I think it's a very nice light hydrating lotion. Actually, having seen some negative reviews, I did not expect much, so it exceeded my expectations. So far, after just a couple of uses, I quite like it. My skin is soft and not greasy after using it. Would repurchase.

This is a pretty simple moisturiser. It does all you'd expect a moisturiser to do: hydrate and not clog pores. It doesn't plump, prime, smooth, sooth, rid blemishes or even skin tone but neither does it aggravate skin. I don't use it very often, preferring moisturisers that actually improve the look of your skin, but when I just want to add a bit of hydration, I use this. I can put this on knowing that my skin isn't going be overly oily and my pores aren't going to get clogged, therefore it gets used most often when I'm trying to clear up my skin a little. My ideal moisturiser would have both those properties as well as making my skin appear firmer and more even. Alas, it's difficult to find!
Incidentally, my skin isn't sensitive and I never really have a problem with irritation. A few reviewers have said it irritates their skin so keep that in mind. Also, it's fragranced and, while I love its smell, that might put some people off.
Update: I'm adding an extra star. While the above review still stands, my skin as been playing up lately and I've come to appreciate the certainty I have in knowing this doesn't clog my pores. Sometimes simplicity is exactly what you want in a moisturiser.

A very good oil free moisturizer, gives me a good level of hydration without turning oily. Not so good during winter if the weather is harsh, but this year it hasn't been too bad so far, so this lotion is sufficient. Spf 20 is a good thing for me as I don't like having to wear a separate spf product. I've used this in summer sun and didn't burn.. so good!
Have purchased twice. The price is around 20-24 euros in italian farmacies, which is reasonable, and the quantity is good, as a little goes a long way. Good stuff!
I would recommend to combination/oil skin ladies.

I got this is as a sample and it is the best moisturizer I have ever used.... the very best. I've been trying for the last year to get the pores on my chin to shrink. This product did it within days. My skin is soft, matte and clear. I wish it weren't so expensive, but I guess it's worth it to have such nice skin again.

Although my skin is oily, during cold weather, or when I am tired or travelling, certain areas of my face (around lips, nasal labial area, cheeks) could do with a little extra 'plumping'. I hoped that this cream would be the answer. It is light, moisturising without being greasy, was good under make-up, but unfortunately within a few days broke me out everywhere I used it, normally areas that I do not break out. It also caused irritation on the sensitive skin on my neck. I much prefer Bioderma Hydrobio Legere.

It was good initially , very hydrating . Unfortunately it's frangraced and it causes some allertic reaction on my facial skin. Will not buy it again for sure.

I am currently experiencing super sensitive skin (also oily/combination and prone to breakouts). I have been trying everything in desperation and was hoping this would be the answer. Bottom line is it has made me worse. I then checked the product ingredients and see that it has fragrance - one of the most likely causes of sensitivity!! Even though it claims to be 'hypoallergenic' fragrance, I'm not sure any fragrance can be described as this??

Very disappointed, and also feel a bit duped since their marketing places them fairly and squarely as dealing with sensitive skin. If you do have skin like mine, beware their other products too. The cleansing gel contains parabens and fragrance and the soothing mask fragrance and propylene glycol - all known as potential irritants.

I want to say I looooove this product but i only just like it.
It hydrates and somewhat soothes, but I know there are other products out there that do that little bit more.
I am using Avene's diacneal at night and this in the morning and it just doesnt seem to hydrate enough.

I think it is a nice moisturizer. It absorbes well into the skin, it is good as a makeup base; my skin did get shiny after a few hours, but not too bad.

This face cream has been a god send for me. I have been using it for 3 years. I have oily/sensitive skin and struggled for so long to find something that would not make my skin react or cause me to get spots. Step forward avene. This cream is light and does not feel heavy on the skin, best of all it doesn't cause me to get spots. I highly recommend this cream.

I bought this product to add extra hydration to my face as the Skin Recovery Cream was good but just not quite moisterising enough. However this really irritated my skin. I ended up with a couple of raised bumps, and a lot of redness and heat in my cheeks (that is my normal reaction to stuff that doesn't agree) and it took days to go away. I think it also broke me out. It felt quite greasy as well, and I didn't like the scent or the packaging (don't like the screw top, would prefer a pump bottle and hate the colours and design). I was very disappointed as I really like the Skin Recovery Cream and the Instant Soothing Mask. Meh. However, could be good for people with dryer, less sensitive skin so 2 stars.

really loving this moisturiser. For the price I haven't found anything better. It's soothing and good for combination skin. I can wear it under the Avene sunscreen and/or makeup and it's not too heavy and I don't get clogged pores or break out. I don't know why people are complaining about the fragrance, it smells fine to me!

Edit: I used this for a few months but it seemed to leave a buildup on my face after a while. I still use it sometimes for clearing up my skin as it's lightweight and non-irritating, but not my HG. I've adjusted the rating to reflect this, although I originally gave it 5 lippies.

I started trying Avene products about a year ago. I used to have very combo-oily skin that was proned to acne in my teen years but now I am 21 and my skin is changing. It no longer gets very oily but now is combo and on the drier side now.

My skin is very sensitive to a lot of products so a friend recommended Avene to me. The Avene soapless cleanser is amazing and I use it all the time with this moisturizer.

This moisturizer is exactly what I need. A light moisturizer to keep my skin normal and it makes my skin feel very soft. I don't know if it would be enough for people with extremely dry skin but for me it's perfect.

If you are looking for an anti-aging product though I don't think this would help. If you have very sensitive skin though I'd definitely give this a try.

I tried this after reading all the raves in my local beauty forum and sad to say, I didn't really like it. It's an "OK" product. Didn't cause any breakouts on my dry-combi skin and I had no problems whatsoever spreading it onto my skin because of its light creamy consistency but the fragrance sucked. YUCKS TO THE FRAGRANCE! I was so disappointed because I had no idea it was going to smell so overpoweringly yucky - like cheap fragrance. Also I suspect it gave me clogged pores.

this moisturizer has plenty of raves and i decided to try it.
what i like is its light texture.it feels like a gel and is non greasy.it also comes in spf and non spf version and a richer version.
the light one is good for normal, combi, dry skin.but if your skin flakes like mine,it will not help.
i mean it can stop them from flaking but not prevent.

This is my first Avene moisturizer and I am pleased so far. It absorbs quicky and I find that it is controlling oil moderately well through the day. The only thing I don't like is that it comes in a squeeze tube, and I would prefer a pump.

I used this before Christmas in conjunction with their cleansers and water spray.

Yes its very light and it didnt upset my fragile skin, BUT I need my moisturiser to do more than just moisturise I want results.

i would repurchase as it was a good light cream in a tube, but for now I am trying Cliniques anti redness range.

I really love this moisturizer. It is light, moisturizing, and it makes my skin ever so soft and supple! I really feel the difference with and without using this product. I use my sunscreen on top of this everyday and have had no problems. It soaks into my skin asap and leaves it feeling calm and smooth. I will definitely purchase this again for years to come! EDIT (Nov 2008): Now that winter has arrived, the harshness of it in addition to the harsh acne treatments I'm undergoing, really dried out my skin around my mouth to a point where it was bleeding, was sore, and I couldn't even open my mouth. It looked as if i had a disease due to the horrible cracked and peeling skin. I used my EA Perpetual 24 hr moisturizer and then the EL Oil Control Hydrator (btw this totally dried it out even more) which were both UTTERLY USELESS. Then I remember my beloved Avene Clean-AC (at night) and Avene Light Hydrating Cream (for day), and VOILA...upon using them, within A DAY the skin revived to it's normal state again! I can't thank these two Avene products enough. Never straying from them again even though they are pricey for a drugstore brand. I believe Clean-AC is about Cdn $34 and Light Hydrating Cream is around that range too. But for what it does for my skin, I will FOREVER BUY IT. Wish it was at least 50 ml though instead of a teeny-wheeny 40 ml for the pricetag.

It's a pity this is getting such terrible comments. I find it perfect for summer/when I get back to my hot home. It moisturizes so nicely and doesn't make me feel sticky because it absorbs so well. I can use my sunscreen immediately over it. However, in Winter, don't bother with this, it's much too light. For that I use physiogel, which isn't available in the US but seems to be sold pretty much everywhere else (I buy it elsewhere and then bring it in). I have really sensitive, acne prone skin that's been made worse by years of drying acne treatments, and this doesn't seem to break me out or anything, which I really appreciate a lot. It does, however, have fragrance, which most people here seem to detest, but as long as it does it's job, the smell isn't an issue with me. I'd buy this again and again, pity that it doesn't always come cheap for what seems to be a generic moisturizer without any special properties. Still, does what it says it does, doesn't break me out, and my makeup is fine going over it. A good package overall, I'd say.
