Hate the smell. This first time I smelt it I physically vomited. I got it offline so I did not know how it smelt. Then again, I HATE cinnamon.
Tried better pre-shampoo hair masks so was quite disappointing as it wasn't very moisturizing.

I've started using this product recently..
Really enjoying it. Although it doesn't smell that appealing, the product definetly works!
The ends of my hair are very dry, this product has helped a lot.
I see the differeance when i straighten my hair or curel it, as the stays in place, and doesn't dry out.
Downside- expensive, however i only use it 1-2 a fortnight, so worth it i guess.
Will re-purchase this product!!!! :)

First off, yes, this smells pretty vile. However if you can stand the smell for a while, it will leave your hair silky soft. I applied it in the morning when I got up, put my hair up with a large hair clamp and had breakfast. As long as I didn't move around too much, the smell would be hardly noticeable. Then after about an hour or so I would get in the shower and rinse it out. Followed by shampooing my hair twice and using conditioner. The scent disappeared completely and after my hair was dry, it felt AH-MA-ZING. It's true that you need quite an amount (I have pretty thick, over the shoulder hair) for one use and that's what makes this product quite expensive. Splurging on it once in a while is totally justifiable though in my book ;D

HG alert!
I have fairly straight, thick, coarse Asian hair. I also have massive tangles in my hair beneath the top layer that is seemingly straight and problem-free. Sometimes I'm too scared of brushing it out so I just let the tangles grow because hey nobody can see it anyway! But this mask makes it all better. It smells really spicy, I mean REALLY SPICY! I'm sure it won't linger as much if you wash it after 20 mins but I leave it in overnight and my hair reeks of the spices for a week at least, but I can deal with the smell since it leaves my hair sooooooo soft and tangle free. The price is on the expensive side because I only get 2 uses out of the tub and that's 10 dollars per mask. And I'd like to add that as it approaches the expiration date it won't work as well so use it up well before!

H'Suan Wen Hua Hair Treatment was one of the first products i bought from Lush.
One word: AMAZING.
It may not look very good, but i really like the smell (smells like cinnamon/candies) and the effect it has on my hair is awesome.
I have very fine hair which is very hard to volumize - H'Suan Wen Hua makes my hair so manageable that after i blowdry them i look like a lion.
They are also very nourished and shiny, but they don't turn dirty the next day as many products do.

- I find this product really expensive. If you use it like it should (on dry hair / good coverage) you can only get 4 uses out of it (I have shoulder length hair - but quite thirsty)
- Packaging is OK; typical Lush black tub
- I wasn't a fan of the smell at all. Cross between rotten eggs and god knows what.
- My hair felt like it contained more moisture, but for that price and that smell it wasn't good enough. Will not repurchase.

OHMYGOD AVOID!!!

I got a big pot of this as a sample (thank god otherwise I would be taking it back ASAP) from Lush after being given a hard sell by one of their staff in store.

They told me that it was basically a miracle product to replenish damaged hair and spent 30 minutes banging on about how great it was.

I HATED the smell of it in the shop but thought I would give it a try in the shower to at least see if it was a good product for my hair.

How wrong was I!!!

I opened it in the shower and no joke, I almost vomited! The smell of this stuff is so disgusting that even if it was a good product (which it's not, it's runny and doesn't even coat your hair properly) I wouldn't use it. It smells like a cross between bad eggs and cinnamon. It is the most vile thing I have ever smelt in my life!

AVOID!!!

I was so excited to try this product but I was really disappointed. I have bra-strap length thick and wavy hair. I used 1/4th of the pot and it made my hair shiny, but actually more dry and frizzy than without. I had to use R&B to smooth it down. It felt healthier but looked like crap. I don't know if I would buy this again...

I wasn't expecting much, but to be honest, this was amazing! It made my course, extremely thick and uncontrollable hair not only behave but gave it lovely shine and satin softness. Definitely would buy this again! And unlike other Lush hair masks, you don't have to use the whole tub in one go!!

I bought this product while I was staying in England, so the price wasn't so bad, being around £8 for 225g of product. However, I would never think to buy from America, with the price being around $20! With that said, this is a great mask. It strengths and conditions hair, focusing on making it healthier with its natural ingredients rather than masking it with silicone or other nasty, artificial stuff. The smell is a very acquired taste, though; It smells strongly of cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon, and it's a love it or hate it type of thing. It's great for finer and normal hair types and it's very light for a mask. Personally, I'd prefer more heavier, nourishing masks for my dry hair, but this is still a nice treat once and a while.

My hair felt pretty nice after using this mask (I used it over night).. but the smell.. I can not really stand it, it smells horrible. Was really difficult to sleep in it (so I would suggest using this during day, on a day off). Also, after washing my hair with shampoo and conditioner, the ugly smell was still there. This product is really expensive (22 USD) so I wont buy this mask.

I was excited about the reviews that touted silky hair from using h'suan wen hua. I left it in all night, wrapped in saran wrap, and when I washed it out....hair felt exactly the same. Damaged dry hair still felt dry and damaged with a coating over it.

I liked the chai smell, but once I rinsed it out and found it hadn't done anything special, the smell annoyed me because it reminded me I'd been had. :(

A lippy has been knocked off because of the smell - it makes me retch. I hate cinnamon! If you love cinnamon, you'll be in heaven as the smell lingers long after you've washed it off. But it's strong. Be warned!
As for the product itself, it's a lovely product and worth using even if the smell is strong. I don't use loads and loads, just a generous amount for my fine blonde hair, and leave it on for a couple of hours. I love the fact you apply it to dry hair and then shampoo and condition as normal. It means you don't have to wash your hair first. It's never gonna replace my Fekkai protein mask, but this is 1/3 of the price so it's definately going to be something I buy over and over again. It makes my hair soooo shiny!! Seriously, I have highlighted shoulder length blonde hair (I'm a natural ginge in disguise) and it's marvellous for putting a shine back in the hair. I keep mine in the fridge as it contains egg. The packaging doesn't bother me, it's typical Lush packaging and I sort of like the fact it's really basic!
EDIT: After a few goes, I really can't bear the smell. It's too strong. I've had to change it to I wouldn't buy it again because of this. I'll stick to my Fekkai Protein Mask from now on.

I love this stuff. It seriously smells just like a chai latte... which I love. This left my hair feeling so incredibly clean and soft without feeling like it left product in my hair so it felt silky (if you know what I mean). I have really long hair and I reckon I could get at least 5 uses of this which is pretty good value for a hair mask. I just put it in the ends and work it up to the roots... obviously using less in the roots. Will definitely be repurchasing this.

i am onto my second tub of this. and i love it so very much.
so i'll start with the price. it's around $18 in australia for a generous tub. i know they say that you should use pretty much half the tub on long hair, but i find i don't need that much at all (and i have a lot of hair). my last tub lasted me ages. i think i got a good 7 or something uses out of it? i shall count this time.
onto the packaging (even though i don't really feel that it's awfully relevant, but i need to have a bit of a rant). i am so sick of people whinging about lush packaging. it is meant to be as basic as possible so that it is a bit greener to manufacture and so that it can easily be recycled. we don't really need all those pumps and random bits of plastic on our cosmetics! we can't do anything with them afterwards and they just end up going into landfill. think about the environment people.
sorry about the rant. anyway, onto the good stuff. i have quite long hair and it's pretty hard to manage. it is also wavy/curly and although it is fine, i have a lot of it and so it is also thick (if that makes sense). all of the household shampoo brands have their "hair repair" treatments and shampoos and conditioners and whatnot, and none of them are any good. they are all just packed with silicone and who knows what else. the majority of them just leave my hair with a build up that makes my hair look greasy and feel crunchy and sticky. not nice at all. as a bit of a lush addict, i went into the shop with a few ideas and the girl recommended this combined with trichomania (which is now discontinued in australia, sadly) to help make my hair a bit more manageable, moisturise it, strengthen it and help with the split ends.
after brushing my hair, i apply the product to it (starting at the ends and working my way up) a small amount at a time. i think this is the key to having success with this product. i mostly avoid the roots except at the back of my head. then i pin it up and pop a hotel shower cap on. you could use glad wrap or just leave your hair down. i prefer to put it up so i can wander about the house, have a bath, etc for half an hour to an hour. then i rinse it and wash with trichomania.
for around a week after doing this my hair appears to have more life, is softer, easier to manage, my curls are more defined and shiny and bouncy. the wonderful smell of chai latte lingers on my hair for 3 days. and i can actually brush it. usually i have to brush it before bed, plait it, and brush it again before i have a shower in the morning. if i go out it's even knottier and if i wear a scarf i end up with a huge nest at the back of my head that takes hours to brush out. not when i use h'suan wen hua. my hair is easy to brush and i can even go to bed without brushing it after a long day and it won't take hours to brush out in the morning. wow.
it really is amazing. i love the smell, i love the price, i love the way my hair looks and feels, i love the way it makes having long hair less of a chore. i'm going to be buying this for as long as they continue to make it.

My hair is VERY dry with a ridiculous amount of split ends. I have been growing it out for 5 years and just got my first trim in 2 years the other week. I bought this after the sales assistant suggested it to me and I am very pleased! I don't understand how there can be so many negative reviews about it.
Like the tub says I apply it to dry hair, leave it for 20-30 minutes and then wash out and shampoo and afterwards my hair looks like something off a Garnier ad and feels so soft and silky. So far I've used it around 3-4 times and I could easily get another 2-3 uses out of the tub. I will definitely repurchase!!!
