Great color. I was never one to wear colored liners and just started getting into fluidlines and I am so glad i snagged this. I have blue/green eyes and when outlined with this, they really stand out. Color isn't too vibrant but isn't too dark. Perfect for me!

I don't know why I didn't try MAC's fluidline years ago, it's fabulous!! I guess I thought it would be one of those eyeliners that slip off easily - not the case at all! I do apply primer before I put it on, then I apply it with an eyeliner brush. My eyes are hazel/green and this colour really makes my eyes pop. Absolutely love it, and would buy it again and again and again.

I love purples and when I saw "Iris Eyes" I really wanted to try it out. So, I got it in a swap here on MUA. When I swatched it on my fingertip I was a little unsure when I saw how light the shade is, but I liked the little bit of pearl shimmer I saw in it. Once I tried it on my eyelid, I was disappointed that it didn't stand out much on my fair skin and you really couldn't see the shimmer, it looked more satin or even matte than pearl. It went on smoothly and beautifully when I applied it with my bent e/l brush from Sonia Kashuk(Target). It's great quality and I like the little glass jar. Not sure what it goes for in the store, but I would buy this again in another color.
It didn't crack on me or flake off and was easy to remove with my Neutrogena Make-up Remover towellettes later. It also seemed to dry quickly, which I really appreciated.
-I also tried to use this as a base for my e/s. Can't say that I noticed a difference in the color vibrancy of my e/s's over this vs. over UDPP. But it did work, with little to no creasing.
*Overall, I like this item and am looking forward to trying out a darker color from this line.

I picked this up on a whim at a cosmetic outlet for 10 bucks. The color is super pretty and I thought it would look great with my hazel eyes. However I must say, when I went to apply it, I was disappointed with the texture and pigment. I have heard great things about fluidlines. I have also used smudge pots and the HIP cream liners from Loreal. This one though...I had to layer to get enough color and it did not apply as smoothly as the other gel/cream eyeliners I have used. I use the Stila smudge brush so I know it is the fluid line and not the brush. However reading the other reviews maybe I will mainly use this as an eyeshadow or to accent other eyeliners. It is a pretty color though!

I had to change it because it suddenly got better after I wrote this. I wanted to wear purple and then I just used it. Yes you have to swipe it twice to get a good color but right now I don't mind. I love purple too much. And the color is just beautiful. I love it now.

It's amazing how quickly you can change your mind about something.

I have mixed feelings about this one. PRO: Love the color (medium iris purple, the shimmer is barely visible)... Very pretty as liner or shadow. I own a couple of Fluidlines already, the quality and the color payoff are usually unbeatable. CON: It's so sheer I have to keep layering more than twice to get the same color in the pot. I don't know if the formula is supposed to be sheer or is it because it's a lighter color... Sometimes I layer it 5 times, risking the line to become gunk-y (happened sometimes). I found if I tap it on the lid first to deposit the color then smoothing the line, it turns out less gunky. Definitely try it out first before you get it, you might not want to get something that needs that much work.

Fluidlines are great products. Iris Eyes is a medium intensity violet so I find it almost too dark on its own as an eyeshadow so I usually add Frostlite Fluidline (white with golden tint) to the inner corner and centre of the eye to lighten it slightly. As an eyeliner I find it is almost too light so I tend to reach for Non Conformist Fluidline more than Iris Eyes.

The photo below shows all the colours slightly bluer and lighter than in real life. Also Macroviolet is more a plumish purple than the brownish colour shown below

basically i buy all fluidlines to be used as eyeliners but this one is quite light and you can't see if properly as an eyeilners so i'm using it as eyeshadow. and as eyeshadow it TOTALLY ROCKS.. so i'm giving it 5 lippies.

I returned this to MAC because it didn't show up on my olive MMM skin at all! My PPP friend got this and it looked really pretty on her - a perfect light violet purple color. On me, it looked sheer and dirty. Me no likey.

I wanted to rate this a 3.5 but I rounded it up to a 4 because I'm absolutely in love with the colour. It's a beautiful purple which complements my deep brown eyes. (Plus I'm on a purple phase right now.) Anyway, my biggest qualm about this fluidline is that it's not as smooth as my other fluidlines (Blitz and Glitz, Sweet Sage) and requires a bit of work to get the colour to show up. I usually have to go over the line twice at the very least each time. I don't mind that much though since MAC has really packed it with product. Thus, I doubt I'll run out of this before it goes bad. Like all other fluidlines, this is fairly smudgeproof and water resistant. It also is more forgiving of mistakes unlike liquidlasts.EDIT: Today I used this as a base for my pigments and it really helps it stay. And it brings out Violet pigment. Love love love it. Definitely a full fledged 4 lippies now.

I was looking for a bright purple eyeliner when I came across Iris Eyes. I was very impressed with the color and it looks stunning on but the texture is horrible! It's nothing like blacktrack, blitz & glitz, blue peep, and non-conformist (which I also own). It's very slick and hard to work with. I was hoping that maybe I got a defective one but I've heard that others had the same problem with it. I just find it very strange that this is the only one w/ this problem. I still wear it but I will never repurchase unless MAC changes the formula for this which is a shame bc again the color is perfect.

This is a beautiful colour! Wehn I first tried this on, I had trouble applying it because it became rough. Now, I've learned to apply in short strokes on my bottom lash line and simply glide my brush along my top lid.

Iris Eyes is a beautiful light purple with pink shimmer, I believe! The colour really makes my eyes 'pop'. Along with Blue Peep, this stood out the most. I have dark brown eyes (asian), for reference. I have rated this a 4 and not a 5 because of it's powdery finish, it irritates me if it's rubbed into my eye, but it has great staying power.

Price? Well, it's MAC. I wouldn't say this is too expensive... I think Bobbi Brown also makes a gel liner - but it is more expensive than this?

Definetely look up some pictures before buying (if online).
I think Iris Eyes is one of the must buys out of all of MAC's fluidlines. I'm sad MAC doesn't make any pinks, light greens for fluidlines. I would buy them in a heartbeat! The rest of the colours are a tad dark for my taste.

I would buy this product again when I am out!

This is a gorgeous lilac, and I love fluidlines, but I swapped this one away. It didn't go on as smoothly as my other fluidlines and I had difficulty getting a firm line (and I'm good at this stuff). My Delux pencil in Shay Violette is the exact same color, glides on with ease and is highly pigmented. It wins over the fluidline in my opinion.

This is my first Fluidline. In the pot, its a beautiful, rich vibrant purple with little apparent shimmer. On me, its a pale purple with a slight shimmer. I have Hazel (mostly green with some gold) eyes and purples are what I gravitate to. I took off a lippie because I have to layer this to get enough effect if I want it to really show up. For day, a single line of it is very subtle, but really contrasts with the colors in my eyes. I did an online chat with a MAC makeup artist and her recommendations were: Put it over a white or pale shadow. Put 2 coats on to get the color in the pot.I've tried both and so far, I still don't get the rich shade that's in the pot (par for the course with a lot of MAC products I think), but it does last for hours without moving an inch. I plan to try other Fluidlines, but probably won't repurchase Iris Eyes, I doubt I'll ever use it all up.

I saw this shade on a friend of mine and it looked amazing on her so I rushed to get myself one. When I first put it on in my room, it was quite disappointing because it turned out this dark, non-stand out purple. However, when I moved into the sunlight, it became a light, unusual lilac. Looks great when applied along the lower lid but takes more strokes than other fluidlines to get the desired colour. My only peeve with the product is how it changes colour indoors!

Although I love the bright lavendar color of Iris Eyes and Fluidliners in general, I find that this particular shade is very sheer and not really all that pigmented. I cannot get a good line with one coat-it's barely noticable on my NW20 skin. However, it is very buildable and it still goes on smoothly, but takes just a little more work for me to get the effect that I want. It is a gorgeous color and looks great with my blue-green eyes. I tend not to use it much, however, and that's why I doubt I'd buy this color again.

I'm generally a Fluidline fan, but this shade is not my favorite. It is a bright purple that needs two coats to go on enough to get a nice line of it. The color isn't a dark eggplant purple, but a bright, kind of funky purple shade. I'm not sure if it just clashes with my skintone or what, but this one is not for me at all.

I’d been lusting after a couple of the MAC Tinted Lip Conditioners when I discovered that there is a lone MAC counter at a department store in my town, so – not wanting to buy only lip balm – I checked the list of highest rated MAC products here on MUA and the Fluidline eyeliner caught my attention, specifically the shade called “Macroviolet.” But when I saw it at the store, I was disappointed – it was a dark a purple, very similar to my Smashbox cream liner in Smashing Purple. But because I have green eyes (actually, they’re smokey green with gold flecks), I like to wear purplish eyeliner because it really emphasizes my eyes. The only other MAC Fluidline I saw on display that was in the right color family was this Iris Eyes. I was skeptical that it was way too light/bright, but I bought it anyway (after verifying the store’s return policy, of course). I’m glad I did. The first time I wore it, I was completely astonished at how it made my eyes pop. People are always complimenting me on the unusual color of my eyes, but that day, they were saying “Wow -- I never realized that your eyes were *that* green!!” Another thing, I have really oily eyelids, so I have had problems in the past with eyeliners sliding right off (Urban Decay’s Primer Potion helps, but still...), but not with this stuff – it stayed where I put it until *I* decided it was time to come off! I’ve been using my Smashbox #9 eyeliner brush (which was great for their cream liner), but I think I’m going to get me a brush that is a bit stiffer as I can’t quite make the line as thin as I prefer with the Smashbox brush using the Fluidline...although I’ve found that if I tilted the brush at an angle as I draw on my line, it does help a bit. Anyway, this stuff is fantastic and I’ll definitely replace this color if I ever run out, and I might actually be brave enough to try some of the other shades – provided they’re suitable for my eyecolor, of course! ;)

Wow, I hate to ruin the ratings on this, but this is NOT meant for anyone with a darker skin tone: aka, South Asian women, African-American women, etc. I'm South Asian, and have a fairly golden skintone. This barely showed up at all! The quality is fine and standard of other fluidlines. I was really sad to not have this show up, since it's so expensive and I really love MAC's Blacktrack.

Iris eyes is a flat purple plum color. No redness here, not a burgundy or berry colored purple.
Its a great color to add to any collection because it can be paired with warm or cool colors.

Looks gorgeous with black/brown eyes. I am a chinese/asian with NC 30-35 skin, black eyes for your reference

The texture is creamy so it can be sheered out as eyeshadow or base. *Very* longlasting and stays put after it dries. I smudged a bit of it on the back of my hand and it seems waterproof and smudgeproof!

This is my first fluidline ever, thanks to a very nice swapper. And would not be the last! I will be purchasing waveline, dipdown, sweet sage and brassy next.

I highly reccomend this color for people with dark brown eyes.
