Haven't found this lipstick at all drying, having said that I did use a lipbalm underneath about half an hour before application. I'd say it was a very similar tone and colour to BB Brownie Pink lipstick, its a pinky beige shade, but a shade or two lighter than the BB. It's ever so slightly too pale to be used on it's own on me (mac nc35/nc37) but it looks great with Clinique Lipblush or MAC Caramellow to add a little depth. Love it as an everyday go to lipstick and perfect with strong smokey eyes of any colour as its so neutral. Love the matte finish and will definitely repurchase!

I have a love hate relationship with this product. I find that all of MAC's matte lipsticks are way to drying to be worn alone and Velvet Teddy is no exception. Wearing a gloss over a matte lipstick defeats the purpose of having a matte lipstick to me. I'd rather just save myself the trouble and just buy a crèmesheen to begin with. This lipstick sat in my collection for months just being ignored because although I loved the color, it just dried up on my lips and looked crusty and I don't normally have dry lips. Then one day I stumbled upon a gloss from Maybelline called Luminous Latte and I thought I'd try it over Velvet Teddy because they are the exact same color, now this is my go to natural look. I love the two paired together and that is why I'd buy it again but alone, I would never wear this. If this didn't work out for you and you like the formulation of the Lustres then buy Jubilee, similar color just a different finish.

I have been looking for a lipstick like this FOREVER!!! I went into MAC looking for a good nude/nuetral/natural lipstick for my NC35 skin tone. The SA suggested "Honeylove", and in my opinion it was too pink and washed me out. I didn't like it at all so I exchanged it for Velvet Teddy. It's exactly what I'm looking for - the perfect natural lip color. It's not TOO nude but it's definitely very natural. It's like one shade darker than nude and it's lovely. It's like my natural lip color but better. I pair it with MAC's dazzle glass in "Baby Sparks" ,it is sooo gorgeous. Holy Grail nude <3

I received this is a swap. This is MLBB.
Really nice peachy nude color. Looks great with or without lip pencil or gloss. I prefer with Berry lip liner by hard candy and a tiny bit of oh baby lip glass.

A beautiful brownish nude. I pair this with spice lipliner to get a sixties look. I wanted honeylove but went for velvet teddy. It's a matte, so it lasts all day, even after a drink. It's drying but if you use a moisturizer it's ok.

Love this!!! Velvet Teddy and Touch are my favorite nudes! This is kind of drying but not as drying as other matte colors I have from MAC, so that's a plus. And this is a really soft pinkish brown i just love it. I'm a NW45 and it goes great with my skin tone. MY only thing to warn you about is to wear chap stick or else the lipstick will look horrible.

MakeupAlley lurker, first time poster! Have to give my 2cents...LOVE this lipstick. It's the perfect nude for me (NC37). I've got a dark grey line around my lips and this covers it perfectly all the while making my lips look very plump :). I'm not a huge fan of the matte lipsticks since they seem to settle in my lip lines and give my lips a cracked look but it's fixable with a little bit of clear gloss over top of this...

I love this lipstick! My absolute favorite, I'm very light skinned and it's perfect for my skin tone, and since its a neutral color i think it would go great with most skintones! Its a beige brownish/pink, I'm so glad I found this color, I get compliments on it a lot. I use it almost everyday, I've had the same tube for about a year now and it still hasn't ran out, I really recommend it!

This color is the perfect nude for my nc42 skin. It's a gorgeous pink beige that's dark enough to not wash me out. This color is not drying on my lips, and I can get 5-6 hours wear. It is a matte shade so if you feel mattes are to drying, I recommend a lip balm underneath or top with a gloss.

Gorgeous colour! Im NC44 and this gives me a perfect nudey pouty lip look. Its almost the same colour as my natural lips but a tad more brownish so it's essentially good for hiding my lip imperfections and adding a little warmth. It is drying but when applied over top of lip balm it is perfect and lasts a long time... this is what I like about the matte shades btw. Because a little of this goes a long way I believe it will last a long time before I have to repurchase. - I forgot to add that I sometimes use this as a cream cheek colour by doing a little swipe on each side and blending.

Edit: I unfortunately find this really drying even after adding lip balm so I havent been using it that often. Its such a wonderful colour though but just wish this was an amplified cream formula.

I am always on the hunt for the perfect nude; this is my HG! I have purchased it quite a few times. On me (deep olive skin) its a milky pinkish-brown and does NOT wash me out (even in the summer). Its a matte formula so a swipe of balm (like EOS) before applying will prevent it from drying out.

i ogled this colour online for ages and read so many reviews before deciding to pick it up or not. i was after a browny nude that would just flatter my features, and it seems universally flattering.
when i tried this on in the bright lights of the MAC store, it did deliver the lovely dark nude brown i was looking for, but it simply did not suit my skintone at all. it was too cool for me and looked a little too ashy on me. (i'm fair mediterranean for reference) so of course i didn't pick it up.
the reason i'm writing this review is to help anyone that is in two minds about purchasing this lipstick. you definitely need to try it on in person, or opt for one of Velvet Teddy's warmer cousins like 'Modesty' or 'Hug Me' if you think this may pull too cool on you as well.

This is a tough one to describe. It's like a muted brown-pink with strong orange undertones. It's like the browner sibling of MAC's Kinda Sexy, with a soft, velvet finish (this product is well-named, if nothing else!)

It took me a few days to warm up to this lipstick, just because I wasn't sure if I liked looking like I had brown lips from the 90's. However, there is enough pink / orange underneath the brown to make this a surprisingly good dark nude color on me (NC25). It makes me look/feel polished without being paranoid that my lip product is too obvious, especially for work.

NOTE: Due to how drying the MAC matte formlua is, I have to apply lightly / dab it on instead of applying it with horizontal strokes of the bullet. The formula is very opaque even over balm, which I highly recommend to keep your lips from drying out. I'm taking off a lippie because of how drying this lipstick can be and also to how unflattering it can be if you apply too much / cake it on.

This is probably one of, if not my favourite MAC lipstick. The texture of this lipstick is quite silky despite it being a matte colour. It has a light scent of vanilla which is really pleasant. This lipstick suits my skin tone amazingly. I'd describe it as a deep-beige. It's definitely my go-to lipstick, I carry it in my bag wherever I go!

My shade: NC25
Velvet Teddy: Matte midtone beiged pink, leans neutral on me

It took a few tries for me to get this lipstick to work, but once I got it, it's been an HG color for me. The color in the tube is a bit deceiving. It actually comes out a bit more cool/neutral on my warm skin and also tends to be a shade lighter than the bullet. I was slightly disappointed at first, but gave it a try anyway. I fell in love with it after a week or so because Velvet Teddy gives me a very Angelina Jolie look: pouty and soft. With a touch of nude lipliner and this lipstick, I'm set! Make sure your lips are moisturized and exfoliated, otherwise this lippie ends up accentuating the flakies and dryness since it is MATTE. It's balmy enough to be comfortable on my lips for most of the day + touch ups. The texture of this lipstick is actually phenomimal. I usually hate matte formulas, but this one has become a favorite!

I had my eye on this shade for quite a while, but was kind of put off by the color as it appears in the tube. However I'm such a fan of matte lipsticks I had to give it a try. I must say it worked out quite well on me, I'm NW43 & it matches perfectly with my complexion. Great nude w/warm undertones, love the peachy look it gives off. I top it off w/ Sinnamon for a subtle glossy look & it's perfect :)
