Really pretty kit for easy, professional looking smoky brown eyes. I think this would look great on any eye color. Can be used for daytime or more dramatic looks. Great staying power, easy to blend. I'll use this until it's all gone, which is rare for me.

This review is for the single shadow called Brownstone. It is Gorgeous! I wear mostly MAC and Urban Decay but I purchased the Eye Kit in Skyscraper (gray) and got this as a sample. It looks reddish brown in the container but swipes on a shimmery, brownish burgundy with a hint of red. The formula is smooth and there is no fallout once I tap my brush. No glitter, just slightshimmer. This color is gorgeous on golden goddesses and I imagine it would be beautiful on any lovely lady. This color reminds me of Mac Bronze mixed with Glamour Check.
The primer Mally includes is decent. I prefer primer potion though.

I love Mally's smokey eye kits in all her colors, though my favorites are plum chelsea and brownstone. The staying power of these kits makes it number one in my opinion. All come with an eyeshadow base and three shadows. The instructions to make a smokey eye are dummy proof, and the makeup lasts all day.

Ok I have been a MUA member for YEARS and very rarely do I like something so much I actually feel the need to write about it. This is the absolute most wonderful palette!
I saw Mally for the first time on QVC and thought her products looked good, so I went over to Henri Bendel and got the brownstone kit.
Brownstone is AMAZING. I have gotten soo many compliments on my makeup that I have worn this every day since I got it.
I do exactly what mally says in her little instructions and it is so easy and it produces such a beautiful look!
LOVE love love brownstone. I want to buy plum chelsea next.

I am absolutely amazed by these shadows! They are high-quality and the palette case is sooo cute too. These bring my eyes out and I find these better than a lot of the overly hyped mac shadows out there too...(yep, I said it). I love the lightest shade the most-the perfect highlight shade! Every single shadow is just perfect and so finely milled. The price isn't at all high considering the quality of all four shadows AND super cute and pretty packaging. I need to buy more Mally palettes!

This eyeshadow is milled very finely, and therefore does not go into the creases of your eye and leave a unsightly mess as so many shadows do after only a few minutes. The color is enigmatic and works well on all eye shades and skin tones. Also, the applicator for the shadow is a double-ended stick that performs beautifully. I would buy this again especially with the exciting green metallic holder the set comes in...simply deadly and beautiful...great for a holiday gift.

Smokey eyes are easy with this kit. I like the eyeshadow primer in the kit. There are 3 shades of brown and instructions to look great. I suggest using good brushes with. The shadows are easy to blend and look good on their own.

I bought the kit in Plum Chelsea first since I love wearing purples, but I also need neutral browns, so this palette fits the bill. But still, it doesn't wow me the way Plum Chelsea does. First of all, the lightest e/s shade is quite white (compared to the champagne color found in Plum Chelsea) so its good for the brow bone, but I wouldn't use it all over. The medium brown shade is a bit shimmery, a bit coppery, but very wearable. The darkest brown shade is a matte medium brown, which I use for my brows. The "primer" and separate eyeliner (black) are the same as in the Plum Chelsea kit (both eh, so so... I like my Urban Decay Potion Primer and MAC technakhol for their longevity). Overall, I'll keep this kit around for the brow color and in case I'm feeling very "brown", but otherwise, I wouldn't buy another brownstone kit.

I love this kit! I will definately buy all the colors that were made. The only thing I don't like about this is the way it opens up...OMG...It is so hard to open sometimes, but overall, the colors are great. The e/s primer is awesome. Never cakes, never fades. Perfect!!

i really like this kit. the colors work great for me. the base is a little light for my skin but it really doesnt matter since i cover it with the eyeshadow anyway. i use the darkest color to contour my crease as opposed to using it as a liner, like Mally demonstrates. i would definitely recommend it.

I love the packaging, which is chic and sturdy. I really like the City Chick Smokey Eye Kit in purple, which is SO dramatic and gorgeous. However, on me the browns in the Brownstone palette are disappointingly and weirdly off. They're just not flattering. You'd think browns would be the most universally flattering and easiest to wear of all shades, but these just miss the mark. The base is also sooo dark and yellow, way too dark for me (PPP, red-blonde hair, dark brown eyes). I'm disappointed. I do really like the shimmer shade here though, and use it on my cheekbones as well as on my brow bones, by my tear ducts, and in the center of my lids. It's sheer and lovely, a very fine texture, which I appreciate.

I had never heard of this line before, and purchased this based on reviews here. Basically a neutral brown based palette, with an eyelid primer. Are the colors remarkable? No. Do I find myself reaching for this pretty much every morning since I got it? Yes. These are good quality shadows which can be used for a professional day look, or glammed up for night (especially with the black eyeliner that is included in purchase.)

This kit is expensive, but really is a nice combination of colors.
I have many many eye shadows to choose from, but find myself reaching
for this kit almost everyday. It's perfect for work with lighter
application, but can be touched up for a more smokey look in a flash
if you have a date right after your workday.

Beautiful, beautiful colors. They really work with most skin tones. The lid primer does keep the color intact all day. A little costly but well worth it.

This product is a bit pricey but it's totally worth it. I now sport a very sexy smokey eye that looks like it was done by a artist like Mally herself and it took me less than five minutes to apply! The colors blend beautifully and they are very flattering to my gray/blue/green colored eyes. I can't wait to get the other colors. The packaging is awesome too!

From the start, the packaging is very impressive with its sexy, pink snakeskin sheer case. Inside the case is a green metallic casing for the eye shadow palette and one eyeliner pencil. Also included, is an excellent pamphlet of instructions and tips as well as a short bio on Mally. Upon opening the palette case you will find: a full size rectangular mirror, Mally's wonderful cream-to-powder eye shadow base, a pearlescent ivory highlighter, a shimmery chocolate eye shadow for the lid, and a darker toned matte brown eyeshadow to use as a liner around the eye. The eyeliner pencil is to be used in the inner rim of the eye to give the final pop of color. If it weren't for this hip packaging I would complain about the price of this eye kit, $39.50 + tax and S&H.
I am AA and wear Mac's C7 and Philosophy's Air-brushed Canvas in Bronze. With my skin tone and on top of Mally's wonderful neutral toned eye shadow base, the shimmery chocolate eye shadow does not show up like I had expected from watching the QVC demonstration. After trying it on myself I soon realized the reason the model of choice for the Brownstone demonstrations is the palest complexion of all the QVC models. The chocolate lid color is of medium quality with no real depth but more of a soft tone. The shimmer is only in the palette and does not show on the lid as much as I love with Mac, Urban Decay, or even Milani products. However, it is flattering enough for wearing to church, work or events at my child's school. I tried to build the color for a 'night on the town' look and it did not show my hard work.
Switching gears, the eyeshadow base is on another level. The base is soooo great! It has the same staying power as UDPP or more and does not crease at all, even after a long day. So when I wear this kit I know I will not need to pack it in my purse b/c I know the application will last a long time. It also smoothes the lid for a smooth application of eyeshadows. I even dip in the palette just to use the base when I am wearing eyeshadows of another brand. It is that wonderful. BTW, QVC now sells the Mally Beauty Cream to Powder Eye Shadow Base in its own compact. Definitely worth trying.
Overall, the purpose of the product is great as it is very convenient for quick makeup application by removing the guesswork out of combining three different eyeshadows to achieve the hip and sexy smokey eye. Also, Mally's instructions are so clear and concise that even beginners can achieve this look. I said I would repurchase because I would purchase again for a friend or family member who is of a lighter skin tone. I, myself, will try the Nolita Navy or Skyscraper, which were demonstrated on AA QVC models and looked gorgeous.

I am c40, Becca Olive, LSF 6.5 and this is too subtle for me. I end up with much lighter lids than I like and the brown is too subtle to make any impact. It's just too close to my skintone to be of any use.

I love this product! It is expensive at $35.92 introductory price at QVC and eventually it will be $39.00. Unfortunately, I am not the only one who likes this as people hang on to it when they get it and it is, therefore, not usually available on ebay. However, it is definitely worth the price as you get a lid primer, three COORDINATING eye shadows, and an eye liner pencil for that price. The packaging is classic Mally pink and includes a mirror in the case for application. I am a big eye liner fan as I am lucky enough to have long dark lashes so I love the idea of smudging the darkest shadow over my liner. Once applied, my eyes look fabulous and even if you have a heavy hand, it does not look overdone. I have very oily eye lids and it still lasts all day. Mally makes this in multiple colors and they are all good. I never thought that I could do the smokey eye look, but this kit gives you all the tools and instructions to look just like the stars and models we admire. I will definitely repurchase.

Basically, I have the oiliest eyelids known to mankind. I've used every primer or base available to stave off the oil slick that usually happens a few hours after e/s application. To boot, I live in a very humid climate. So on a whim, I bought this smokey eye kit off QVC.
I'm pretty darn fair and rosy, and the primer is a bit dark and yellowish going on my lids. Kind of horrifying. BUT once I layer the first shadow on, the yellowy tones disappear. Just a nice, bright taupe color. Beautiful. I usually wear this shade and the medium brown shade on my lids for my everyday work makeup. If I'm going all out, I'll add in the deeper brown (which is a really lovely shade). The included eyeliner doesn't get much wear, but it too a decent product.
As for that primer... the first time I wore these shadows, I reached for my kit after three hours out of instinct. Remember, I'm used to needing frequent touch-ups. Otherwise, my shadow tends to morph into one oily line across the middle of my lid. Mally, though, is amazing! My shadow still looked freshly-applied, and the fresh look lasted until I took the makeup off in the evening. Having to only apply shadow ONCE and have it last and look so pretty for over twelve hours? I'm sold. Great, great product.
