This color is GORGEOUS however it doesn't last and you have to really layer it. I noticed on my top lip it doesn't fill in as well as my bottom lip. If you put it over liner it stays a little longer. In the winter it looks really pretty over Estee Lauders Lipstick in Spiced Cider, as a refresher. Its too dark for these warmer months though.
I wouldn't buy it again, based on this, but I don't regret buying it the first time.

I really tried but I cannot wear Gitane. The red is too warm for me. And the super shine of Lipglasses don't pair well with this shade of brick red for my skintone. I get a muddy red shiny lips and my skin looks dirty rather than brightened. I learned my lesson, I should stick with cool toned blue based reds that are more matte or stained looking in finish. Pretty color in the tube but it's not for me.
For reference I'm Stila 30 watts, Chanel Beige, and GA LSF 5.5 with black hair and dark brown eyes.

Aahh! This is such a sexy gloss! I haven't had a lipglass in a while, though, so the stickiness is really off-putting :( the color and shine, though, are totally worth it. On warm-toned Asian me, this is a gorgeous bronzy-red with lots of shimmer, and even though the "SHA-BAM" color and look of this gloss are very shortlived, the faded color is actually quite nice--NOT FUSCHIA, yay--and sticks around for a good bit. I would totally repurchase this if it weren't LE :(
One lippie off for being heinously sticky, and a 3 for packaging because my tube seems to be a bit oozy.

This product goes on beautifully and is a magnificent shade of strong red/bronze colour with heaps of gloss and light-reflective qualities, but...... IT DOESN'T LAST!!! It's a "one-minute" wonder with a staying power = zero. Great for photographic modelling, but not for everyday wear - going out, eating, work, exercising unless you are prepared to continually reapply it.

I was surprised by this lipglass. When I first applied it, it was a beautiful berry shade that didn't turn fuschia on my pigmented lips and against my MMM yellow-toned skin. However, that shade faded fairly quickly (we're talking 20 minutes or so) into a medium, opaque rose color. As I was expecting the coppered/bronzed red that everyone else got, I was surprised...maybe a little disappointed...but then the more I got used to it, the more I realized that it was flattering and completely appropriate for a variety of functions. I could definitely wear this one to work as it isn't too "nighttime" or shimmery, but could also layer it for a more dramatic look. It's a nice change from the usual sheer, peachy-pinks that seem to dominate the lipglass line, so if it weren't for the fact that it was a limited edition color, I'd repurchase.

A warm bronzed red, as other have described. Pigmented enough that you can wear it alone, but not overly intense or vampy. Shimmery and shiny enough that it adds a lusciousness to your pout, but not over-the-top glitter. Unique and gorgeous. A must have!

OHHHH what an awesome color! looked kind of scary in the tube, but when applied looks like a muted warm red, with a little sparkle. i am SO BUMMED this is a limited edition! i think i'll have to get a backup, if i can resist trying out another color. i love lipglass in general, i can't believe i've waited this long to try it. this color can look just a little above natural with a light application, or full out slutty red with a heavy application. got love that. my favorite lipglass color so far!

Having read the raves here, I bought this as my first lipglass. I really like it. It's a bronzey red that plenty of people can wear. Pigmented and sparkly. It can be easily layered or used with intensity, but when it starts to dry or if you just put a tiny on, it looks fabulous. As a lipglass, it lasts forever. It is sticky, but it's a small price to pay to have the gorgeous colour on for so long. If I finish in time, I'll definitely repurchase. If only it wasn't LE.

I didn't bother trying this lipglass after seeing it in the tube because I was sure it was too intense and dramatic for my fair NC15 complexion. It is the warmest bronzed red. It can be layered for a dramatic look or applied sparsely for a more natural sheered look. Very versatile. I love this since I have a hard time finding suitable red lipcolors. I hate that this is limited edition so I am trying to swap for as many backups as I can.

I held off on buying this lipglass because I'm afraid it might look like ornamental or Chanel's Spark but Ornamental and Spark has more of a copper/orangy to the red whereas Gitane has more berry undertones. On lips, Ornamental reflects a golden/coppery sheen and this one has a pure berry color. Looks very pretty though =) is this LE?

I kind of held off buying this color b/c I wasn't sure it was a must-have one for me...even though, I'm a MAC lipglass freak! Well, I will definately get a lot of wear out of this color..it shows up a pretty reddish berry color with some coral undertones and slight shimmer on my lips. It's not too bright, and I have a hard time pulling of some red colors..this one definately works for me, though. I'm a MAC NC30, and it really brightens up my face. Great color!!

This was my first lipglass purchase. I had received others in swaps before, but there was never a color I liked enough to pay full price. All the lipglass colors always seemed either neutral or cool. There were very few warm toned colors that I was aware of. Until now! This color is to die for. I think the model in the d'Bohemia ads is wearing this and it looks like a brick orange in the picture. In person, it's a much more complex color. It has a hint of rose and copper in it. This reminds me a lot of both Victoria's Secret gloss in Sophie and Nars Medea lacquer. Overall, texture-wise, it's just a bit too thick and sticky for me, but the same goes for all lipglassess (except Tux de Luxe, oddly enough, which I find watery.) I only need to use a very small amount of Gitane to get the color to show so I would describe it as highly pigmented. It gets on my teeth worse than any other gloss I've ever tried though which is why I rate it a 4 and not a 5. Overall it's a great color though and wonderful for us warm toned girls!

I really like this shade! I think it's different than Ornamental in that, Ornamental is more pinkish and this has a bit more orange and brown. It's also a bit more intense in staying power. It looks really nice with neutral makeup or black thinly-lined eye makeup.

Lovely red, nothing overwhelming here with more staying power than Ornamental, nearly same color.

Another winner from MAC! Speaking for myself I don't know how I lived before MAC lipglasses!
This is like a more pigmented Ornamental with more staying power than Ornamental (which I also own and love). If you want a neutral -- not to blue or brown red -- then this is the color for you! Gorgeous! I am sure this will used up by the end of the year! Bring it on!

I love this lipglass! The color is a gorgeous red which would look fantastic on nearly anyone. It is a sheer red with just a hint of beautiful shimmer. Gitane would look great with jeans and a T-shirt, as well as for a black tie affair. It is a sexy and classy color. I think it would look especially gorgeous on those of use who have brown or hazel eyes --> the color of the lipglass just brings out the warmth in the eyes!

Love it! A beautiful warm red with a pearlized shimmer. This does not do the dreaded-turning-fuschia on me. It's wonderful on its own and gorgeous over Dubonnet. A perfect red for my neutral/warm coloring (green-gold eyes, FFF-MMM, auburn hair). I've now purchased all three of the D'Bohemia glosses and I'd have to say that MAC did a great job with this collection!

I'm a super pale redhead and lipglosses that are too light make me look like I have no lips. I like that this is very pigmented, but as sheer or dark as you want it to be. This is my first red lipcolor that actually works with my neutral/warm skin. No fuschia tones at all.

A red lipgloss with pigmentation that I can wear without it turning a horrid fuschia? Sold!
Gitane is gorgeous. That should be said right up front. It is densely colored for a gloss, and goes on smoothly. Even on my NW20 paleish redheaded self, it looked wonderful -- this is the red I've been waiting for, the perfect red I never found before now. I don't get orange at all, though it is definitely a *warm* red, not a blue-red. Sometimes I want to scream at MAC because several of their products I love best are LE items, and when you find a HG that's an LE, it just has to break your heart a little.
This has the typical texture and scent of MAC Lipglasses, which I love. Even sticky glosses don't always have much staying power on me, which is why I'm always delighted when I find one that lasts more than two hours.
Backups will be purchased, oh, yes. Why, oh why, did it have to be LE?
