I love this color - I have had some nails break recently due to some immune system stresses, and I wanted, needed something super neutral, hoping to come close to my skintone since all my nails are practically nubs now.
I chose Let Them Eat solely on color - obviously I had forgotten how it applies. Because it is so chalky, it is difficult enough to apply (remember Color Club's Ppardon Mt Fench collex? Yeah.) Then add the streakiness that still shows random bald spots even at three full coats.
It only reached full opacity at four coats, but once it did, I do, as stated, love the color. *sigh*
If I found a dupe, it's a no-brainer to chose that over this particular OPI.

This is a gorgeous, gorgeous nail polish. Definitely conservative, which I like; it's a pale pink creme with slight lavender undertones. The color is perfect for my pale, cool skintone. The formula is perfection. Opaque in two coats, buttery smooth, very glossy. I use it with the SH insta dri top coat and it's dry in under five minutes. Wear is standard OPI - wears great, minor chipping after three days. This is my new, favorite, no-thought perfect for anywhere nail polish.

I love Let Them Eat Rice Cake. Among all the Japanese Collection, this is one of my favourites. The color is creme pink/lavender. The finish is quite chalky. After you put two coats, it actually looks more lavender than pink. I would say pale lavender. It's similar to Bare It In Trafalgar Square but a lot easier to apply. Need 3 coats to get a complete coverage. Overall, this color is pretty for olive skin and if you like chalky finish, this is a must to have.

Love this color. Milky pink/ lavender - great on my pale cool skin. COMPLETELY opaque after one coat, so one can change it up with something sheer on top and/ or sparkly on top (What's Dune is quite fun). I do that or I do 2 coats of this on it's own. Not quite HG as I would love to find this without the lavender. Had hoped Sweetheart would be it, but put 2 coats on today and nowhere near opaque..... the search continues. If anyone has any recs for a completely opaque light cool pink - I beg you, let me know.

Bought it yesterday and I've already regretted it. It's pinky/lavenderish on my nails and it doesn't look too bad on my fair skin. But it's too opaque and seems like I have wall paint -not polish- on my nails. If it was a tad less opaque, this could turn out great.

Wowee, Rice Cake isn't loved here :(

'Let Them Eat Rice' cake is one of my most favourite shades ever. It looks great with my olive skin and looks perfect at three coats.

I would've hated this if it were sheer, I love that it's opaque. It makes it different.

'Let Them Eat Rice Cake' is the blue toned one out of 'Have A Tempura Tan-trum' and 'Miso Happy With This Color'.

It hasn't chipped on me once.

I got this for my aunt because she wanted a good neutral. This was not it. I tried in on both her and me, and it just didn't work.

I found it to be streaky and runny. I'll try to make this work for me at some point, but at the moment the lid is stuck, and frankly I don't care too much.

I got this for 65% off because it is being discontinued...I am so surprised at all of the bad reviews because I actually love this color...in fact, i just painted my nails with it an hour ago!

The thing is, i need to put on at least 3 coats for it to look good. It is a tad bit streaky at first but after 3 coats i LOVE the color and have gotten compliments on it.

I guess this will be my last bottle of it because it will not be made anymore.

Oh no OPI, just no. This polish is henious. Its an ugly dead looking gray beige neutral hue of doom. I can't see how this would flatter anyone, even as a base shade. Sure, let them eat rice cake but also let them throw this polish in the garbage.

This color was awful on me! I went to the store to buy another bottle of "Sweetheart" polish but they were all out so I settled for "Let them eat rice cake". The color reminds me of when my new black sweater rubbed off on my freshly painted pale pink nails. The result was a pale pink/gray mess of a manicure. This bottle is going in the trash.

Ew! My mom has this polish so I thought I would give it a try. It is SO streaky! Like everybody else said, it is also very opaque, even after only one coat. Also, it looked sort of weird on my warm skin tone. EDIT: It has now started chipping...after only one day!

Although I am sure this polish could be pretty on some people, it just didn't work with my skin tone. I also thought it was streaky. I wanted to like this, but it didn't work for me. Wouldn't buy this again.

Opaque and streak-free with two coats - perfect formulation. Let Them Eat Rice Cake is a cool ivory with a tinge of lavender and not a wink of pink. Against my olive skin, the lavender has a tendency to grey and gives a sallow look. With the right skintone this polish has the potential to be beautiful! It's very delicate and put-together. Edited to add: Okay, I can see a bit more pink in this in natural light, and the pink makes this shade much more wearable for me - I am upping my rating from a 3 to a 5 and will purchase again in the future :)

This color is very pretty in the bottle and on paper, but did not look good against my cool, medium skin tone. It is a milky pink/lavendar color, not sheer at all, like I was hoping for. I had been a little bored with my nudes, pinks and whites and thought lavendar would be a perfect addition to pink to change up my nail rut a little. It ended up looking muddy against my skintone, sort of dull. I would just warn you to check out the color before buying. For some, it will be beautiful.

Beautiful color from the Japanese Collection. This is milky, creamy, pale pink/lavender color. Opaque. Looks fresh and soft. Doesn't streak. Really pretty. Love to use a bit of Maybelline Colorama top coat in Shimmer Girl over it for depth and just a hint of sparkles.

Hateful!
God, I wish I had read the reviews of this here before buying it...but what the heck, it's six bucks wasted. Everything bad that was said about this polish is TRUE. It has an unfortunate opaque consistency, which would have been fine except for the fact that it's streaky as all get-out. And the color-maybe there is someone in the world whose complexion this hideous color would work on, but I can't think of whom. It makes nails appear greyish-purple, like a once-livid bruise that is now drying out.
If you are looking for a HG nude or lighter shade for the summer, try Dulce de Leche instead. Skip this one, no matter what Allure has to say about it!

I'm surprised by the low score this shade received from MUA. I love this shade because it IS a little heavier then a sheer and shows up more intensely esp. on toes. I didn't give it a 5 because it could be a tad thinner in texture. Overall, I think it's a lovely lavender/pink shade for the summer.

LOVE this one! It's yet another great pinky-neutral OPI manicure shade. I've been mainly wearing "Sweetheart" on my fingernails for the last few years, but now I'll let "Rice Cake" take over the manicure reigns for awhile. It's an opaque light pink with a hint of lavender. And "Altar Ego" looks great worn over it when I want a little shimmer. As usual with OPI, there's no streaking and it's very fast drying.
