For others saying the reaction is to a lemon allergy, that is not the case. I can eat and use citrus on my skin with no problems. In fact, I use two or three other lemon or orange products on my skin a year. I was really excited to use this cream because I love the scent of lemon, but immediately after I used it on my stomach (within hours) I had a red, very itchy and bumpy rash. It eventually scabbed over and I had to treat it with poison ivy products. It ended up lasting 8 days with constant treatments and misery. I still have bumpy skin from it about a week after I "healed." It's pretty sad because I love the smell and the light texture. I will keep the jar since it was a gift, also so expensive, and use it on tougher areas like my hands and feet, which don't seem to have the same reaction.

Had gotten this as a sample from bath and body works so can't comment on the price. Loved the lemon scent at times and at other times it reminded me of some kind of cleaning chemical. Seemed like a pretty good lightweight cream and I actually considered purchasing it UNTIL a day or two later when I developed bumps everywhere that I used this lotion. I don't have sensitive skin and have never had a reaction to any product before (and I've tried tons!!!!). Do a spot test before applying everywhere!

Lots of negative reviews here, which is understandable if you have an allergy to lemon. If you do not or are unsure of you do, test it first in store and leave it on for a day. For me, I am not allergic. I love that this moisturizes but soaks up quickly. No greasy feeling afterward and the scent is very light and lemony. I tend to use this only in the summer because that is when my skin needs less moisture and for a body cream, this is very light. The first ingredient is water ,which explains why it is so light. I just love that it is not sticky or greasy, so I may try it in the winter too in place of my Body Shop Aloe Body Butter. It just leaves my skin soft with the slightest lemon scent.

If you value your skin and money, you would not buy this product. I tried this out due to the good advertising claims that they have indicated in their site. When I used this, I ended up with a lot of red , angry, very itchy rashes that led me to visit the doctor to get a jab. It was so bad that I don't want to imagine what's happening beneath my skin. My personal thought is that it might work for you initially but in the long run, think about the bad effects that it might do to your skin if it causes so much bad reactions to a number of people. Because of this, I ended up with a lot of scars after the rashes. This is what I call buyer's remorse.

This cream smells amazing -- in fact I finally splurged on it after having used the lemon body wash before. However, I had a terrible allergic reaction to the cream, which was completely unexpected, as I'm not allergic even to raw lemon on my skin. The rash lasted for a couple of weeks even I stopped using the cream. So sad! If you look at the C.O. Bigelow website, there are similar reports. The Bath & Body Works won't let people post reports of allergic reactions to the cream, since according to them, it's a "health condition." Get a sample and test for allergies before buying the entire jar.

I also got a terrible, itchy rash all over after using this product just once or twice. Tossed it out and haven't had a rash like that since.

i put this on my face, because i loved the way it felt.. after the first day my face felt so baby soft and i thought i found my miracle product. BOY WAS I WRONG. i woke up the second day of using it and my face broke out in a rash of little bumps, almost like every single pore on my face was clogged. DO NOT USE ON FACE.
other than that, i feel like its too thin to be a "cream." its really expensive but works decently i suppose..

I use this moisturizer exclusively in the summer. In the winter it just doesn't cut it for me in terms of moisturization. But in the summer it's okay. It soaks in quickly, leaving a nice sheen to the skin without being greasy. The scent is very nice, lemony but not tart. It's not a particularly strong scent. I'd love this product more, and buy it again, if it was more moisturizing. My skin is very dry so others may find this light moisturizer perfect, but I need more.

My mom and I bought this product and decided we would both use it because it was kind of expensive. After I had read a lot of people having success after using lemon and lemon based things to get rid of dark circles under my eyes, I decided to try this. I applied it under my eyes for 2 nights. By the third day I had little bumps all around both my eyes! Not zits or anything, just little bumps everywhere. I decided to stop using it and the bumps have started to go away. I'm sure that this is what caused it. I will never use this around my eyes again. Also, it isn't a very good moisturizer. All around so-so product. Won't buy again, too expensive not to be amazing.

This product is one of my favorite summer products because it it is light but moisturizes so well without leaving me greasy. I need a body butter in the winter, though. I only buy it on sale at Bath & Body because it is a bit pricey but the big jar lasts a long time. I wouldn't keep it for longer than a seaon because it smells a little funky if you do.

It's a good, basic lotion. I like that it has a very light smell and the smell fades after very little time. Some people may not like this. I don't know about all of you, but I like my body creams to be slightly thicker than this stuff was. It's a very buttery smooth cream and it feels really good going on, but the lightness of it makes me feel like it's not doing much. On that, a little goes A LONG WAY. just a finger-ful will cover my entire arm. Overall, the price can be justified because it is a great lotion and it's great at what it's supposed to do, though I am a bit worried everytime I apply it due to the reviews that report that they broke out. So far so good, though. The packaging, is basic. It's a jar and you have to dip your fingers into it and since it's not real thick, it's a bit greasy and liquid-y. Overall, I suppose I would buy this again, but I'm a pretty big lotion fanatic and I don't see myself doing so unless I get a great deal.

This is a pretty good product, but I just don't feel the need to ever buy it again. It is pretty expensive, it's a decent moisturizer but no wow factor for the price. The only thing I really really like about it is the smell. I love lemon and this stuff smells great.

This is a great moisturizer. BUT if you have even the slightest allergy to citrus, it WILL give you a reaction. I have seen it in two different people I have recommended this to. That being said, I recommended it to about 20 people, most of whom loved it. The lemon is all natural, so the scent fades very fast. The moisturizer is very light and airy, and yet it cleared up my super dry skin in less than a week. I buy loads of this every time it goes on sale at BBW, which is about twice a year. The Bigelow store in NY rarely has sales. I think I would cry if this was ever discontinued, but it has been around since the 1850's so I doubt that will happen any time soon.
Try it out, but heed my warning about citrus allergies.

Let me start by saying that I love many of the products C.O. Bigelow has came out with. I am an avid MUA reader so when I saw the reviews on this, I had to go to my nearest Bath and Body to purchase.

I have soft skin already but just wanted a cream to apply after showering. After a week of using this product, I got numerous gigantic zits on my body. I have never in my life got pimples on my body... EVER. I have not changed anything in my regime and this was the only thing that was different. Even my diet was the same, so this has to be the culprit! I still have scars from the cystic acne I received from this product! I am definitely bummed and still trying to find something to get rid of the scarring. I hope bath and body takes this product back. Ugh.

This is a great moisturizer! It just creamy enough to slip on without having to really work it into the skin and it has an light, inoffensive lemon scent. I put on before bed and wake up with really soft skin. The tub lasts forever too!

Hey this product is an essential for me!!!

its super moisterizing and personally i like the smell. As for the lightening effect, you see it after continous use. Apparently, it makes you "glow" as others noticed but this was after a couple weeks. Some claim that it stops acne but it doesnt really for me; i suppose it has cleared it up a bit. I really love it though and it has worked for me. Not side effects :)

<3 TIA

I love the texture and the fragrance of this product! The cream moisturizes well without being too heavy or greasy. I have very sensitive skin, but the lemon oil doesn't seem to irritate it. This cream is one of my all-time favorites!

I bought the 8 oz. jar for $19.50, which is the current retail price, and I am on my second jar now. I bought this because it was fragrance free and I was intrigued by the lemon oil. I have eczema, meaning absurdly dry and sensitive skin, and on top of that, it's winter here in New York with the harsh winds and constant drying heat circulating inside the house, my skin gets to be a mess in the winter time. I brought this home, hopped in the shower that night for 20 minutes, and then slathered this stuff on immediately after toweling off ... and lo and behold, the next morning I was still comfortably moisturized without having to reapply that morning.
SO here's what I adore about this cream:

1) it keeps me MOISTURIZED through the extremely drying winter for at least 16 hours at a time
2) the lemon oil and extracts help clear up my BREAK OUTS! i don't have to use spot treatment, which is a little bit of a miracle because the spot treatments I've used tend to be drying and cause light scarring. i can actually use this cream to moisturize the breakout away! it's a weird concept, but it works. i apply it religiously and rub it in well where ever i'm breaking out and a few days later, i'm bump free.
3) as for the BRIGHTENING effects that it claims to have... lemon has always been thought to have skin lightening effects because the acid is supposed to inhibit melanin production ... has this worked for me? ehh I definitely think my skin is more even toned ... but it's hard not to attribute that to the fact that it's more moisturized ... oh yea, this stuff has replaced my FACIAL MOISTURIZER because I find that my skin is more even and more moisturized... brighter? i don't know.
---------also, WARNING: the lemon extract and oil in it makes your skin sensitive which I've read about in a majority of the less than positive reviews here. stay OUT of the direct SUN while using this product because you will burn or get irritated skin ... i haven't had any problems with this in the last two months, but it's also winter and i don't sit out in the sun now ..

CONCLUSION:
i adore this cream because it has helped keep my eczema at bay, replaced my $20 face cream, helped treat my break outs while preventing scarring, and has kept me moisturized throughout the day (irritation free). but i will likely be switching creams in the summer when i'll be exposed to a lot more sun. hope that helps...

I use this mostly as a hand cream or on my elbows, and I got it as a free gift for a charity road race. It smells wonderful and feels lovely and non-greasy. It makes my hands soft and pretty smelling like a lemon cookie. It's nice and all, but the price is a bit much for what it is (a good basic moisturizer). I like that it comes in a jar though, so I can fish out however much I want and there won't be like 1/5th of the tube left stuck in a tube.
