This is my "go to" polish when I know I'm coming into a big week at work, will be using my hands a lot, and don't want people noticing chipped nails. It's so frosty that a little tip wear can't be seen. With a couple coats, my nails just look well-groomed, but they don't draw attention, unless someone really notices and comments how the polish has two different colors (love those gay friends!)
Plus, it's so easy to apply that I can do a manicure myself, even with bad eyesigh and lighting and skip the weekly trip to the nail salon.

Recently bought this after debating about it for a VERY LONG time, I dont know what took me so long! I am in LOVE with this polish.
On its own it takes about three/four coats to look like it does in the bottle so instead I apply two coats of it over a pastel purple (Planks a Lot) and it creates the colour in the bottle.
I always recieve compliments when wearing it, it makes me feel so girly, even my mum borrows it!
Will 100% buy again when I run out.

Whether you'll love this polish seems to come down to how much you like semi-sheer polishes. I happen to prefer semi-sheer polishes over opaque ones, and I find this polish to be an eye-catching and versatile sheer duochrome with an easy-to-apply texture.
The reviewers here have described SOC's color in all different ways! So here's my take on it. It has a midtone lilac base, with a startling, microshimmer flash that's yellowish green from some angles, and bronze from others. I have light, cool-olive skin (ie, neutral with green undertones), and pure yellow-green or bronze polish would look awful on me. When a color looks wrong on me, it looks REALLY wrong. However, since this polish bases its warm flash in a cool purple, it looks a-okay against my skin! In fact, I suspect this polish would complement a variety of skin undertones.
And this polish isn't simply flattering. It just plain looks special, too. It takes three shades that seem like they would clash, and somehow melds them together beautifully. I don't know whether there's a dupe out there. But even if there is, this color combination is still unusual and unexpected.
SOC has a thin texture that applies very evenly. It's easy to keep away from skin and cuticles, and it's also easy to remove -- it doesn't leave microshimmer embedded in your nails. And as long as the brushstrokes face the same direction, they're not visible -- very unusual for this kind of finish.
This polish can be worn in a variety of looks. Worn in a single layer by itself, the purple base is hardly visible: you get a brilliant duochrome flash against your natural nail color. Three layers make the base noticeable, but allows the boundary between quick and white to show through. (That's the look I like best.) Opacity is achieved with five layers of this easy-to-apply polish. But it's easier to reach the bottle shade by layering it over an opaque purple that's similar to the base color. Similarly, it's fun to experiment with layering this polish over other opaque colors. It looks great over black of course, and I bet it would also look interesting over rich brown, royal blue, or emerald green.
Even if you dislike the sheer or semi-sheer look, this is still great for adding duochrome depth to opaque polishes. And for me at least, the unusual color combination and electrifying flash make this polish a must have.

This polish reminds me of OPI's Nomad's Dream, but it's a bit more pinky pearl. The reviews here seem to be split between boring or gorgeous, so I suppose it's a matter of taste. I really like it. I've only worn it alone, and yes, it is rather sheer, but it gives your nails a finished classy look. The fun part comes when the duochrome kicks in...at just the right angle, it's a coppery candy pink...from straight on, it's almost a silvery sage. And sometimes it looks nude. It's a good color to play with. I haven't layered it over other colors yet, but a previous reviewer said it looks great over black...I might even try it over something like DL's Wicked Game or OPI's Hawaiian Orchid. It's a fun summer color and a nice break from all the opaque neon colors. It reminds me of seashells!

Now this is a lovely polish for me. I love that fact is sheer but interesting at the same time. Flashes of green really set it off.
This was the first OPI that I purchased and it went on really well.
I am a soft and cool colouring and when applied this polish works well with the icy colours and the green flash is like a sea green. A lovely summer shade with a difference. Would buy again.

This color looks gorgeous in the bottle. Its very sheer and its great if you are looking for a pearlescent multi hued tone (like an abalone shell). You could layer it over other colors for a nice dimensional effect. I layered mine over deep purple and the result is very fascinating and eye catching.
HOWEVER, I gave it 4 stars because it is sooo sheer and not true to the bottle look. If you are looking for a lilac purple or light purple better to pick a matte color and then layer this on top than to go it alone. Although you could potentially use a lot of coatings and get more purple punch out of this. I used one coat...and at one coat it was just a whitish pink abalone shell colored not purplish to me at all.

On it's own I find it a little too sheer, unflattering even! I am quite pale, NW15, so that could be part of the reason. I think it;s best to be a layering polish, since as other reviewers noticed even 3+ coats do not achieve the bottles color. If this was true to the bottle and opaque I would buy it. I also love the duo chrome look! I found it to look purple/pink in most lighting then a green in others. If you want a very subtle but interesting polish this is worth a try.

Got this to wear alone but it's very sheer but when layered on top of OPI Pink a Doodle it's exactly like the bottle color with one coat.
The color is a mauve with duochrome green. I've received many compliments, even from men!

When I saw this NP in the bottle I fell in love. In the bottle, it looks like a beautiful lavender purple with a green duochrome. On the nail though it is sheer but the duochrome effect translates perfectly. I didn't think it was a buildable sheer since after 4 coats I still didn't achieve the bottle shade. I didn't use it for about a year until I found it in my nail polish box. I forgot about the sheerness and attempted to apply it. I was frustrated until I google searched "layering with OPI Significant Other Color" It was a good idea as I found many different ideas. In the end my favorite was A grape fit with SOC on top. I didn't have AGF so I used Purple with a Purpose. It's so pretty! I haven't been able to stop staring at my nails since I put it on!

Wonderful color. I purchased it after reading so many reviews that were exact opposite. To get the best effect you need 3 coats but it still works with one. Initially it is a very pretty lavender pink color but when it flashes there is an in your face lime, at least on me. I use special daylight bulbs in my studio and the color really pops out there. It is quiet and bold at the same time. Haven't used it over another color yet but it sounds like fun. My husband who is not really fond of colors in polishes loves this one. Would definitely buy again.

I really really like this colour as a layering polish. It turns black into some crazy emerald green burgundy purple/mauve/duochrome! It turns pink into a gold green lavender flashing duochrome! It actually is ridiculous what this colour can do on top of others.
That being said, on its own it isnt as stunning, it needs a fair amount of coats for coverage, and even then is just a light green/lavendar/pink frosty type duochrome.
I love it for layering though!

I bought this color about 2 years ago, tried it on one finger, and decided it was far too sheer. Even with 3 coats I couldn't seem to get the opacity I was looking for that would really bring out the beautiful color. Well, I recently was in Walgreen's picking up some cotton balls and came across Sinful Colors "Let Me Go". Now THAT is an amazing color and it is only $2!!!

I really love this color! I like neutral colors, but this is neutral with a pretty pop! I've gotten lots of comments on this color. I think it goes nice with my skin tone since I already have rosey hands. I put "Fairy Dust" by China Glaze on top, and it is gorgeous. Almost reminds me of being six again, dreaming of my wedding day. If you don't want an ultra girly look, just skip the glitter. The polish applies very nicely.

Dont know why this one scores so low. i love it! with base coat i only need to apply two coats for it to be opaque. it looks a lot like the color in the bottle on my nails. Its an unusal interesting color, but in a good way.

Great to wear to work where I'm not allowed nail polish, does not look the same in the bottle as on the nails, but neither are bad. Works well if you just want a hint of colour and goes with pretty much every outfit, I'd buy this again for sure.

It's sad to hear that Significant Other Color scores so low. This color is duochrome flashing yello and green. Like the color of a fly. In the bottle, the base color is pink/purple. But it's quite sheer and you need to look at the base color at a 150 to 180 degrees. Otherwise the duochrome color is too overwhelming.
The application is so easy and not streaky at all and it covers well. Because it's meant to be an irridescent color, it's a bit sheer and hard to get the actual pink/purple color out. I like this color but don't think I will wear it very often so I won't buy this again.

I just love this sheer duochrome color, which has dominant lavendar-pink, with duochrome shades of green, blue, pink, purple in it. It catches light all the time, and your fingers/toes will reflect the light differently each time. It's very sheer and a good color to wear on the hand, if you're the kind who does alot of housework, or outdoor work. Chips won't be obvious. It's a very flattering color, and good on tanned skin. Yes, I will repurchase, and have done so. I first came across it at my manicurist when I chose the color, and everytime I went back, despite lots of different colors, I kept choosing the same color. So I thought, hell, I'd go buy it myself.

I normally dislike pinks and sheers so I am surprised to report that I love this color. Yes, it is extremely sheer - but I just love using it to layer over other colors (especially dark colors) and as a topper to my funky french manicures. It has a subtle but interesting duo-chrome effect although it is a tiny bit frosty so there is subtle streaky look to it. I still like it though and highly recommend it to those who love layering, nail art, or want an interesting twist to their french manicure (funky or not). But note that it is quite boring by itself.

I personally ADORE this polish! So many bad reviews though. I looked on here before I tried it out, and I was scared because I thought I had wasted my money. Tried it out anyway, and I love it! It took only 2 coats for me, but it's probably cause I don't have TOO long of nails? Not sure. I just used OPI's Natural Nail Base Coat and then a Sally Hansen Dry Quick top coat. But personally, I'm loving it! Such a different color, and it's not too bright or too dark. Perfect for neutral nails with a little zing to it ;)

this polish has the flat wide professional brush and i love that. as for the color when i looked at the bottle you can see this is a sheer color. i enjoy wearing it on its own, or for a little zing i layer a coat of holofoil polish (clear with the different sized holochrome dots in it i dont know how to describe it other than that) and between the two and the one coat of hte holochrome its absolutely gorgeous. i would buy this again.
