At first it smelled like whiskey on me, then went into a STINK stage menitoned below. But after a few min. I was not buried in a barge of Hawaiian leis and smelled mint!, with a background of magnolia? or jasmin or gardinia.
I don't know my different scents yet, so I'll just say it began on the wrong foot, but did redeem itself as it dried down. I'm not much for tropicals at all, they seem too heavy, and this did too, till the dry down.
I do appreciate lighter florals and wear them all the time.

I got a sample of this from luckyscent and I must say its a very pretty floral. I had tried the original "Lea" but I really wasn't impressed with that as I didn't find it floral enough for me but this is very fresh and very pretty. The only downfall is the staying power doesn't seem to be that great and Im not sure I would spend the 80.00 to buy a big bottle but it sure is a pretty scent.

Jala is definitely Hawaii in a bottle. On me, it smells predominantly of jasmine with an undercurrent of both tuberose and magnolia. It is an extremely tropical floral but is still light enough to be a go-to everyday summer scent. Kai is still my very favorite tropical floral but Jala is definitely beautiful enough that I always keep some on hand during the summer months.

Very similar to Diptyque Olene. I love its luscious jasmine. Too bad the staying power is terrible.

This is a really nice tropical scent--most "tropicals" end up smelling like suntan lotion and/or plastic and/or baby oil on me. This doesn't. It's very lush and beautiful. However, I prefer Kai...especially upon price comparison.

Jala is the first tropical floral that truly simulates the fragrance experience of wearing a fresh flower lei from Hawaii :D Tart and heady jasmine/pikake with a sweeter plumeria accord. What makes Jala different is that the fragrance WAFTS --- it doesn't just simply sit on the skin and disappear. Perfect for hot summer days.

The jasmine never comes out on my skin in Jala St. Barth until maybe an hour or so into the drydown. Before then its all lush, honied tuberose and orange blossom and pithy, almost neroli-like, lily of the valley. But then the jasmine does emerge, pure and sweet, though never quite drowning out the tuberose note. It's nice and tropical, but I don't think the LOTV really meshes well with the overall lush aspects of the fragrance -- seems somehow discordant.

This sister scent to Lea is lush, pretty and feminine - it's one of the few florals I like enough to own. It's a simple blend, but so is Lea, and both work beautifully. This is one of the most gorgeous tropical scents out there. One downside: poor staying power. Notes: pink magnolia, frangipani, Italian jasmine.

I am in love...plain and simple - this is a big winner ! - It starts out on my skin a little herbaceous and green ( a natural green smell - not the synthetic green note of so many fragrances) I did't expect much - but I was interested because that 'green' note smelled good and natural - and I'm NOT a green person - as it dried down I was simply transported to the most beautifully scented place - I was driving and had a hard time driving because every time I put my nose to my wrist to smell this I wanted to close my eyes and dream......not a good idea while driving , I might add...but I think this is one of the most beautiful fragrances - something in it that makes it 'different' to me but I don't know what it is...it's a light summer scent - but OH so much MORE ~!

A sister scent to the immensely popular Lea St. Barth, but the only thing they share in common is the last name. A blend of pink magnolia, frangipani and Italian jasmine, this is a straight-up tropical floral in the vein of Kai, whereas Lea is a gourmand scent with its almond, vanilla and musk. I am not a floral-type gal, but I still liked Jala instantly. It's heady and transporting--pick your favorite Hawaiian beach and Jala takes you there. Wearing this is like wearing fresh-cut flowers in your hair.

JASMINE! It's screaming jasmine. This is jasmine at its best. Sweet, heady and lush, with a backdrop of plumeria, it's the most beautifully tropical swoonworthy floral, and not for the faint at heart. It's extraordinarily sweet, and has a hefty - HEFTY - dose of indole, that chemical in jasmine that smells almost fecal. If you're sensitive to that, then try before buying. Here, it works. Works extraordinarily well, in fact. The downside: It's so lush, so heady, so tropical that it's not an every day scent. I have a small decant, and it's more than enough. I can't imagine going through an entire full-size bottle of this.

I love Jala! Like many of the other reviewer said, it puts me in a tropical mood with jasmine & plumeria. Takes me back to Hawaii, but in a more subtle way than Kai (which smells more like just-cut flowers than this). Couldn't stop myself, had to buy a bottle. :)

I bought this product without sampling it because it was compared to "tropical" scents such as Kai. I love Kai and Child. Although Jala smells good, this smells nothing like them. I tried to pawn it off to my mom (who is in her 50s) and even she said she felt it was an "older lady" scent. Apparently it smells good on everyone else so maybe it is just my chemistry.

Heady, sultry, tropical, summer blend of Night Blooming Jasmine and Plumeria. Brings back lovely memories of Hawaii; waterfalls, flowers everywhere, and heavy fragrant air. It's a mysterious scent (jasmine always smells like mystery to me), yet comforting; like a vacation somewhere hot and lazy. I'm in love with Jala, and I can't wait to purchase this!

I was just commenting to my DH in the car after a tennis match (well, it was less of a match and more of a relay of retrieving my errant balls from the far corners of the court), as I continued--in the compulsive way I usually do--to sniff my wrist, that this scent reminds me of one I wore in the 80s, namely Tatiana. Then I came to read what others had to say and noticed I wasn't alone in this comparison. However, this isn't by any means an exact replica, but it does evoke a similar lushness, probably due to the jasmine. This is also a bit lighter, which helps when you're playing sweaty tennis under the sun, but it's still heady enough, in a wonderfully tropical way. With all due respect to previous reviewers, I can't imagine how anyone could possibly get musk or chocolate from this scent; the only thing this fragrance shares in common with Lea is that they're made by the same company. And personally, I'm glad they make both. :o)

A very hawaiian floral.. My grandmother makes Lei's and it smells just like her house when the flowers are still very fresh and damp. The jasmine is very sweet smelling. It is nothing like Lea, this stands on its own for sure. It is just as lovely as Lea in a totally different way.

This is suppose to be the sis fragrance to Lea but I however did not like this is any way. To me it had too much of a floral thing going on. While I love floral fragrance I sadly did not care for this one at all.

If you don't like jasmine I don't think you'd like Jala because it's predominantly what I smell. The jasmine type is similar to the one in fragrances such as Tatiana. I like it but not sure if I'd buy it since there are other jasmine perfumes which I find similar for alot less.

I wanted to try this since I love Lea and thought I might like her "sister" too. It is a beautiful tropical floral with magnolia and frangipane, but a little too floral for me. I can't see even a slight resemblance to Lea, and I was disappointed it wasn't similar. I didn't notice any chocolate in this at all, by the way. Even so, it is a nice fragrance that should appeal to tropical floral scent lovers. I won't purchase a full bottle though, at $80.
