I like the way it smells and it keeps my flyaways in place but that's not what it's for. It's supposed to moisturize and I feel like it does the opposite. I wasted my money =/

Elasta QP Olive Oli & Mango Butter Moisturizer is a real bargain and buy. This product can be used daily for lightly moisturizing tresses as well as pressing hair from natural to straight. It smells great, good quality, and very affordable. You can find in most beauty supply stores marketed to African American women.

So of course since I read some great reviews of this product, I decided to go out and buy it. As much as I wanted to like it, I have to say I'm a little disappointed in this moisturizer. I feel like it was more of a holding puddy than a moisturizer.
PROS: Smells good, gives nice hold to braidout/twistout/bantu knot
CONS: Too thick, felt dry when putting it on, not enough "slip" when added to hair.
I'm sure it works wonders for some people, but I guess my hair just didn't like it :(

Pretty useless. I searched allll over for this product after reading rave reviews around the web. Finally found it at some side street BSS where I paid $10 knowing good and well that it normally sells for less. I really wish that I had kept my money. When I say that this product was pretty useless....I honestly mean useless. I put it on my hair and felt absolutely nothing.

This is another staple I like to use for my twist/knot outs. I love it for that purpose. When used on wet hair, I get very defined curls with my twists. It leaves my hair feeling soft and supple. Not weighed down or greasy. No buildup, flakes or residue either and this plays nice with other products (unlike Eco-Styler or KCCC) I love love love the scent!!!!!! It smells so nice and light to me. Not overpowering to me but it does linger, which may/may not be appealing to some. I'm almost done with my jar so I will be repurchasing soon.

I just started using this and I like it. I noticed that it was thick, so I am only using it to moisturize and seal with. That way, it can absorb into my hair overnight. It works great for that, because I notice I still have some moisture in my hair the next morning. Most of my past sealants leave my hair dry in the a.m. because they are full absorbed I guess. The smell is delicious. I think the thickness is good for the winter.

I've used Elasta QP Mango Butter for a few years now. I love it! I only scoop a thumb sized amount and smooth it through my hair at night. That's all you need to keep your hair moisturized and soft. The jar will last you a long time so it's a good value. Apparently Elasta QP improved their products because now it's being called "Olive Oil & Mango Butter Moisturizer". I got a new jar today and that's what it says.
Several people have commented that the product is thick and waxy. That's because you either got an old jar or somebody opened the jar in the store and didn't close the lid back tight enough. This product should be thick and creamy when you first get it, not thick and waxy. That's why I have to open the Elasta QP jar before I buy it to see if it's thick & waxy or not. If it is, I put it back. If it's fresh, I buy it.
My only complaint is availability. I used to be able to go to Walmart anytime and get it. Not anymore, although the local Walmarts carry other Elasta QP products. Same with Sally's Beauty Supply: they carry all the other QP products EXCEPT the mango butter. I usually have to go to Mom N Pop Beauty Supply stores to get it. (and this is where you'll find the thick and waxy stuff).

This product seems to be hyped up. To me it has no moisturizing properties at all, looking at the ingriedient list you would think so but nope, nada! It's waxy and non-moisturizing. The smell is nice and so is the consistency other than that *meh*

This product is NOT all that and a bag of chips. My mom purchased it for me as a moisturizer because my hair stylist reccommended it for my breakage. I applied a dime size amount(which took awhile because the top layer of product is so waxy and thick)on the back of my hair and concentrating on the ends. The smell is amazing, but I immediately noticed how heavy and greasy my hair became. The next day my friend was close to me and my hair brushed against his cheek. He was surprised at how slick my hair was because it is never greasy. Moreover, I didn't notice any dramatic changes in my hair, except for the fact it smelled like mangoes and is greasy.
I am very disappointed. I wanted a light, non-greasy moisturizer. Instead I got nice-smelling wax.

I really had high expectations about this product after all the buzz about it on some hair boards. After buying it I really don't see what the big deal about it is. Maybe the smell. I found it okay on my hair in very small doses, really to calm the little fly aways and keep hair in place but moisturizer??? NO WAY! I would buy it again because its waxiness does keep my hair from flying around and is better than using glaze or gel. Apart from that I am not impressed with its emollient properties. I used it on my daughters hair and it made her hair very heavy and sticky. Not a moisturizer, this stuff is something else.

I like this for a while. It moisturized pleasantly enough, but then I realized it was weighing my hair down and I stopped using it. End of story. (smell was good though).

I got the mango butter based on rave reviews on a hair care board.
It made my hair greasy & weighed down, while dry and plasticy at the same time.
I gave it 2 lippies for the smell. The price & packaging were average.

THE ELASTA QP RECOVERY OIL MOISTURIZER IS A WHOLE NOTHER STORY!!! Now *THAT* is amazing, moisturizing, leaves my hair silky, smooth, & moisturized and has a lovely soft, sweet, feminine fragrance! Plus it's dirt cheap(like $3.00 a bottle). It's the BEST moisturizer I've ever used(and I've used EVERYTHING)! If the mango butter didn't work, and even if it did, you owe it to your hair to try the RECOVERY OIL MOISTURIZER!

This has been a staple for me the past 3 years. You don't have to use too much and I dont usually use it everyday. I just apply a little to my ends before wrapping my hair at night & then put a tiny bit of john frieda secret weapon creme. In the morning my ends are soft and smooth and smell mango-ish & my hair is sooo silky. Im still trying to figure out if its from the combination of products or what.. It seems expensive but one jar has lasts me like 3-4 months maybe even more...Give it a try, but use w/ a light hand, probably when wrapping hair at night.

I used this in my daughter's hair: 3b/4a natural hair. I guess I didn't learn my lesson the first time I bought this product. I had to get when it was on sale for $2.50 at Walgreen's so I figured what the heck, I'll give it another go. The first time I tried this I just put this in her hair and brushed it in. Her hair was a little hard and the product didn't melt into her hair but sat there. It didn't leave it moisturized either. So I mixed it with olive oil and used it up, still unsatisfied with the results. The second go round I read somewhere that it helps to emulsify it in your hands first and I said to myself, maybe if I had done that it would have worked... and wow, saw it on sale and snatched it up. Used it once, it now sits in the linen closet, second shelf/ product graveyard. It helped to emulsify, her hair was indeed softer, but it didn't make her hair silky or moisturized... just soft. I'm going to use the rest of this on my twists... I have thick, coarse, 4a/b hair. I really don't wanna not use my Ors loc and twist gel... it works wonders but I have to do something with the rest of the mango butter. Who knows, I may be surprised since our hair textures are so different. UPDATE: I figured it out! it's the protein... most natural heads don't need products with protein so I'm sure this is working great for women with relaxers.

this is very moisturizing on my hair and last a long time. As to the review who said it made her hair hard, how much did she use? It has protein in it to make your hair strong and smooth. The smell is not strong to me it is very pleasant, and smells like mangoes! I would definitely buy this again, in fact I have been using it for about 3 years now it is my HG, especially when I apply heat to my hair.

I love this stuff! It works wonders with a flat iron. It moisturizes my hair well, and it has no product build-up. I like the Mango scent. A little goes a long way so the jar lasts for quite a while. It also gives my relaxed hair supple texture and wonderful shine. Definite repurchase.

This is a thick creamy pomade with a slightly waxy texture. It has a strong, very sweet smell that bothers me because it lasts so long. This made my hair hard, but it has excellent hold. I will not repurchase because I can't stand hard hair.
