The marketing blurb for this is pretty crap but I honestly have to admit its true - it does give a 'sexy slept-in look'. I have long layered asian hair and I scrunch a dab of this in the ends to give a bit of separation and smooth the wiry ends. It does not leave a crunchy or sticky/dirty feel like other texture products or creams. It is slightly richer than the grooming creme so I think this is good for thick coarse hair and the grooming creme for finer hair.
It is pretty pricey and hard to find outside of the US.

Scored a pretty bronze tube of this stuff for 13 bucks after trying a sample of it. This is my summer time staple. I live in NY, where it can get humid and for some odd reason, a lot of homes dont come with central air conditioning, so blow drying can really suck!
I've been trying to fall in love with the natural texture of my hair so I dont have to blow dry as much and this stuff by B&B really helps the courtship along! I use a curl enhancing cream on wet hair and air dry it as much as I can before blasting it with hot air for as little time as possible before putting it in a bun over night (my hair is color treated and porous so air drying takes FOREVER). Brilliantine goes on the next morning and it just polishes the texture I'm left with, defining the curls and waves and controls frizz and the best part is that all it takes is a pea sized dab and BAM! I'm done.
LOVE IT.

Super expensive for the size of the tube, but it lasts for over a year for me. I have near waist length (when straight) hair, and use this as a finishing product when straightening my hair. The smell is amazing, and it holds down the flyaways, and gives my hair beautiful texture. I love it.

I really like this product. It makes my hair super-shiny, and really defines my curls which are usually very limp and wavy (2a curls to 2b curls). However you really need to limit the amount that you use on your hair to stop it from being crunchy/greasy.
I would only be able to buy this product very rarely, but it's a good treat :) I just wish it was available in New Zealand.

I got a packet of this in my order and I've been hoarding it because I love it so much. It's sort of weird that bumble & bumble claims on the package that they can't define what it is, but it seems to be a styling substance that adds sheen and separation.
I like this product because it tames my hair when it's frizzy and thick, but it never feels greasy or oily like hair oils sometimes do. It makes your hair feel sleek and slippery, if that makes sense.

I got several sample packs of this with my b+b orders, Ive gotten 5 uses out of the first one and theres still plenty left. I use a good bit of this too, and apply it to my damp/half dry hair before I either blowdry or let air dry and it seems to smooth down the waves and thickness of my hair. Thats about all it does in terms of styling so Im not too impressed with it and Im not sure that I would purchase it after I use up all the samples.
UPDATE- i did some research and found out that this is "an oil based styling cream" that adds sheen and seperation. Now that Ive used it a few more times with different bb prep and styling products it seems to work well and i do notice the thing about the seperation and as far as sheen, i also use shine on spray after flatironing my hair and using the two products in conjunction really makes a noticable shine and sleekness and smoothing down of flyaways.

Love this stuff, I go back to it over and over. It's the perfect polish for my fine, wavy hair. Just adds the right hint of manageability, shine, and texture.

Like many reviews have said, you've really got to find out what works for you. I had first used this through my blow dried straight hair and it made it a pretty awful looking wave. I then tried it through my damp hair and used the littlest bit. It has helped nourish my dead ends and made my hair silky smooth, and having naturally unruly curly hair, it helped straighten it very well.
The product itself is quite expensive but a little goes a long way! The new packaging is pretty. I would definitely repurchase.
Edit: I've finally discovered now what this product is meant to do. The reason many people are getting a greasy look and feel is because their hair isn't very dry. This is for adding moisture to your hair - so if you've dry hair this would be brilliant for you!

Did absolutely nothing for my fine hair. If I use a little it does nothing ...if I use a little more it makes my hair greasy looking. Returned it.

I don't know why, but I loved the concept of this product and couldn't wait to buy it. I have naturally wavy hair about half-way down my back which I curl or smooth with a large iron. I tried using this product in all the ways I read about to no avail. It did not seem to do a thing for my hair, no matter how I tried it. I could not even tell I had it in and when I tried to use more, it looked the same, but just felt a little greasy. I won't be buying this again as it is very expensive for something you can't even tell is in your hair!

Ok, so I tried VERY hard to like this product but it just doesn't work for me. I read hundreds of reviews before buying it (17 pounds is expensive for such a small tube!) but I am very disappointed in the results. Maybe it just doesn't work on my thick, wavy hair. It seems that everyone has used a very small amount but nothing happened to my hair when I used a pea-sized amount. I had to pile it on for my hair to look remotely styled but unfortunately, it still looked frizzy and untamed. I tried the product on wet and dry hair both to no avail. The smell is nice and the packaging is good too, but the product is too expensive and ineffective as far as I'm concerned.

Love this stuff! The smell is wonderful and it gives seperation and a slight hold without making hair feel chemically. It only takes a VERY small amount (I learned this the hard way lol) to do the job. My hair is about 3in below my shoulders and a dime size amount is all it takes.
Will repurchase!

Love this stuff. I carry with me in my kit when I do photo shoots ( I'm a Hairstylist). It is light weight, smells good, and most importantly, it does exactly what it says it does. Worth the money, as one tube can last you months, even if you use it every day.

This is one of my favorite styling products. It is a stuling cream with very pleasant smell. I use it on my fine, bleached and straight hair to give it some wave and texture. A lot of similar products made my hair very stiff, glued together and crunchy. This one makes it soft and movable plus it conditions my dry ends too! P.S I use it on dry hair. I apply small amout, rub my hands together and then srunch my hair.

I really do love Brilliantine... I have a shorter haircut with lots of layers and this helps define them and piece the hair out in a really natural way.
After I dry my hair, I emulsify a nickel sized blob and rub it into my hair. I've noticed since I've started using it, that my hair just looks better when I do use it and I can tell when I don't. It SORT OF smooths down these crazy kinky hairs I've been growing (they literally stick straight up or are weirdly curly while the rest of my hair is smooth and nice) but not in the same way Biosilk does. I haven't had the grease issue other reviewers have been talking about.
If you're looking for dramatic definition though, this probably is not for you... this is definitely more subtle.

Epic fail for me. did nothing for my fine hair. not frizz control, no definition, no shine. and definitely no tousled wave look. just fuzzy messy hair. and if you put just a tad too much, your hair will look greasy.

I've gotten so many compliments on my hair since I started using this on my long, fine, wavy hair which is also stubborn, limp, and dull. I found this doesn't work for me when applied to wet hair--no effects. However, when applied to dry hair it adds shine, enhances waves, and gives really nice separation. Usually when I try to get the "tousled, just rolled about in the hay"-hair, I end up looking like a dirty crackhead. But Brilliantine gives me sexy, soft effortless hair. :) I use FF Glossing Cream on wet hair to tame my frizz, wait for my hair to dry, and spread a dollop of Brilliantine; I have very long hair now so I use quite a bit. I also love that the effects actually last until I wash my hair again. I'm usually a cheapo when it comes to hair products, but this is worth it.

This is a weird product. I've tried it a couple of times, and now I've given up. Did not work at all for my fine hair.
Applied to dry hair it did kinda nothing - no shine, no visible effect. When used on damp hair it made it tangly and greasy looking.
Guess I'm not a big fan of the separation effect, my hair ended up looking limp, thin and unhealthy. Definitely NOT a "sexy slept in" look.
And it really expensive. Will NEVER repurchase! I like the smell and the package though.
EDIT: Found a new way of using this, and it kinda works nicely now. I'm giving this 3 lippies instead of 1. I mix two tiny drops with Styling Creme, avoiding my roots, and blow dry my hair upside down. I get lots of volume and silky soft texture with a bit of a tousled look. Wouldn't buy this again though, but now I'll be able to finish my tube.

Great great stuff. For my medium length bob, I put a dime sized amount on damp hair, pull my hair over my head in a loose pony tail and sleep on it. The next morning when I let my hair down, it is wavy, shiny and smells fresh. I love the Bumble and Bumble products....I also use the Color support shampoo and conditioner and Spray de Mode, and my hair has never looked or felt better.

I don't know, this product doesn't seem to do anything for my hair. Nothing good, nothing bad. Definitely not what I would expect from a product called "brilliantine"...
Used alone on dry hair, it didn't bring any shine, any visible separation. However I want to use it up, since it was not cheap, so I use it sometimes combined with Kenra Glossing Serum before air drying, and it seems to define my waves a little bit. When I use it though, my hair seems to be more difficult to comb through.
Smells ok, but like I said, it doesn't make much (if any) difference in my hair.
