I'm pretty sure this primer has the same formulation as Smashbox Photo Finish but that it's more expensive. It feels a little bit oilier but it works just the same.

Personally I think both products are overrated and I'm searching for a better, cheaper alternative. I'm mad that I bought this primer on a whim and it ended up being the same exact thing as Smashbox!

This is discontinued, you say!? NOOOO
Seriously, I love this primer. I did a lot of research before buying a primer and I'm pretty happy with this one. I don't have much to compare it to (previously tried Clinique's pore perfector) but I like how it performs on my oily skin.
It glides on, the formula doesn't break me out, doesn't feel heavy, a little goes a long way, it's clear, unscented, cheap and all natural.
I like how it sort of "blurs" my large pores (like the Photoshop 'healing' tool lol) and I even wear it sometimes on its own. My makeup lasts a lot longer too. At the end of the day, I find there is a lot more makeup to take off than if I hadn't have used this primer.
The only con is the stupid packaging. I know I'm going to have to break it open to get every last bit out but I haven't even gotten there yet because like I said a little goes a long way. If you do end up using too much, you will get pilling when you try to put foundation on top of it.

An HG of face primers. It goes on smooth, it keeps my foundation(when I wear foundation) on wonderfully, has no scent, is clear, I love it. I tried it out when I bought the little testers for the primers. The eyeshadow primer isn't that bad either. The texture is much like the ELF face primer, except that one did nothing for me, even though I really wanted to to, because it was so cheap. I just love this. It's totally worth the money.

This is a classic primer, in the same category as Smashbox Photofinish. I prefer this to the Photofinish, however, because to me Photofinish feels heavy and greasy, plus worst of all it breaks me out. Tarte Clean Slate feels lighter than Photofinish and I haven't noticed myself breaking out from this (I am on my second tube). My biggest complaint is the packaging, which is why I took off a lippie. It comes in a hard plastic tube that is very hard to squeeze. You end up wasting a lot of product in the bottom of the tube because it is not a bendy tube, it is solid. Another packaging complaint that I have is that my last tube cracked and product leaked out. If Tarte would put this in a pump or a more flexible tube, I would be a happy girl.

Still, I say go for it if you are thinking about trying this because it is worth the messed up tube in my opinion and it is a pretty fool proof primer.

Goes on smooth, best primer I have ever used. My bare minerals foundation looks much better after using this. Nice fresh grapefruit scent. Seems to brighten too! First primer I have ever liked and I have tried a million,

When I first tried this produce I fell in love. It was so smooth and made my skin look fantastic. It's pretty much like all those pore perfectors out there. But as far as a primer to hold my foundation on, it fails. I used the tiniest amount and my make up still slips and moves. I don't really have a problem with my make up moving normally without a primer, so this was definitely a bad thing for me. I've only used it with liquid make up so I can't speak for how it does with powder, but I can imagine it might work kind of well - make you look less dry and powdery, and thus more natural. I'm using the rest of it now as a pore perfector when I have no make up on or towards the end of the day on top of make up when my make up is wearing off or skin is shiny, just to even things out. It works pretty well that way.

I've gone through a few of these so far -- it is the best makeup primer that I have tried. Like all other Tarte products I have tried, it does not break me out. It goes on smoothly. It is a very good base for liquid or powder foundation. I really like that it does not feel heavy on my face like some other primers -- I can't even tell I have it on.

What I like best about this product is that it is cruelty-free and free of parabens. What I don't like is the packaging. It is too hard to get out the last few applications -- I actually cut it open and can use it for about 2 more weeks once I cannot squeeze any more out.

It looks like Tarte has discontinued this and rolled out the Clean Slate 12-hour primer in poreless and brightening formulas. I'm sorry to see a great product go -- but I am eager to try the new poreless product.

This did nothing for me. It did not help keep oil at bay or help my makeup last any longer. Good texture though.

This was my first primer, and I've had it for a while now.
I do have to say that it has a greasy residue and after you have it for a certain period of time, it begins to harden inside since it is all natural and it's hard to squeeze out, but on the bright side,
My makeup just smoothly glides on, and it stays on for a very long time!

Love the way it makes my face feel. It is a little thicker but I feel as though my makeup glides effortlessly on. The only downside imo is the packaging. I literally broke a pair of scissors trying to open it. Had to grab a huge knife and open it up and there was like a third left in there...besides that I would definitely repurchase.

Not a bad product. Goes on super smooth, holds makeup in place. My issues are it doesn't keep oil at bay AT ALL, leaves my hands feeling greasy after I apply it, doesn't do much for pores, and the packaging is TERRIBLE. once you use more than about a third you can barely squeeze any more out, the tube is just too stiff. I'm going back to my TF primed and poreless.

I love this primer! It really does make your skin feel velvety soft, and evens out you tone! My foundation blends on very well! The only sucky thing is the cost, but it's worth it in the long run considering I don't have to treat breakouts or continuing the search for a perfect primer!

I actually think this product works pretty well, but I gave it a 2 because it broke me out. I used it under my MUFE face and body fdn and got compliments on how nice my skin looked. But then I got little bumps all over my face so that's the end of that :( I really wanted to like it because I've been looking for a good primer that doesn't have so many "bad" ingredients and not so much silicone. I know it is primarily the silicone that's responsible for making primers so effective at creating a "clean slate" (haha) by creating a nice smooth even surface by filling in pores etc, so maybe my quest is hopeless. I have tried the korres vit e primer thats silicone free, but found it didn't really make a difference. Oh well. No biggie, I can take or leave using a primer but I DID really like how my makeup looked with the clean slate primer! Too bad my skin didn't react well to it. I'd recommend getting a sample of this to try first.

I was recommended this at Ulta since I wanted something that would not break me out and the SA said that I should try Tarte since its all natural. The good news is that it didn't break me out and I finished the entire tube. Since then I have tried other primers and I have stuck with the Urban Decay Pore Perfecting primer. It makes my skin look so much better before I put foundation on. It also helps my foundation glide on and looks better used with foundation. With the Tarte primer there was a difference in my skin, but not as much as with the Urban Decay. I took one lippie off since it has poor packaging, I was not able to get all of the product out. I took another lippie off since it didn't make my pores look smaller like the primer that I use now, Urban Decay. Nice primer, but I will repurchase the Urban Decay pore perfecting primer since it works better for me.

I like this primer. It doesnt make me break out and it seems to do a pretty good job of preparing my skin for foundation. Im not sure that it helps control oil or make my makeup stay longer though.

I really think you get your money's worth with this product. It may be a little on the expensive side, but it is going to last a long time. You only need little bits to go a long way. I have freckles, and like to flaunt them, so I've been trying to find the perfect primer to simply make my skin's texture look even without breaking it out. Seriously, I've been using this product every day for the past two months, and I do NOT break out whatsoever. I am very satisfied with this product. I hope they make it forever.

I really love the texture and all the ingredients on this primer, it is supposed to be REALLY good for the skin since it contains a loooot of natural oils and fruits in it. However..... I believe that it is EXPENSIVE, it is not true that you need just a liiiittle amount of it, at least not a pea size, I have combination skin and don't ever us more than a pea size of primer (any other) but from this I need like 2 1/2 pea sizes to cover all my face with it. The result is MATTE but fresh and natural. It is true that it feels like silk on the skin, but does not really holds the makeup during the entire day... I would buy it again more for the ingredients than for the results.

This primer is absolutely fantastic. I've tried several primers before and they all either left me feeling like I was wearing a mask or made my skin feel greasy and so on and so forth.

Tarte Clean Slate is amazing! It has the weirdest consistency of any makeup product I have EVER used. You put it on and it feels like silk on your face. Your skin is instantly mattified and feels incredibly smooth. Makes my foundation (Clinique) go on a million times smoother and it just makes my whole face look more smooth, clear and touchable!

I got this after I got a lovely sample from Sephora when there were Tarte reps going wild everywhere haha. Went back and bought it two days later, and I don't regret it at all.

Tarte also uses all-natural ingredients so you can feel good about putting it on your face.

When I run out, I'll definitely re-purchase.

I love this primer!! The best thing is that it is natural and I don't feel bad about putting it on my skin! I have very sensitive, acne prone skin and this doesn't irritate my skin at all. I will definitely be repurchasing!!!
