Absolute best polish for French tips. Does not look like white out like others. Goes on smoothly and last very well. I've used it on its own on my toes too. Doesn't streak. Hg all the way!

This is my go-to shade when I do a French. I think it's the perfect tip colour: not to bright and not too sheer. It makes your tips stand out, but not in a-too-obvious way; they look clean and neat. I've never tried Desire as an all-over colour so I can't speak to any streakiness as other reviewers have mentioned. I use it strictly for French manicures and it applies easily and evenly every time.

This is my go to sheer white shade. Two coats is perfection! Makes my nails look very clean .. very crisp and very elegant! It never turns yellow on me, doesn't streak and applies very smoothly. This is a no frills polish .. no shimmer, no frost, just pure soft white perfection and looks incredibly during the summer with tanned skin! HUGE rave!

I've been on the hunt for the perfect "your nails but better" polish. I had one by Stila that is no longer being made. Made my nails look so perfect, like I had a french manicure. Anyway, the nice ladies on the nail board suggested this one. It is just ok. My skin has yellow undertones and maybe this isn't pink enough for me.

This is the perfect white tip color for a french mani, if you find that the stark whites are just too "White Out" -ish, and the "soft whites" are too yellow/cream -ish. Desire is a semi sheer white; a "muted white", if there can be such a shade. It's perfect for my MMM cool-neutral olive skintone. Yet it's equally as pretty on me when I'm faux tanned (very warm). This is one of the few tip shades I like paired with clear polish. My favorite pairing for a french mani with Desire is to use Essie Mantaulk The End for the base nail color (a sheer soft white, that leaves a barely there "gauze-y haze" to your nail bed, with 1 coat. It gives more of the pornstar/stripper look to my nails if I use 2 coats -- a look which some may not want to sport, lol. But I actually like that look in the summer, when I have a good faux tan, ha). I also like Desire used alone; it gives a glossy, semi sheer white glaze to my nails. Desire goes on very easily, w/o any streaking.

I adore this nailpolish! i got it per M_Grace's reccomendation, i wanted a white tip color that would not be as harsh as white corrector pen and i got Opi desire. it is gorgeous! as other reviewers have stated, one coat goes sheer but clean and polished, 2 is more noticeable, and 2 thick-ish coats gove me a gorgeous natural-looking white tip that's beautiful, clean and polished. definite HG for french mani for me.

Finally, a pure, sheer white, that does not come out clear. One coat is a very clean, polished, barely visible color. 2 coats is noticeable, but still a sheer white, that looks clean, polished and makes a beautiful pedicure with tan feet. The formula is streak-free and glides on beautifully. This is definitely a new "must have" neutral for summer.

Pretty color for a French tip but a bit too sheer for me. Hy HG used to be Essie Marshmallow, but lately it's been getting v. thick and gooey on me so I decided to dry Desire. It's essentially the same color as Marshmallow, a muted soft white but it's formulation is a lot thinner. As a result, it's goes on v. sheer. I have to apply about 3 coats to get the desired opacity. Way too much effort to spend just on the French tip of a manicure. I wouldn't buy this again. *Sigh* Guess I'll have to keep looking for my ideal French tip white. The wear on this one is only mediocre. It lasts about 3 days w/ minimal chipping. I could see this working as a shade to use all over the nail but I prefer OPI Sensuous for that, which is a bit more ivory.

Did I finally find my HG white n/p? Desire is sheer white. More sheer than Essie Marshmallow and a little bit more opaque than Essie Waltz. It gives me this perfect milky white, clean, elegant look. I like it over Alpine Snow (opaque pure white) as white on white effect. Marshmallow is similar but more opaque and has some ivorish/yellowish tint, which I hate. Waltz is nice but a little too sheer and a little bit streaky. My second HG for a French mani is OPI Sweetheart and Alpine Snow combo.Edited: STREAKS!!

Definitely a HG nail color! I always used to search for the perfect My-Nails-But-Better shade, and always looked at nude and pale pinks. None of those gave me quite what I was looking for: a natural way to lighten the dark pink color of my nails. So on a whim, I ordered this online.

One coat of OPI Desire lightens my nails a tad and looks gorgeous and clean. As others have said below, it is a sheer white. Not quite clear, and not opaque. Just perfect! I wish Essie would come out with a shade like this though, I typically prefer Essie to OPI.

Desire is a pure semi-sheer white. I tried it on my tips for a subtle french manicure, and it worked so-so. Depending on how thick you apply it, you will get different shades of white, so it looked quite uneven on me. I liked the coverage of a thick coat, but then when I applied the top coat there would be a visible "edge" from the tip polish bulging. Then I tried it alone all over the nail for that nice sheer white look. It streaked like crazy, even after shaking and rolling the bottle carefully. And since I hate streaks, I had to take it off immediately. :-( UPDATE: Streaky or not in all-over use, this is my go-to sheer white for french manicures. I have finally managed to get an even white line.

I'm a cool-toned PPP with short, natural nails. Desire is a great shade for me. It's a sheer white polish with just the barest hint of pink to it, probaby due to my pink nailbeds showing through. That hint of pink is important imo because it keeps my nails from looking too stark or my hands looking ghostly. With 2 coats, I can still see the whites of my nails, but there's not a lot of contrast between the white and the pink of my nail. In terms of sheerness, it is between Essie Marshmallow & Waltz, but leans more toward Marshmallow. It is less white than Marshmallow. It gives me a gorgeous shiny, healthy nail look. It also works well on tips for an American mani. I use it with Revlon Colorstay Always On Absolute Bliss Ultrasheer (very similar to Essie Mlle) for a pink-toned American mani. This color is d/c, but you can still find it (often at a great clearance price). I definitely recommend grabbing one. I prefer Desire to OPI Bubble Bath for a clean look.

I was looking for a white polish that I could layer to get that opaque white look you see in magazines. Well.. This polish will do that! One or two coats is c-thru & would look nice over a French but, 3 good coats will give you that opaque white look. Sometimes I get bored of having a French manicure done & prefer the look of an all white opaque nail.. Its such a clean & fresh look. Desire will give you that opaque white look with enough coats. It reminds me a lot of Milk Punch by Delux Beauty, which I adore. Definitely a staple for me now. UPDATE: Use Desire often. 2 coats over OPI Alpine Snow tips is one of my HG French manciures. GORGEOUS semi sheer white polish!

If you're like me, you don't like the opaque, "white out" look for your French manicure.

This color is great because you can layer it to achieve the whiteness you want. In fact, I did my nails the other day with this and they look AWESOME right now AND I was able to do the French manicure without using those annoying stickers!

OPI r my fav nailpolishes!!! it dries fast, lasts long and doesnt create those bubble things on my nails like cheap nail polishes....i got this one at ULTA clearances for $3.75...out of all the ones i have, this is my favorite..a very natural looking SHEER white...i have fairly long nails and soooo many people thought my nails were fake and asked me where i got it done...i guess this nail polish made it look somewhat of a french manicure!!! i sweep this through my whole nail (not only at the tips coz if i only want that,i use 'alpine snow')...but anyways....it gives an illusion of a manicure bcoz it contrasts with the pink part of ur nail bed and the white part of ur nail tip...i use about 3 coats to achieve the look that i want

A perfect pure white sheer that is just right right to do your tips for an American Manicure - when an opaque white just won't do! Another winning sheer from OPI!

Finally--a sheer white n/p form OPI--no pink or beige--just right. this is a great basic shade to add to your nailpolish collection. I highly recommend it.
