This is the 1st shampoo that effectively helped me to extend time between washing my hair. I used to wash my hair every other day (3-4 times a week), now I wash it only twice a week.
It contains salicylic acid that truly eliminates sebum at the roots but if I use this shampoo more than twice a week it dries a little bit my scalp. Actually on the regular basis there is no need to wash my hair three times a week now, but sometimes I still feel like to refresh my hair because of an unexpected occasion or whatever. And in case I need to wash it the 3rd time during the same week I prefer to use another shampoo.
I cannot say it nourishes my dry hair lengths. I still need to apply oil before washing my hair. But other shampoos for oily/combination hair that I used were leaving my lengths really dry and this one doesn't dry out but doesn't moisturize either. I cannot say it really works as a balancing shampoo for me. But still I find it better than other shampoos for oily hair.
This shampoo contains Vitamin B6 (in the ingredients list it is called pyridoxine).They say it prevents hair loss and also increases the production of melanin (the chemical that gives hair its color). I do believe that it might work if taking food supplement but difficult to say how effectively it is when added in a shampoo.
It also contains glycine derivative. It helps to prevent hair from damage by keeping PH balance.
As for SLS, this shampoo contains sodium laureth sulphate and tea-lauryl sulphate that is a gentle version of all SLS.
If someone is interested, here is a guide that I found once and now I check all the shampoos accordingly: 1. Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate – the worst 2. Ammonium Laureth Sulfate - very harsh but better than the above 3. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate - better than the above, but still a little bit harsh. 4. Sodium Laureth Sulfate - gentle, great pick. 5 TEA lauryl Sulfate - good pick 6. TEA Laureth Sulfate -good pick.
I personally believe this shampoo is worth the money you pay for it. (I buy it for 16 euro)

When I first tried this shampoo, I hated it. My hair was really damaged, and it didn't really like this shampoo for some reason, but now my hair likes it. I have fine hair, but lots of it, I and very oily roots, and I need shampoos to clean my scalp but do not take away moisture. This shampoo cleaned my scalp, and left my hair very smooth and stronger. Normally I use Lush rehab, and it's a bit the same. They both really clean my hair, but do not strip it. However I always use a conditioner after I've used Bain Divalent, because my ends are dry, but they've alway been dry, even though I have healthy lengths. I must warn you not to use it every single day. Use it once a week when you really want to clean your hair, but this isn't for every day use. If you want a shampoo for every day of the week, try Crystalliste. Crystalliste is very mild, and perfect for long hair.
It depends on your hair off course. My hair hates bain de force, it leaves a layer on my hair, and it makes it look greasy. And some of the styling products like ciment thermique and oleo relax serum were just awful. Only nectar thermique works, don't ask me why. Like I said it depends. If you really want to know if something works, just aks a sample.
I'm thinking of trying one of the bain nutritive shampoos, probably bain satin 2 or bain nutri-thermique. I really like nectar thermique, but I don't really like the masquintinse hair masque. So I don't know if bain satin 2 will be good for my hair.

I agree with Kérastase being very expensive, but it's better than supermarket shampoos. I've tried so many shampoos, and the supermarket shampoos really dried out my hair, and made it look static without any shine. So you pay for what you get. And it really lasts long, because you don't have to use a lot of shampoo, in fact you should add water instead of shampoo, using too much shampoo isn't good, and only use it on your roots, your ends will be cleaned when you rinse your hair.

I had such high hopes for this shampoo, but what a let down! I have long fine hair, but there is lots of it so it can look quite full and fluffy. I don't do color treatments or anything like that. I just shampoo every other day and use the blow dryer on it and sometimes the curling iron. Anyway, thought that this shampoo would make it easier to go longer between washings since I have heard this is better for your hair. The shampoo states that it is for oily roots and dry or sensitized ends. My roots can get a little oily on the second day between washings and I feel like the lengths of my hair are a bit dry.

The first time I used it, I could actually hear my hair squeaking as I rinsed it out. It was clean, but almost stripped clean. When I dried it, it felt like straw. It looked like a rat's nest. By the afternoon it felt like it had a residue on it, almost like I hadn't rinsed it all the way - even though I know I had.

I was determined to make it work, however, and gave it another shot on my next shampoo day. Same negative result. But the worst was yet to come...

By the evening of my second wash with this shampoo my head had a few lumps on it. It felt like a breakout on my scalp, but they weren't pimples. Just painful raised lumps like an allergic reaction.

That's it for me. I don't think I'll try Kerastase again, despite the hype. I am sad to see a full bottle go to waste, but whatever is in this stuff did not agree with my hair or my scalp.

Can't say I liked anything about this product. It's very expensive, the packaging looks nice but not exactly the most practical for when it comes to distributing the product easily and it made my hair incredibly oily. It also made my scalp itchy, and I started to develop dandruff by the end of the week. :(

My hairdresser recommended this stuff for my long, fine, colour-teated hair with very oily roots. It's ok, and perhaps it helps slightly with the oily roots to help me get another half day out of my hair, but that might also be all the dry shampoo that I have to use on the second day, and my hair still looks greasy! Expensive and not doing enough for the money, if you ask me. I wouldn't recommend it.

I can't live without this shampoo! My hair is very problematic, I have very oily roots and this is the only product that has helped me control the oil. My hair without this gets oily the same day I wash it, once a friend asked me if I still had my hair wet but it was just sebum (so embarrasing). But honestly, my problems went away with this shampoo, my hairdresser recommended it to me years ago and I've been loving it ever since. I don't even remember how many bottles of this I have bought. I love love this! The only bad thing is the price, is very expensive, but its worth it.

My hairdresser recommended this product to me for my oily, fine hair and I think it really does help. I also use the Kerastase Ciment Anti Usure conditioner - also a great product that conditions (and keeps static and fly aways at bay) without weighing hair down. Before, I had to wash my hair every day and would sometimes still end up with an oily scalp later on in the evening. This combination hasn't fixed my hair in that I no longer have oily roots and can wash my hair every 3 days or anything (i dont think anything will really do that) - but I can at least go a second day, albeit with my hair pulled up. Other drug store shampoos i used to use for volume and fine hair dont even come close to this as I would still end up with oily roots and a lot of static after blowdrying. Another tip my hairdresser has me do is to do a cold rinse after conditioning and to not scrub the scalp too much (or shampoo more than once) as the harshness actually brings more oil out. The products are kind of expensive but the salon sized versions are pretty good value for money.

This is an OK shampoo, but not as great as nearly 99% of Kerastase products. It contains a lot of salicylic acid and can make the scalp itchy if used consistently. It extends the "freshness" of my scalp slightly, Instead of having to wash my hair once avery 2 days it gets me probably half a day more. However, it does not get on that well with my chemically treated hair. My hair appear lifeless and limp (I do not believe that the claim it nourishes the length is correct - it leaves my hair dry). Not impressed: it is Ok if used on rotation with other shampoos, but I would not attempt using this every single time for prolonged periods as it would set my scalp on fire and make my lengths look brittle.
**EDIT: I gave this shampoo another go and I got sooo much better. results. My roots are less oily, it extends the time in between washes, I still do not think that it "moisturises" the lenghts but I get around this problem with the masque intense by Kerastase, which does a brilliant job. It has now became my shampoo of choice.

This shampoo is pretty good. It helps to balance my oily scalp, but doesn't dry out my color-and-heat damaged lengths. I've been so happy with everything I've tried from Kerastase, and this doesn't fall short of my high expectations. I wish the line was more natural, but other than that I'm a huge fan.

Bain Divalent is the best shampoo I have used for greasy scalps. I have to wash my hair every day and I often get greasy roots even on the same day, which is just depressing. I got this shampoo hoping that I might be able to wash my hair every other day without looking like I have not washed it for weeks. Now I am addicted to it.
Usually, I shampoo twice and it lathers well the second time - it is one of the few shampoos that actually leaves my hair and scalp completely clean, with no greasy residue. Predictably, it is not gentle enough on my colour-treated lengths, which is why I wash them with Bain Chroma Riche. I never condition my roots and, amazingly, my hair remains clean for the best part of two days! It does not give me incredible results, it just cleans my hair and somehow keeps it clean for longer. I like it enough to have bought a pro-size bottle which now dwarfs all the other products in the bathroom. I would highly recommend it, I really love not having to wash my hair every day!

*EDIT* I'm onto my second bottle and am still very happy with this shampoo. It doesn't seem to contribute to my scalp itchies and it leaves my hair feeling clean and conditioned. I can't give it the full five stars because L'Oreal is not an ethical company, but damn. 4.5 stars.

So far, I'm generally happy with this shampoo. I have an oily, somewhat itchy scalp (not much in the way of flakes though) with a lot of fine, highlighted hair. In general, I have to wash daily or every other day; either my scalp will be dirty by then, my lengths will have become dry or tangled, or my scalp will have become itchy. I've not tried to reduce the frequency of my washes. This shampoo is quite silky, spreads easily on my hair, doesn't foam excessively and leaves my hair feeling very clean, but also the softest any shampoo has ever made my hair feel. After drying, my roots look clean and very glossy. The trouble is this: after a day, my scalp gets itchy. I haven't used this shampoo enough times to really figure out if it's contributing to the itchiness, as my scalp eventually gets quite itchy no matter the shampoo, especially in the winter, but I expect more from Kerastase. If I decide that Bain Divalent is not causing more than the usual itchiness, I'll come back and give it the higher rating it deserves; otherwise I'll leave my rating as it is.
Other details: It's expensive for sure, I purchased mine at Winners for $25 CDN, which is a very good price. The scent is nothing remarkable - vaguely detergenty but it does not linger and it's quite mild. I only have to shampoo once and use roughly a quarter-sized dollop, which is much less than I use with other 'poos. This does not worsen my tangling problem. The packaging is fiddly and awkward to handle, but it does look relatively nice in my shower.
Even if this does make me itchier than usual, I have already purchased a new bottle because I can't resist discounted Kerastase.
Gorgeous hair, questionable scalp. Will update in a month or two.

This is a good overall shampoo for oily scalp and dry ends. It doesn't live up to my beloved Nioxin Scalp Recovery Medicating Cleanser but its a decent 2nd. I got this on a whim while on vacation. I suffer from an oily scalp with occasional itch and flakes but not that much. I decided to give this a try since I was low on my Nioxin and dared to try something diff. It does cleanse my scalp pretty well and doesn't leave my hair dry or that tangled. It is pricey and I don't think I will be repurchasing since I already found an HG shampoo for my scalp issues that works better and is more moisturizing to my hair. Overall decent but nothing special IMO. I will use it up and move on.

I got this because I have oily roots but very dry length. This does nothing for both. My root are still oily if I don't use this every day and my hair got drier from this. And for the price, it's not worth it. Pantene products(which I'm not using anymore) gave better results for ALOT less money.

I have extremely oily/greasy roots. I've tried everything from .99 Drugstore and Salon Clarifying/Purifying formulas. This product did not last any longer on my greasy roots than the VO5 Kiwi Lime .99 Shampoo. It actually made my scalp start to itch after only 1 shampooing, too. Will be taking product back to salon for full refund.

I like this shampoo. It gets my greasy hair really clean and helps it to remain fresh for longer. Also it doesn't dry out my hair and has a nice smell. What more could I want? I would certainly buy again.

I bought this as I have dry damaged hair with oily roots. However, I’m not convinced that this shampoo was gentle enough on the dry lengths of my hair so have since switched to Oleo Relax shampoo.

Disappointing.. My HD recommended this, I have Asian fine hair that is oily on top. I always wash every 2nd day and my HD thought that by using this I would only need to wash my hair every 3 days. How wrong she was!

Hair feels nice the first time washing, but on the 2nd day it feels very limp and lifeless, especially at the top. I tried to leave it for 3 days but ended up using Klorane to stop the oiliness. Definitely felt alot worse than Bain 2 (even that didn't help out).

I felt I really need to lather twice for the shampoo to even distribute through my hair.

Almost finishing up with this bottle and will not repurchase. Not to sure if it is animal tested which is also starting to deter me from the Kerastase range.

I have been getting really down about my hair for a few months because it's so greasy. I wash my hair every two days but usually the morning after the day I washed it, it looks SO bad. I really don't want to have to start washing my hair every day so I decided to try this after it was recommended in a magazine. So far, so good. I'm on 'second day' hair today and it looks OK - meaning, I've not needed to use my Bumble & Bumble dry shampoo!

There are so many conflicting reviews of this product on here. I don't mind the smell and it lathered OK for me.

For the price, i wasnt impressed with this product. It left my hair with a film on my hair and my mum used this, who has normal hair, also said the same. It did moisturise the ends of my hair but it definatly didnt control oil infact it made my roots greasy even though i had just washed my hair. Had to re wash my hair the next day as it was limp and lifeless. Will not repurchase. I much more prefer pantene pro v and loreal
