I enjoy this product, and color!!! Now, granted....it might not be the red to make everyone happy, but I think a good chunk of ladies will enjoy this shade. I also have found it very difficult to find sheer red liners, so I was excited to find this at all! I have paired it with NARS scandal gloss, and it's fantastic....I'm warm toned gal, and I guess I just don't see the orange qualities of this screaming at me...though I agree it could work with some corals to give them a little more oomph!!! I feel that this is quite pigmented for a sheer liner, and is still hanging in there after some of my gloss started to fade. So, I think it wears nicely as well. But, I haven't been eating or anything like that....I just think sheer liners have there place, just like sheer lipsticks....It's not what I grab when I want a 24 hour, no budge look, but I love having options! And, yes...the price is steep, but everything Chanel makes is....and though I don't think I would pay full price for it, I certainly will continue to look elsewhere for a better deal.

I have been lemming for this for a long time. I finally tried it (didn't buy it from Sephora.com as I'd initially planned, thankfully!) Instead, I tested in at the Chanel counter. I love the product. Wow, incredibly smooth and silky application and wear. It's a light gloss, and something I would totally wear in the spring/summer months especially. HOWEVER, Grenadine is the darkest color available, and since we're heading into the Autumn and Winter months, I'm looking for something to fit the seasons. Despite being the darkest color available right now, this looks more like something I'd wear in the Summer...at the office. In "real life" I prefer to wear much deeper, cooler, and jewel-toned shades on my lips. So for now, I'm keeping this item on my wish list, hoping I can snag myself some for next summer, but I won't be paying cold hard cash ($27.50!!!) for it until they come out with some deeper/cooler colors.

Grenadine is a red with warm undertones. On me (cool PPP), the orange tones were too strong to wear.
It's a pity there's no cool red among the initial six shades available for this new category of lipliners. Hopefully Chanel will release one in the future.
Costs $27 and has a great texture, like a pencil version of the Aqualumiere lipsticks (my HG l/s line). This is really more of a gloss in a stick than a standard l/l.

Le Crayon Gloss is the new lipliner for Chanel (introduced Summer 2005) to be used either alone or with their new Cristalle lipglosses. It’s in a pencil form, with a point that needs sharpening (not self-sharpening) and comes with it’s own sharpener. The texture is much, much softer than their other lip pencils and they can be used to either line and fill in the entire lip or just the outer line. They are perfect with the new Cristalle glosses as some of the glosses are too light to be worn on their own. The texture is fabulous, but since they are so much softer and the color is not as intense as their usual liner, the wearability is not as good. But it’s a small price to pay for the ease of application and how wonderful they feel on your lips. The only negative that I have so far (other than the re-application factor) is the tip is so soft, it has a tendency to break when sharpened and you waste some of the product – not good a Chanel prices.
Grenadine is a very beautiful sheer cherry red. It’s the darkest of the new Le Crayon Gloss pencils and does a beautiful job of “darkening” some of the lighter lip glosses, like Pink Candy. This will be great all year around because of the great color and looks great under almost all pinks and reds. Oddly enough, its also great under sheer corals and makes them a brighter more reddish coral. Love it!
