THE absolute worst acne spot treatment I have ever tried. I bought this product last year and have tried it 3 times. Each time was a bad experience but I would tell myself that maybe it'll work the next time because some products need to be used a lot to show its final results. EVERYTIME I've used it, it DOES indeed kill my spots but it leaves a dark patch of skin behind, it isn't a complete skin shade darker but it is noticeable enough that I have to put concealer on that area under my foundation for it to match the rest of my skin. For example, I had 5 zits on my cheek earlier this week in result of eating 3 bags of hot cheetos. Don't ask T.T but I used this spot treatment in hopes of ridding it before school, I used it for 2 days and applied a thin layer in a triangle shape ( because my zits were close enough and if you connected it, it'd be a triangle) but I noticed today that my skin where I had applied this treatment was totally darker than the rest. I"M EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED because I enjoy having light pale skin and now the rest of my face is a light shade and BAM a random dark triangle that looks like a giant sun damaged spot. It takes me months to get rid of dark spots.

Just to be clear, I have always had relatively good skin when it comes to zits, breakouts and acne-related stuff. Never had any real issues as a teen whatsoever. I attribute this to having very dry skin my whole life and tiny pores (thanks dad). HOWEVER, as I've grown older (31 as of today), my skin has become increasingly more sensitive to stuff and, like clockwork, I break out on my chin and near my left nostril once a month 2 days before my period. Very annoying, no matter what I cleanse with or use. Also, these couple of zits seem to be lasting longer every month and kinda hurt. I suppose it's "hormonal" breakouts.
So, I bought this stuff, and it worked well the first couple of times around. But lately, for some wack reason, this ointment stings a lot more than I remember it doing and doesn't clear the blemish(es) up nearly as well/fast as before. In fact, the last few times I've used this it actually does the REVERSE by inflaming the treated area and then leaving me with pinkish-red scarring in place of the zit. Not cool. At. All.
I DON'T think this is a BAD product, per se, since it really is so helpful for so many (on and off MUA), but it obviously is not for me.
So my negative lippy score for AcneFree 10% is solely based on what I've endured/experienced and I'm probably not one of the typical users who have used this. Therefore, I really hope I don't sway any readers away from using this because it may really help someones problematic skin. My suggestion (via my own logic - i'm not a skin specialist or anything) would be if you DO have sensitive, dry skin and you tend to scar pretty easily, to try a lower percentage than 10% or patch test it somewhere not so obvious in case scarring does occur. Other than that, I think this will be a good spot treatment for less-sensitive skin types. Also, avoid any sun if you do put this on your skin.
HTH someone!

This is my Holy-Grail acne treatment.
I ALWAYS have a tube on hand just in case.
I have had acne for 10+ years now, needless to say, I think I have tried every acne/spot treatment out there. (Even some from the dermatologist) I tried EpiDuo, which is a very wonderful product and the only other one that has ever worked for me, but it's $80.00 a tube! Seriously?
One day a few months ago, I went to my local Ulta and say this. I was using the Clearasil 10% BP treatment and it wasn't working. I picked this up because my skin only really responds to 10% BP. The rest is history. This stuff is so wonderful. It doesn't dry me out like the other 10% BP's do, it shortens the length of time the acne is there, I prevents new acne from forming (seriously, my skin has gotten so clear its astounding!), it's gentle enough to use everyday, it reduces redness in about an hour, it doesn't change the way my makeup applies and my acne marks after the spot is gone fade faster. I am sure I am forgetting something, but you get the general idea of how awesome this stuff is. I will never buy anything else for a spot treatment. This has definitely proven its worth.

I have the 5% gel that I found at walgreens. The quality of this is so much better than clearasil, zapzit, persagel. It is so finely micronized that it absorbes into my skin instead of sitting on top like a gritty pastey mess (hello target brand persagel). Great quality product for decent price! Also works very well without overdrying in the 5% form.

I'd return this if I could. It didn't do much for my acne unlike other Benzoyl Peroxide spot treatments I've used. To add insult to injury, it burnt my skin absolutely raw (even though it didn't control my oil!) & transferred during the night..........somehow into my undereye area where I had a night eye cream on! Ouch. :( This has never happened before with other products. Acne-free products seem to suck in my experience.

This may get graphic so bare with me...
This review is for the teminator original formula with 5% Benzoyl Peroxide.
I use this on my chin, where I get all my break outs every night after washing my face with neutrogena oil free acne wash. This routine keeps my chin clear I'd say about 95% of the time which I will take!! But here comes the graphic part...it is GREAT as a primer for "open" pimples. Okay I know I'm sorry, but when I've been bad and picked at a pimple, it can be super hard to conceal...because it just keeps oozing (I'm sorry!!). But when this happens, I put a small dot of this on my pimple, wait a few minutes and then conceal as usual. It provides a protective barrier that doesn't break down and keeps your yucky pimple under wraps. Also works great on scabs...smooths them over so makeup looks smoother.
I mean all the creams work to a certain extent, but this one works great with makeup too...which is why I love it!!
And fyi for those dealing with acne...a little known fact is that salicylic acid cleans deep into pores (which is why its always in face washes) and benzoyl peroxide kills the yucky stuff (which it is mostly in cream form). So for those people who think your face prefers one or the other, your face will LOVE both. Wash your face with a salicylic acid wash to deep clean out all the gunk and follow it with an benzoyl peroxide based cream to kill all the yuckies the salicylic acid cleaned out. TRUST ME!! And if you don't, look them up and see what they do...google will tell you I'm right. Hope this helps.

The best acne spot treatment I've ever tried! Cleared my acne so quickly and has kept it very clear! It even helps fade dark spots and leftover acne scars, but doesn't lighten them completely. I use this every night after washing my face, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Try it!

This IS one of the better spot treatments I've tried & works relatively quickly. However, it's incredibly drying (especially if applied more than twice daily) and will sometimes leave my skin flaky, rough, and/or dry for a couple of days after use.
I would recommend this, but definitely don't use it more than twice a day and don't use it to treat entire areas on your face. Also, a good moisturizer is probably needed while using this product.

I love this product so much! This works so quickly! For a lot of you who think you had an "allergic reaction" to this product, believe it or not you didn't! In fact you were experiencing a very normal side effect to benzoyl peroxide! You skin should get use to it after a few more uses! read my full review here! http://unmaskedcanvas.blogspot.ca/2012/08/acnefree-terminator-10-acne-spot.html

AWESOME! and really really fast. I have extremely dry, acne prone skin, and my pimples are larger, and concentrated almost exclusively on my forehead and chin. Having a lot of larger acne as opposed to small bumps is very noticeable, and I have been using proactive without much success. I purchased this product today, washed my face when I arrived home, and applied the cream to my blemishes ONLY (to avoid drying of the skin). I did not smear or rub in the cream, I just dabbed it onto my pimples and left it there for approximately 1 hour. I gently rinsed with water to see that my pimples had decreased over 50% in size and redness. I then applied it again in the same way, and when it was washed off the second time, even my most noticeable blemishes were almost completely gone. MIRACLE CREAM! thank you AcneFree!

Great product for active breakouts. Only downside is that it can dry out your skin, but then your skin will get use to it and be fine. It does not clear clogged pores unfortunately, but it prevents my skin from the cystic acne that I am prone to. I have repurchased this product many times and I suggest that everyone go out and try it. Warning: your skin might get worse before it gets better. But my dermatologist told me you have to try something for atleast a two months before you can tell if it works or not. Hope this helps.

I made an account on MakeupAlley specifically to warn other people about this product. Before I bought it, I looked up reviews online. They were all generally positive, so I bought it. I didn't have severe acne, only a few spots that I wanted to get rid of. Within ten minutes of applying it, every spot that had touched the product turned bright red. It was ten times worse than my initial acne problem. I would have been MUCH better off if I left it alone. My skin is now so red that I can't even convincingly cover it with makeup. I hope that the redness goes away on it's own, because everything I've tried to get rid of it has failed so far. Do NOT buy this product. I read that some people have gotten good results, but even if a reaction like mine is rare, the risk is greater than the reward. I've read some good things about Clean & Clear Persa Gel, so consider buying that instead. It gets rid of your acne without setting your face on fire.

This stuff is no joke! I had a huge zit on my forehead that was a sore raised bump for two days. I went to target to find a spot treatment. I picked this up. I covered the bump completely, and in a hour noticed the bump went down a good 60 percent. No joke. I was l like... Oh yay! This really works, and was only about 6 bucks with tax. I'm satisfied with this product completely. I would not put this allover my face daily because it is potent, and my sensitive skin may dry out. I will definitely use it as a spot treatment whenever needed.

oh my god :O best acne spot treatment EVVAARRR <33333
this stuff is freakin amazing. i never used to break out before so when zits started popping up all over the place i flipped out! I tried looking up natural remedies online for quick spot treatments but nothing helped (well not immediately but in the long term yes). i finally relented and went to my doctor (not dermatologists u guys, legit pediatricians. u dnt have to spend tons of money going to a separate doctor to get acne advice) and he reccomended this. i went out to CVS right after and bought it for only around $7. i wasn't doing anything that day so i put on some on my acne and waited for about an hour. every hour after that, i would wipe off the treatment and re apply it. By the next morning, my zits were still there but definately reduced.
I recommend this product to anyone with mild acne with the occasional monster zit XD for more sistic acne i would go with clean and clear's persa gel. I apply a generous amount on my zits everynight before i go to sleep. the only con with this product is that once it's dried on overnight, it can be difficult to remove. I reccomend using a warm, wet cotton ball. :D

I also have the 5% gel product, and so far it's the best and cheapest OTC BP product I've ever used. I have obnoxious dry/sensitive yet acne prone skin. It seems my skin does not "turn over" well, as my pores tend to become clogged easily but my skin also tends to be dry. Cons- some skin peeling for the first week, I have to use a lot of my moisturizer (MyChelle for dry/sensitive), and it does burn a little when I put it on. PROS- clear skin finally, I can find it anywhere, and it's really cheap. I've resisted using something so harsh but have had a lot of trouble. "Natural" scrubs, enzyme cleansers, masks really did nothing. This has cleared up my skin greatly and the dryness was not bad after ~ week of getting used to it. So I give this 5 lippies!

I bought this after I started seeing results from using a free sample of PC 5% BP product. I got a really crazy break out, concentrated on my chin, when I came home from vacation. My typical system wasn't working so I tried the PC 5%. When I started seeing results, I didn't want to wait to order it online, so I went to see what Walgreen's had to offer. This stuff is *so much* better than PC! It's an odd gel/cream consistency that is thick and absorbs very quickly. It was as effective as PC at getting rid of the breakout all over my face, and all I have left is one stubborn spot on one side of my chin. Best yet, it was about $5 on sale. The only ding on this is true of all BP products - it bleaches. I'm very careful with rinsing my hands after application and rubbing on an old towel that I don't care about, but I still somehow managed to bleach our brand new Elie Tahari hand towels in the guest bathroom. :(

I suffer from various types of acne-- clogged pores, blackheads, whiteheads, cystic, hormonal, you name it, I get it. Fortunately as I've gotten older the spates of really severe acne have become fewer and further between, but something is always there.
I bought the 5% benzoyl peroxide version of the Terminator product. It's a gel-like formula, which is interesting-- most BP products, in my experience, are creams.
My history with BP is long and dramatic. For years after I tried ProActiv I refused to use BP in any and all forms, because ProActiv was so useless, overpriced and bleached everything within site. I would not use it.
But the research says BP is what will deal with acne, and at some point one must relent to the science. Here's the thing about BP: it does not work as a spot treatment. Well, maybe it does, but not nearly as well as if you use it regularly. BP can straight up prevent acne, in addition to getting rid of it, so finding a BP you can use daily is pretty key. Problem is, BP is drying and can irritate sensitive skin, so it's a bitch to use every day.
ANYWAY, I used a cream based 10%BP product as a spot treatment for a while, and while it did help, my acne did not go away. Ever. It would make breakouts shorter, which is neat and all, but not the goal for the longterm.
So I was researching and for the umpteenth time in my life read about the Acne.org system. I've always avoided it because daily use of BP has always made me so sadface. But I read about it again anyhow, and something I hadn't noticed before hit me: gel forms! Lower concentrations! Brilliant!!
Off to the drugstore to poke around. Acne.org suggests 2.5% twice a day. One thing I know is that I'm unlikely to ever leave the house with BP on my face-- for me, acne treatments are strictly a before-bed endeavor.
I found the only BP treatment in RiteAid that was less than 10% concentration, and it was AcneFree 5% time release BP gel. It's a Terminator product, and intended as a spot treatment. Yeah, whatever. Like I said, BP is best as a daily jam.
So I've been using it every night after I wash my face, I put this stuff on my whole face. The gel is easy to spread. The end result is slightly tight skin that is not uncomfortable at all, nor do I end up with a white cast at all.
I rinse it off in the shower in the morning, and my incidence of acne have reduced dramatically since I began using it. True to form, if I skip it for a couple of days, something crops up.
My usually very oily skin has been less oily. Not totally oil-free, but less oily. As a result of my success with this product, I'll be trying other things from this brand-- the sulfur mask is intriguing.
Definitely recommended.

This product does nothing for my zits. I'm going back to Walmart's generic brand, Equate's acne gel, which I believe is a knock off of OXY 10, which is 10% benzoyl peroxide.

I have this in the 5% version and its one of the best acne products I have found from the drugstore. My acne is moderate and benzoyl peroxide works best for my acne. I mostly break out on my chin and my forehead. I also get those horrible under the surface bumps and have blackheads on my chin and nose. I have sensitive skin so I decided that the 5% would be better for me. This spot treatment works really well it is a bit drying but it will help get rid of any bumps. I was breaking out pretty badly from stress and in a few days I noticed a difference. This is also really good to use when a bump is forming. I mostly use this at night but it works just as well using it in the morning too since it continues to work throughout the day. It is pretty cheap and I will continue to purchase.

I have to say that I LOVE this stuff.. its really a life saver! I have the "severe acne" version even though mine is more moderate. It has 10% benzyl peroxide in it. About once or twice a month ill do my own little acne treatment where Ill layer this on my face (spread it on like a moisturizer but layer it twice) and leave it on over night and when I wake up all my acne that has/was coming in will be reduced or gone!
Its really handy to have. I have to get another tube of it soon! I definitely recommend for those acne sufferers!
