For reference I'm NC40 and wear Medium-toDark in this product. This product is for the driest of dry skins. If you have normal skin, combination skin or oily skin... do NOT buy this product. If you do, I guarantee you will be disappointed. All that being said, however, if you have very dry skin, you will LOVE this! My skin is wacko and changes from very dry to dry to normal to combination to oily. Hormones, yanno? Anyway, I don't wear this all the time - only when my skin is feeling super parched and dry. When it's in that "mode" and I want to protect my skin and nourish it while evening out the color, THIS product is the one I reach for. I apply using the Buffing Brush from Real Techniques and it provides a hint of color which evens out my skin tone and gives me a "glow". Once my skin recovers and becomes more balanced, I don't wear this or I will look shiny and feel greasy. For the right skin type (DRY skin) this product is wonderful.

I came to the end of a tube of Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser and thought I'd give something else a try. I had this applied by a Bobbi Brown artist and then took a sample pot home - I'm glad I didn't buy it. Even though she did a nice job, I didn't feel it gave me enough coverage. It's VERY sheer. I have combination skin that is sensitive and I don't like too much coverage, but this was so sheer as to be barely covering anything at all. I do like the smell and it is really a 'balm' - in a way it is one of the products that is truly a tinted moisturiser (we generally expect tinted moisturisers to act like light coverage foundations). Anyway, it was very moisturising but I didn't like the shiny finish it gave (not dewy, shiny), and even setting with powder didn't stop the shine from coming back later. I'll stick with LM for now!

I got a generous sample of this from the department store. I have dry skin and the Bobbi Brown consultant said this has more converage than a tinted moisturizer, but less that a full foundation.
My first impressions were that it was great. It goes on more like a skin treatment than a makeup and feels very nourishing and luxurious. The smell is also really nice, but may aggravate you if you are super sensitive. It smells almost herbal or botanical to me. Once applied, it gave a really pretty and glowing finish. I don't have a lot to conceal, but it seemed to give a good amount of coverage as well. Anyway, that was on the first day.
By the third day, instead of glowy it was starting to appear greasy and shiny. Within a week I was broken out on my chin and forehead and nose. I hardly ever break out like this, so I know this was the culprit.
I have to agree with those who say this is only for VERY DRY skin. My skin is pretty dry and with continued use this balm made me a broken out mess. Also, sunscreen and other skin nutrients are not photo stable in a jar container. They need to be in an airtight, light tight container.
Overall this was a big miss for me.

I always have a jar of this stuff to hand as, during the day at work, I don't wear full foundation anymore (the air conditioning/heating seemed to dry foundation out and it ends up looking cakey). However, this stuff doesn't do that. My skin is clear enough that it gives enough coverage (with a little extra help needed from concealer around the nose area and for any "monthly" spots I might get). I really like the smell and have no issue with it. It smells fresh and citrus-like, to me. As with another reviewer, my skin looks good at the end of the day after this. I keep buying it, anyway.

Ugh. The smell is way too strong. It goes away after a while, but if you are at all sensitive to fragrance, stay away!
It is moisturizing, at first, but after a while is just plain uncomfortable on the face. It gives coverage, at first, but then irritated red patches start to show through.

I bought this product years ago...I did not enjoy it..I wanted some coverage but not anything too heavy...well this product made my combination skin feel rather greasy and shiny....there was little to no coverage, and it costs a lot...There are a lot of better tinted moisturizers on the market to get...I now use Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer and it works great! Much better! Save your money and don't get this product.

This is the first makeup I have bought in years! My skin is normal to dry, but it can get very dry depending on my environment. I have very clear skin as well, so I usually wear nothing but mascara most days. Since I have refrained from splurging for so long, I decided that now was the time to get one nice base to use when needed. I had always wanted to try this but was put off by the price tag. Anyhow, I decided to try it out and put this on half my face and shopped for a few hours. I loved it and bought it. I am light olive-skinned and bought this in light-medium. Wonderful product in my opinion. The coverage is very light and dewy, and I love the dependable built-in spf.

This is a very dewy, very sheer tinted moisturizer.
Price: At $52, certainly one of the more expensive products in BB's foundation line.
Packaging: I know others are squicky over using a jar product (vs a pump or tube), but the jar doesn't bother me. However, I could see how traveling with this could be an issue.
Product: I have extremely dry skin, live in a very dry climate and have slight reddish pigmentation in both of my cheeks. I don't wear regular foundation as I have yet to try one that doesn't end up cakey, and my skin is clear aside from the slight redness. Before trying this balm I was using BB's OF TM, which I like, but was wondering if there was anything else in her line that would be slightly more hydrating.
The first day I used this I looked at my face in several different lights--natural indoors, outside (sunny), fluorescent indoors. Outside, I thought my face looked glowing and fresh. Inside, sometimes I thought it looked nice, other times I thought it looked a tad greasy.
Aside from my concerns about the finish, I also wasn't sure about the coverage. I know this can be layered, and I don't use primer or powder, but for a single application, it seemed very, very thin. This was confirmed on the second day, when I was able to do half my face with the OF TM and the other half with this. By far, the OF TM gave better coverage (for "one coat", if you will), especially on my slightly reddish cheeks.
This is going back and I may opt to order the BB regular TM to see if that solves my problem of wanting something with a tad more coverage with more moisture.

Bobbi Brown's products have never disappointed me and this one is no different. I love this! I'm not sure why I never tried a tinted moisturizer before, this particular one covers and keeps skin hydrated so well. Her products are just so reliable. I am sure when I near the end I will try to find a cheaper replacement because that's how I am though. Lol ( I have 2 kids in college)

I just bought my third jar of this. A few notes for those of you who might be confused by the widely varying reviews here:
-- This stuff is for DRY skin. Really dry. I live in Colorado and have dry skin, and still I only use it in the winter . . .
-- A little dab will do ya. I apply a small pea-size amount to my whole face and neck. Use too much and you will look greasy.
-- There is a noticeable (but not horrible) scent. I find my eyes are sensitive to this scent, so I don't get this product too close to my eyes.
So why do I keep buying it? Because it moisturizes like crazy, while also providing SPF 25 and light coverage. A three-fer! When I use this my skin looks better at night -- after I take my makeup off. It seems to seal the moisture in, so that my skin is plumper and not so dehydrated looking / feeling.
I would like this product better if it came in a tube -- the shape of the bottle makes it very difficult to get the last 1/3 of the product out. I end up using the end of a makeup brush to dig it out, which ain't pretty. And it is expensive ($52 for an ounce). But if you're looking for a moisture bomb with a little tint, this product delivers.

The price is a bit of an offset, but I can't live without this stuff. I have very dry skin that is a bit uneven. I don't need concealer or anything too heavy so this is perfect for me.

After a few months of trial and error, I determined that this is causing large, deep, painful break outs.
However, without the break outs, I would have liked its sheer but buildable coverage, SPF 25, and the color selection.
The tub packaging struck me as just unhygienic enough that I feel uncomfortable passing the remainder along to a friend to use.

I was talked into buying this when I went in to try the new Bobbi Brown Mineral foundation (which I love, by the way). I guess it was a moment of weakness. I barely made it out of the store when the burning sensation started. I should have returned it right there and then. I tried it again the next week and the burning was lessened. I researched some of the essential oils which are in this and, lo and behold, the citrus oils and the angelica oil are PHOTOSENSITIZERS and are detrimental in a product that claims to be sun protective. Google it and you'll see what I mean. These make your skin MORE sensitive to the sun!!! This was a big disappointment and is definitely going back. I'm quite surprised that this was Dermatologist tested as the packaging states. Weren't they concerned about the ingredients?!

Although I have acne prone skin, this did not break me out. I bought it last winter when my normal/combo skin was really dry due to the weather. What bothered me the most about this product was the scent, which was way too harsh. I think her other tinted moisturizers are scented too but aren't as strong. In fact, I think they smell quite nice. The coloring is a bit off, and feels a bit heavy on my skin.

I have very dry skin in the winter, and i was finding that a lot of my foundations including other tinted moisturizers were kind of drying my skin out throughout the day.
just not a pretty look... i don't have very many skin issues, but i do like to even out my skin with something. this is perfect for me for the cold weather... and it's easy and really keeps my skin hydrated throughout the day.
this is very sheer coverage, so it won't do much more than even out your skin tone.
but if you want something, easy, very hydrating with light coverage... than this is the perfect product.
i love that it has SPF in it as well! and i actually love the scent of it.

I've been wearing this all Summer instead of a foundation & it's just come into Winter & I'm still wearing it for now. I put it all over with fingers like a moisturiser then pop a powder on top on shiny areas (t-zone mainly) - I find it really evens out my skintone & gives a radiant glow. It's also the only one I've used that stays put all day, feels comfortable on my very dry skin, & stays radiant all day. Really impressed with it. I'm not too keen on the smell, wish it just smelled like cream but they've perfumed it to make it smell like trees or something! Also I never think tubs are very good for hygiene, would've preferred it in a tube but then maybe it's too thick for that. For reference I use extra-light in this & I'm NW15 in MAC, Ecru in EL DW (I thought I would need to use light but the BB girl matched me & she was right, extra-light is perfect - it looks scarily pale in the tub but sinks into my skin nicely!).

There are tons of reviews for this product, but here goes another one. This is the best tinted moisturizer with sunscreen that I have ever used. I have tried a lot of them. It is expensive and the little glass jar is heavy and you have to dig your fingers into it to get product out. I am not sure how else it could be packaged though. I live in a very dry climate at a high altitude...lots of sun. I get excellent coverage from this considering it is a tinted moisturizer and not a foundation. On days when I just want some sun protection but don't feel like doing a whole make-up with sunscreen and foundation, I grab this little pot. It evens out my rosacea pink cheeks and even damps down my dark circles a bit.
I use "light tint" as I am pretty fair with yellow undertones. I think this product could be too heavy for a younger person with oily skin and breakouts but for senior skin it is really a lovely go-to product. It has a slight lavender medicinal smell about it that is quite pronounced as you are applying the cream but the smell goes away quickly. I don't find it offensive but then I like the smell of lavender.

This is a wonderful product. I've tried several TMs that are either too oily, too drying, irritate my skin to end, or are a poor match to my skin tone. I'm so glad to say my search if finally over.

I just finished my jar and am docking this down to 2 lippies. What I loved about this product: The moisture and the coverage. What I disliked: Still hate the jar packaging, but I can work around that. But the deal breaker is that, if I so much as touch my face to blend this, it rolls up in little balls. I've tried using a moisturizer or primer under this, it helps slightly, but it still balls up. I have to apply it with a brush, then blend it with another brush. It still balls up, but not as bad.
This is really too bad because I liked the light coverage and the moisture. Sadly, I wont repurchase.
----------------------------------------------------------
I tried the new Extra Foundation prior to this balm, but it made dry patches I didnt even know I had stand out. I gave it a fair shake but had to exchange it.
I haven't had this product for too long, but my experience and thoughts so far:
I dont get the 'dewey' look from this TM. I've never had my skin look dewey - my skin is SO incredibly dry it sucks up any and all moisture I can give it (and I live in New England with long, cold, dry winters... ugh). With that being said, I feel that this TM is nicely moisturizing, but I do sometimes need to wear it over the BB Vitamin Enriched Face Base - I would imagine that not many of you would need to do this, but its a good idea if your skin is as impossibly dry as mine. I like the coverage, nice and light, yet slightly buildable. I haaaaate the jar. Even though I go at it with clean hands, I still hate sticking fingers into products. I buy disposable spatulas at Sallys (and clean them after every use to reuse them and reduce waste) to scoop out what I need. I like the product enough to buy again despite the packaging. I think it will be decent for winter either mixed with a heavier moisturizer or layered over some sort of a moisturizing primer. 4 lippies.

I love this!
I never usually like tinted moisturisers but I think it was the word 'balm' that attracted me to it! It smells and feels really lovely.
I get eczema on my forehead and above my top lip but since using this the dryness has gone. It gives a lovely dewy look and has good coverage providing u don't have lots of bad spots.
I don't use foundation since discovering this unless i get a few spots!
