I admit, I'm pretty hard to impress. When I first bought this, I found that although it did help my dry skin for a while, it wouldn't have any long term effects and so I left it on the shelf to gather dust. I was disappointed and thought nothing more of it. However, recently my skin has been really acting up, among numerous breakouts, severe redness and dry and flaky skin I knew I needed something and was literally going to spend quite a lot of money on a new skin care routine until I saw this on my shelf completely forgetting I even have this in the first place. I thought about what a waste it would be to not use this and put off forking out all my money on skin care for now and atleast use this tub up.

After 3 days of constant use, I'm amazed. For the first time in ages I looked in the mirror and thought what the hell? Where did my redness go? My skin looks brighter and much less irritated than it normally is on a day to day basis. It also feels incredibly soft to the touch and firm. I realised the first time I had used this I only used it for emergencies or when my skin became really dry, and I guess thats why it did nothing for me, on frequent use this is a dream in a bottle, for reals. As someone who has been frequently disappointed with products which have been hyped up this really is a gem, and I'm really happy with this. My skin hasn't looked so good in a while, and cleared up so quickly, I mean it was only last week that my skin looked awful and now I literally for the first time in a while, thought that my skin looked decent enough without needing to apply makeup.

Although it's worked wonders for me I believe this is because the main concern of my breakouts and redness have been due to dehydrated skin, so if this is not a concern of yours then this won't be a miracle acne clearing gel, not that it claims to be, but it does a good job of rehydrating. However, I use this day and night, and it's pretty expensive for something I use on the regular so I wish it could rehydrate for a longer period of time. I find when I don't use this as regularly, my skin feels dry again.

The product feels great and lightweight, however I've noticed it doesn't moisturize for long. Based on being targeted to dry/very dry skin, my skin continued to feel dry not too long after application. It's good for immediately moisture when you're feeling really dry, but be prepared to follow with another moisturizer.

Also, I'm unsure what it is in the product that caused the allergic reaction - I used some under my eyebrows since the skin there was dry and woke up with swollen eyelids. I know I should be wary of what products I put around my eyes, but I wasn't expecting that with the product.

Absolutely love this moisturizer! Especially during winter and as night cream. Also think it can be used as a face primer.

My main moisturizer is Shiseido's Bio-Performance Advanced Super Revitalizing Cream. I cannot live without it. I use it day and night, in the humid summer and even reapply it several times a day in the winter. But at $100 for the large size, my wallet cries every time I purchase it. For years, I've been looking for products that provide tons of hydration that I can use in conjuction with Bio-Performance and help me extend the use of that jar.

It's been a few weeks since I've been using the Clinique Moisture Surge after toner and before Bio-Performance and I can actually feel a difference. This gel-based product sinks and absorbs quickly without leaving skin greasy. However, it provides more lasting hydration than a serum or moisturizing toner. I still need to use Bio-Performance, but not as much. If my skin feels tight during the day, I can reapply the Moisture Surge for relief instead of dipping into the Bio-Performance. It provides immediate hydration. At night, I've been able to get away with using Moisture Surge and Vaseline (I apply Vaseline day and night to seal in the other skincare products) and skip Bio-Performance altogether.

So, no, this product cannot serve as a stand alone your night cream or moisturizer. Maybe if you have normal to oily skin, this product can serve as your moisturizer. But at $30, 1/3 the cost of Bio-Performance, I am happy to use this product liberally if it means I'm using one less dab of Bio-Performance. I would give this 5 lippies if it could replace Bio-Performance, but it cannot.

Let's just have a moment of appreciation for this moisturiser!!!
This is absolutely beautiful, so lightweight. It absorbs into the skin so quickly without leaving any residue. Leaves your skin so soft to the touch and provides so much hydration!! A little goes a very long way too so it lasts a while.
I have oily skin and moderate/severe acne, I am on medication for acne and prescribed creams. This moisturiser doesn't interfere with this, it doesn't irritate my skin or blemishes as it's a water based moisturiser!
EVERY ONE SHOULD TRY THIS MOISTURISER - even if it is a sample at first!!

I've been using this for 3 years now and I haven't switched. I have oily/ acne- prone skin especially during the summer time and my skin is more like a combination skin during the winter. For the summer, I use this and then I apply my sunscreen, which gives me sufficient moisture. For the winter, I use this as a hydrater and then I use a day cream moisturizer with Vitamin E and spf. I do not recommend using this alone unless you're a fairly oily skin type as this is an oil-free gel moisturizer. Mature and dry skin would not benefit from this product by itself. Sensitive skin may like this as this is fragrance-free. I will continue repurchasing this unless there an exact drugstore dupe of this.

Hair: Brunette, Wavy, Medium

ABOUT THE PRODUCT:
Like many others have pointed out, this isn’t supposed to be a daily moisturizer. It is described as a «drink of water for your face», and I think that fits. It relieves dryness and dry patches instantly, but if your skin feels tight and dry and you only put this on and leave it, your skin will start to feel dry/tight again very soon (we’re talking minutes here)

PERFORMANCE:
Let's be realistic people; This is an oil-free gel, so it can't really be expected to work wonders in terms of heavy-duty moisturizing. I think that this stuff does an exceptional job considering the formula, and the bright side is that it does not feel greasy at all and does not clog my pores or break me out.

In my opinion this looks and feels ALOT like the «all about eyes» eye cream, and that stuff did nothing for me regarding fine lines and puffiness so now i use this under the eye area as well. (Paula does not recommend using a different moisturizer for eye area unless it has spf, which neither of them do).

THE DOWNSIDES:
*It can’t really be used as a moisturizer on its own, and when I apply regular moisturizer this is completely redundant because my regular moisturizer is enough on it's own 99% of the time.
*I thought this would be a great base for tinted moisturizer (which never seem to be quite moisturizing on there own for me) because it leaves the skin with this smooth film. HOWEVER that film quickly turns into «eraser debris» on the skin if I try to blend liquids or cream products on top of it.

MY EXPERIENCE:
This stuff is like a guilty pleasure for me. It’s quite pricey and it really doesn’t fit into my routine at all, but like a horrible addiction I just can’t seem to stay away. Despite the major downsides, I *still* find myself reaching for this quite a lot. I don’t know why, because it screws up my entire makeup routine and I end up needing to re-moisturize after a while, but it just feel soooooo good on my skin I can’t help myself. I love the texture and applying it feels like a real treat, it glides on so smoothly and does not feel greasy at all. It’s really ridiculous, but I will probably end up repurchasing this. Not because of the benefits for my skin. Not because it’s such a great product. Just because I like to apply it. Hate to love this stuff.

Pros:
- Quick fix that absorbs and hydrates instantly
- Very, VERY smooth and luxurius texture

Cons:
- Does not work as a moisturizer on it’s own
- Not a suitable base for makeup (eraser debris effect)

meh. I can't say that this really helped with moisture in any way. I have used it alone, over serum, over foundation, and over night cream and it really didn't help in any of those combinations. I will say that it didn't do anything detrimental. It isn't drying and it didn't cause me any allergic reactions. I just don't think it actually moisturized either.

This is a great moisturiser if used the correct way, I have extremely sensitive combination skin and react to everything with a fragrance in! Luckily I found this, this cream is a "skin thirst quencher" so I find you have to put it over something, I use it over the smart serum, it is not moisturising enough on its own, unless you have very oily skin. I tend to use this in the summer over the smart serum and switch over to the extended thirst relief in the winter. If you are someone who has easily irritated skin this is a great moisturiser, and it also feels great on the skin, but does take a few moments to absorb. Only downside is the jar packaging.

About me: NW13-20 (neutral-cool toned, very fair), dark gray- blue eyes, Color season is True Summer, Baumann Skin Type is OSPW/DSPW.

At first, I was displeased with this purchase. I bought it on a whim at the Clinique counter, because I wanted to return another product but they told me they could only do exchanges since I had received a GWP.

I used it overnight on my face and neck a few times, and it didn't give me the kind of moisture and plumpness I was looking for in a PM moisturizer. The texture is lovely, but I am prone to overapplying it because it feels so light. Additionally, it reminds me of a Garnier moisturizer ALOT, and that was disappointing because the Garnier one cost about 25% of what the Clinique one does...

However, I found a use for this moisturizer - I use it in the mornings for when I need a quick boost, and even better - it mixes well with my foundations on a stippling brush. For my "drier" foundations, I can wear them in winter without having to prep and prime my skin too much because I can mix with this and apply together directly to my face using a stippling brush. This has worked well with my Dior Star foundation and my Cinema Secrets cream foundations, which both show my nose flakes if I'm not careful in the winter.

So I am pleased that I was able to make this product "work" but in the future, I would probably repurchase the Garnier moisturizer if I need a foundation mixer next winter.

Additionally, the packaging is not very hygienic, and it's pretty heavy.
