I've been using this on & off for the past 12 yrs or so. Reason why I stop every so often is because I like to try new products fr other companies. I think over the yrs the formulation has changed, I prefer the older formula, it seemed richer. I think the scent of it is what I am addicted to. It has no spf so I make sure I have added protection during the day

As with trying out Aveda products, I bought this as part of the set and was again not too happy with it. The lotion is really thin and soft. It has a nice smell to it but once you put it on your face, I don't feel like it's soaking up into my skin or that it's making my skin feel soft or hydrated. I feel like it's not doing much to make my skin any better and in fact I started noticing dry patches on my skin from not being hydrated enough with this moisturizer.
I usually like to see any type of improvement to my skin after using face products but after three months of using this, I haven't seen any improvements. I'm really disappointed by their products and probably won't use it again. It's expensive and doesn't do the job.

It seems to me Aveda is getting cheaper and cheaper with their products. I was really disappointed with their new packaging for the whole botanical kinetics line, used to be heavy class bottles which looked expensive and high end, now it is lousy plastic. The moisturizer itself got thinner and thinner over the years; the formula is different and more watery then before. It used to be a pretty decent lotion and well priced considering how much you actually get. But not any more, I don't think I will buy it again I will try Trilogy Energizing lotion after i run out of Aveda.

I really like this lotion. It is very lightweight. In fact, I'd call it featherweight. Feels so clean and sheer on my skin. It reduces the oily t-zone I have during the day. My makeup stays true to color all day. So fresh and breathable. Love it! I wish it had spf, but if it did, it would probably not be so light and sheer. I do wear an spf 15 powder foundation, so I suppose that's okay. I really like that it has natural ingredients and is good for my skin. My skin looks smoother and has a nicer tone and clarity since using this twice a day. I wear this alone in the morning under my makeup, and at night I use "Dr Denese ProC Illuminating Cell Defense Pads" first, followed by this Aveda lotion. My pores look smaller and overall my skin looks more healthy, clear and radiant. I also use the "Aveda Green Science Firming Eye Cream". I think next time I am going to buy the big bottle of this lotion, because I think it's a keeper. Good stuff.

Love this stuff!
Pros:
lightweight
dries quickly...I apply makeup right after moisturizer
pump dispense (HATE jars I have to dip into)
Aveda-ish/spa smell - LOVE this
Cons:
Slightly pricey, but not too bad for a higher end moisturizer
Not creamy, if you need serious moisturizing
Just started using this about 2 weeks ago. I bought the smaller bottle, $33, I think? I will buy the big boy next time and use it to refill the smaller bottle.
This is almost a HG moisturizer for me. I've been bouncing around trying various moisturizers for the past few years. L'Occitane is awful under make-up (IMO), Chanel is too $$$$, Clinique yellow gel (not lotion) doesn't excite me. I had been using Philosophy Hope in a Tube (not in a jar - hate dipping in and getting lotion under my nails - and it just seems plain unsanitary).
I think this moisturizer is a really good everyday product for run of the mill skin - I'm not crazy dry, I'm not oily. Just like to give my skin a little drink before I put on my makeup...esp in winter months.

Perfect light-weight lotion for dry and combination skin. I've been using this as a basic moisturizer for daytime under makeup. It smells amazing and soaks right in. It doesn't contain SPF, so you'll want to use a foundation containing sunscreen or a separate sunscreen over the lotion.
I might add that I turned my 75 year old Mom on to this stuff and she loves it. She has extremely sensitive, dry skin and this leaves it velvety soft. It won't do much in terms of treatment, but is a fabulous basic moisturizer and very light. It works well all year round, too!

I have been having regular Aveda facials (2x month) and so I got lots of skincare too from there to use at home- this lotion, a cleanser and the tourmaline charged radiance fluid (thats just AMAZING) I was a little worried that aveda wouldnt suit my skin, i thought the whole ''natural ingredients etc'' stuff would just either not do anything at all, or really break me out. But my skin has never looked better. I use the radiance fluid first, wait a min (it sinks in very quickly) and then apply this. I have combination skin and this is amazing. Most heavy creams are just too heavy for me and make my foundation slide off and most lotions are just not moisturising enough for the winter but this is truely wonderful. I apply a generous amount in the cold winter months and i love it. My make up smooths on so easily too ( ive bought expensive creams in the past only to find out my foundation just doesnt want to blend after, or flakes off etc etc) with this i have no problems at all. Im really happy and cant see myself changing my skin care routine at any point. I have used clarins, estee lauder, clinique ALL rubbish and harsh on my skin and dried it out. aveda is really amazing

I was never much of a "moisturizing the face" kind of person. I have such oily skin, that when I would moisturize at night before bed I would wake up to almost my pillow case stuck to my face. Bad visual I know, lol. So I would just miss that step completely in my skin care routine, which I know doesn't help my oily situation. But ... after my sister introduced me to the aveda skin care line I have seen quite the improvement in my skin. This is definitely the cherry on top of my skin care routine. It makes my skin feel fantastic, smells amazing and I wake up to no oil. Great job Aveda. The only downside is that it's expensive! I live in Canada and its costs nearly 50 bucks ... blah, but a little goes a long way.

I generally like this product (as I'm using it now), but usually all the Aveda facial products don't moisturize enough and the formulas are all WAY too THIN!!! I live in Canada where it's cold and my skin gets super dry, but I think they should make a thicker lotion...does NOTHING for my flakes when I put on a thin layer...I need to apply a lot!!! The moisturizer smells pretty pleasant...not to fragrant, but still earthy enough. Overall, it's decent.

I wanted to like this, my friend uses it and her skin always looks beautiful. I just felt that it really didn't do anything for me and my skin remained flaky.
Love the packaging, love the scent, but I've found Aveda hair and skin products to be far too drying for me. Botanical Kinetics line may be really good for an oilier skin type.

I love this product. I would say in areas of my face/neck where I need moisture, it is a perfect moisturizer. I have an oily T-zone, so normally I use acne scrubs there, but on my cheeks and neck I use this and it makes those areas EVER-SO-SOFT once its soaked in. :) The packaging is great too, the pump is extremely convenient, not to mention the colour of the bottle is pretty too. :) I love the green they chose. It feels great when I'm putting it on, its really silky and goes on to skin smoothly, no hassle.
I recommend this product to all. :) I am not dissapointed with it in the least.

Age: 19-24 Skin: Dry, Fair-Medium Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown
Pros:
light, cooling, refreshing feel
sinks right into skin
fresh herbal scent-- very "Aveda"
gentle ingredients
long shelf-life for a natural product (2 years)
hygienic, no-mess pump
great price (only works out to $6.40/oz)
.
Cons:
very thin
need 2 pumps to hydrate drier skin
doesn't actually change/improve complexion
.
This is a gentle, refreshing moisturizer for those who want something more natural than mainstream brands on a budget, as, per ounce, it works out to ~ the same price range as drugstore brands. It is probably good for most skin types except extremely dry skin, as it is pretty thin and light. My skin is on the dry side, and I usually need 2 pumps for adequate moisture after a hot shower or drying cleanser. It's just your everyday basic moisturizer. However, it feels and smells so refreshing that it's a joy to use and so long as I am on a student budget, I will happily buy it again.

This feels like a very light weight lotion but unfortunately for me it never really felt as if it got absorbed in my skin..just sat on top. As with all Aveda products I do love the fragrance and the green glass bottle. I now use it on my hands instead.

I had a facial at a spa that specializes in Aveda products. I was recommended this because I have dry skin and this stuff is like magic! When you pump it on your hands it's very lightweight and at first I didn't think it was going to give me enough moisture. Well I was wrong, infact I use this everyday, morning and night! I will repurchase this!

I was searching for a light face cream for the summer, and I saw some people recommended this product online. I've never tried Aveda's products, so I decided to give it a try. My skin is combination with dry on cheeks and oily t-zone, also very sensitive. The salesperson told me this is the lightest cream they have and is good for all skin types, but best for combination and oily skin. I've been using it day+night for a while now, absolutely love it! It's rather liquid than cream, but it doesn't give me the not hydrate enough kind of feeling, it keeps my skin perfectly moisturized for whole day long. I feel a little sticky when I apply on my face, but after about 1 minute or so, when the product is completed absorbed, my skin doesn't feel sticky anymore, only smooth and hydrated. Sum up, it's light, hydrating, easy to absorb, great cream for the summer. I hope it will also work very well in the winter days.

I was worried that this lotion is so runny and wouldn't be creamy enough for my combination skin in the winter/spring. I was totally wrong, it keeps my skin hydrated all day/night long. I have been using it with Botanical Kinetics Purifying Creme Cleanser and Intensive Hydrating Masque. I never felt better. I highly recommend it to anyone. I also really love the scent of this lotion, very light and refreshing!

I've been using this moisturizer for a few days shy of a month and I really love it. I use it in the morning and at night; it's not greasy, it smells great, doesn't break me out and leaves my skin feeling really soft and satiny. Whatever is left on my hands after I apply it, I just rub it into my arms. It's that good.
Tip for Mineral Makeup users: Right before I'm ready to put my makeup on in the morning, I use the moisturizer then let it air dry for a minute or two. I find that it helps the mineral makeup to cling to the skin better.
It also should be noted that Aveda is an eco-friendly company that doesn't test on animals.

I'm constantly trying out new skincare products - I hate moisturizers that leave me feeling greasy or (on the other end) contain a ton of silicone and leave me itchy and dry in the winter. This Aveda lotion absorbs well and leaves my face with the right amount of moisture. I may need something lighter for the humid summer months, but this is perfect for the other seasons. This product is also a fraction of the cost ($/oz) of most department store products I've purchased in the past.

Overall Rating: BAD coz it made me breakout like crazy
** I will never ever buy this product ever again **
Price: GOOD coz it's cheap
Packaging Quality: OK
I'm searching for a moisturizer that can take the place of my La Mer because honestly, it is just too expensive. I bought it two or three weeks ago because of this review that I watched on youtube. The girl loved the botanical kinetics moisturizer sooooo much that I decided to give it a try so I bought the whole line: cleanser, exfoliator, toning mist and hydrating lotion.
My face isn't bad. I do get occasional breakouts like during my period or something... but when I used the whole botanical kinetics line OMG. I couldn't believe my eyes. I just had waaaaay too much on my face. Stupid me - I did not stop using it right away. I tried a different cleanser with the botanical kinetics hydrating lotion but I just broke out even more. I finally stopped after a week and a half or so and then now my face is all clear again. I'm just happy my skin is a lot better now.
I gave everything away two days ago. I'm sticking to my La Mer.

My sister uses this and loves it and gave me some for Christmas. I love the way it smells and makes my skin feel soft but unfortunately it breaks me out. I gave it too lippies for the scent.
