunning to look at but it goes on a little light on my eyes. I wish it went on a little darker. Other than that its still pretty. Retails for $22.
