Like most with curly hair that tends to me dull and dry, have tried soooo many gel products. (right now I am waiting for my BioSilk to arrive...)

So far, this is the best finishing product, though I use it differently than other reviewers.

I let my hair air dry, then I use a curling iron section by section (curling iron diameter varies depending on whether I want a straighter or curlier look).

So I apply a very, very small amount this gel to each section of hair -individually immediately before I use the curling iron on that section. I apply it moslty to my dry ends, but I do rub my fingers through the entire section. It adds an immediate sheen and the curl holds really went but is still soft. Some of my better condition hair underneath the top layers doesn't need it so I don't apply it there or it might be too heavy.

Looks great, even the next day.

Also, I had used this on 2 female friends (doing 'make overs') and it works for them also.

Cheap enough for other to experiment with.

Age: 30-35   Skin: Very Oily   Hair: Brunette   Eyes: Brown

This is my absolute favorite product, and the only thing that (a) keeps my wavy, prone to frizzy hair looking smooth, sleek and shiny, (b) isn't chock full of oil that would cause my oily skin to break out, and (c) will hold a curl without that sticky, crispy sensation on my head. If I use this product prior to blowdrying with rollers, I get soft, bouncy, flexible curls.

I read the negative review, and agree that the downside is that you have to go easy on this product - if you use too much of the product, you will have greasy hair, and need to start over. But it's "pilot error"; as a concentrate; we can't apply this as though an ordinary gel.

This has quickly become my HG product for my frizzy wavy hair. I rarely ever repurchase a hair product, always searching for the next best thing to control my frizzies. I will most definitely be repurchasing this. I use about a dime size or slightly larger amount for my just past the shoulders hair, using it only on the lower 2/3 of hair, not on the top. It could weigh down hair if you used it all over. It is the only product I've used that allows me to air dry and not have a frizz mop.

This review is for the concentrate gel. I love it it! Works like a charm when you do a blow out. I don't need a pomade or hairspray afterwards, this keeps everything down and shiny. I have thick wavy hair, so I can see someone w/ very fine straight hair having a problem with the texture. For me, it works and I've been using it since the mid-nineties.

...for me, this was a case of misrepresentation. See, my stylist used this on me once and my hair was bouncy, shiny, and managable. So of course I plunk down the 15$ or whatever to take this miniscule bottle home. The next time I tried to use it, I looked in the mirror and felt the urge to sing "Grease Lightning" out loud. Then, when I put it into the fridge (since my apt has no air/con in the bathroom and it is so goddam hot in there, my products cook) I was disgusted when I saw that the liquid had separated.. so you could really see the amount of oil in this product.
Basically from reading other reviewers' takes of this product, it seems it works great for frizzies, but do not buy it if you have greasy hair like moi!

Definately my HG of products that make hair behave. This smoothes down every little hair, and adds a glass-like sheen. Caution though; only use a little, or else your hair will look greasy and feel a little oily. Has a nice, neutral smell, and works very well on frizzies. All in all.. I'd day it's worth a try for anyone. :)

I am reviewing the curl enhancing gel.
This product is dissapointing.
I purchased it @ Nordstrom Rack for over $10. It doesnt do anything!
light- but too light to have any affect on my hair.
I have moderately thick wavy hair. I have applied it in diff ways to see if there are any changes the application method makes- wet hair, semi dry hair, only the ends, all over and put it back, etc. But this does nothing. I wish I could get my $13 back.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE OLD VERSION. Simply the best. I have used it for the past 5 years. It makes my hair shiny, freeze free and full of body. Problem, they have changed the formula now and I don't like it. It weighs down my hair. Why, why do they have to change such a great product????? I went out and bought two tubes of the old formulation. when they are finished, I will try to find a replacement from another brand, but not the new formulation.

My hairdresser used this on me, and it made my frizzy hir shiny, moistured and gorgeous. Kind of wet-look. I have used it ever since, and I just can't get the same result as she did. It gives a lot of shine, and tames frizz-for like an hour, and my hair is dry and frizzy again. Will keep on looking for something better.

I have long, thick, curly hair that can be dry, and I have relied on this product for at least the last 5 years to keep my hair under control. I actually mix it with the potion 9, but it is great on its own. It totally eliminates frizz (can be somewhat crunchy if you air dry). I never have a problem with greasiness; I can use a handful of this stuff and be great, but it is a pretty heavy gel that could easily weigh down your hair. I wouldn't use it if your hair tends to be oily. It is also great to use on hair that is already dry in place of a frizz serum. UPDATE: I no longer use silicones in my hair, so this has gotten the boot. Now I love AG: Recoil or Kiehls strong hold gel to tame my curls and frizz.

I have used this gel for a while. Maybe b/c a little goes a long way, maybe b/c it does not weigh my fine hair down, maybe b/c the little gold sparkles I like to see in the gel don't show up on my hair or fall from my bangs into my contacts, I dunno. All I know is that my hair is frizz free, even if I air dry. Holds incredibly! and works, works, works! Minus one lippie b/c it's a bit expensive.

Gives my wavy, frizz prone hair a sleek and shiny look. Use sparinglys and really smooth it through the hair from roots to ends. Wouldn't be without it.

I used this product for a few years and it created softness and shine. I tried other products in an attempt to find something cheaper, however, I switched back after realizing that I was just wasting money trying all different products that didn't seem to work half as well as Laminates. This gel is great for creating shine and has a soft hold, and works well with straightening irons.

Ug, this stuff left my hair so greasy and weighed down. Even if I use just a small amount of it, the silocones are too much for my fine straight hair.

This was okay. Made my hair shiny, but too greasy. I just can't use shine products in my hair. Always turns greasy. I've also tried Paul Mitchell Gloss Drops and a number from Tigi and decided my hair looks better without them.

Got a trial-size 1 oz. tube of this quite a while ago and while I almost never reach for it -- I have waaaay too many hair products right now -- I do like the managability and body it gives my usually fine, limp hair. Shiny and soft for days after I use this! If I somehow managed to lose all of my haircare products in a catastrophe, this would be something I would re-stock in the aftermath.

Oh, I just love this stuff. I have been using it for over 2 years, when I want a finished polished look after a blow out. I have straight hair and this is a great final touch up for frizzies, fly aways and just overall shine. I definetly will be buying this stuff again!

After my hairstylist recommended i try this product as a "last touch" to my styling routine, i ran out to the nearest beauty supply shop and picked one up. I really think their name for this product didn't necessarily refer to the standard "gel" product (the gunk that holds hair stiff!), but more of the texture of the product itself, which is goopy and gel-like. I have very long, straight hair, and definately get frizzies, and flyaways every so often. When using this, you can NOTICE RIGHT AWAY that they are tame, and i guarantee anyone that uses this will experience the same thing. I take a tiny, pea-sized dab in my palm, and rub it in between my hands...then pat it at my roots, and "pull" the product down through my hair. I LOVE IT!!!!!! I don't have much experience with the rest of the SEbastian line, but if i had money comin' out of my ears, i'd definately purchase the whole line just for fun ;) hahha, GREAT product, pretty good value considering you need SO little. Very impressed. The shine in your hair will be gleamin' :)

I used this for about a year. My hair is long, fine and super wavy, and this product did a great job defining curls. Except for one almost-new tube that split open, I loved this product. But then I realized it was making my back break out. I never had a zit on my back in my whole life until that year. I quit using it, and never broke out again.

I absolutely hated gel for years, probably because I was used to Dippity Do and other 80's gels that made my hair crispy and greasy-looking. But this past fall, I was desperate for something to smooth my fly-aways down, and a friend recommended Laminates gel to me. I have to say, the combination of this gel and Potion #9 have done wonders for my coarse, straight hair- the amount of frizz is significantly reduced, and my hair is definitely softer and shinier as well. This product is a little too expensive in my opinion, but I scored a bonus size tube (extra product for the same price) at Trade Secret and it will last forever, so I can deal with the cost.
