I have fairly pale lips (& pale skin). When I apply this over lip balm, it does give me a nice MLBB color. On its own, its a bit too red but I blame my natural lipcolor for that. lol. I also feel like its slightly drying on its own. I like it enough to keep but not enough to repurchase

$20 is more than I'd usually pay for a lipstick, but I've tried and failed to find a perfect MLBB lipstick at the drugstore. Bare Lips happens to be the exact color of my lips, and it's sheer enough to look totally natural. No, the lasting power isn't great, and you do have to reapply after eating or drinking. But come on: it's a sheer lipstick. The one obvious drawback is the strong cotton-candy smell, but I got used to it pretty quickly, and now I barely notice it. Otherwise, I adore this lipstick. And I use it almost every day, which to my mind justifies the price.

It's a sheer pinky-beige MLBB shade (I'm NC20, pale lips). The finish is similar to MAC lustre lipsticks - sheer and slightly glossy, very natural. A close dupe would be MAC Hug Me. It's moisturizing and has a yummy vanilla scent. Perfect!

This is a lovely natural looking pinky beige - the colour of healthy flushed lips, It's sheer but pigmented. If you've ever tried Chanel glossimer in Praline this is like the lipstick version, though less glossy, less sticky and longer lasting. I wasn't sure about the almond smell at first but it disappears quickly. If you want an easy natural but polished look this product is idiot proof grooming at it's best.

On my unpigmented lips, this is MLBB. It's a beautiful neutral rose shade, which, when applied, makes me look younger, fresher, more well-rested - better! I'm quite pale generally (NW 10-15) and cool-ish. Judging from reviews below (which I've looked over quite carefully - I'm always looking for recs for more mlbb shades!), this shade suits a variety of skin tones. It's not exciting or revolutionary, but it is extremely flattering! I'll be re-buying this one as long as it's made.

I have very fair skin and think this color is very flattering, a true my lips but better shade. Very sheer, so look elsewhere if you want full coverage.

I knocked off two lippies because it is so expensive for about 2/3 of the product most other lipsticks have, plus the quality isn't too different from my favorite Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks! Sure, it's pretty, but I feel like the only reason for the high price is the name on the tube, and that doesn't sit well with me.

I'm on the fence about this. The color is fine but I still like LM Tea Rose more. It's a bit more opaque than a stick gloss should be IMO. The color is a lovely beigey-rose that looks good on me, just a bit more intense compared with Tea Rose. I am not a fan of the vanilla LM scents this with, but I can live with it. Think it's expensive and the packaging nothing special. I guess I'll rebuy if I need to replace LM Tea Rose with something that isn't Tea Rose.

I am a bit medium tan and I love this color! It is so natural with a hint of beige/pink and gives me an Angelina Jolie look. I wear this with either smoky eyes or simple eyes...I can use this everyday for a natural look...(I am a NW 35/40/ Chanel 4.5/Cover FX E80 for reference) I would definitely repurchase, along with the other colors in this line...It is fairly better than my Clinique Buttershine in moisture and longevity.

I'm a fair to medium complexioned brunette with hazel eyes.

UPDATE 4/29/09: Originally I wrote a review saying this lipstick just misses out on being really pretty on me. I got it wrong. I've been trying to use it up and falling seriously in love in the process. So I've now given it 4 lipsticks (previously 2) and a resounding YES I will buy again. What happened? Well, it dawned on me that whenever I needed something to make me look well/healthy/fresh/pretty this was the lipstick I reached for, even on the days I wasn't making a concerted effort to use it. What I wrote before was a load of phooey. This is a very flattering shade on me. I am in at an age where I appreciate looking gently, not strikingly, made up. I like the texture and finish, which is not so creamy that it slides off, but not too dry either. It has an attractive soft sheen. Pretty city.

LOVE this lipstick. It is my HG lipstick. I love everything by LM and do not mind the taste or smell that everyone here is complaining about. It is so mild.

a perfect YLBB! i saw this from LM's SA and asked what she was wearing coz its really nice. she said its bare lips! she put it on to my lips and purchased it instantly. i just read from the reviews here that it smelled bad. well, actually, i did not notice that. im starting to switch from Nars l/s to LM l/s since LM makes my lips very soft and mositurized. some nars l/s really makes my lips so dry. i just noticed that the shade is similar to nars dolce vita but this one is more on pink shade. i love laura mercier!

I bought this because the color was so great. I wore it for one day and was so turned off by the awful smell and truly disgusting taste on my lips that I had to return it. I don't have that problem with any lipsticks anymore, so I don't understand why they are having this problem with their lip color! It is a shame with such nice colors.

Lovely, muted pinky/nudey shade. It is almost-but-not-quite-too-cool: I can still pull it off. This is a great lipstick for when you just want to throw something on to rush out the door without looking like you just threw something on and rushed out the door. The smell is unpleasant, yes. Don't know what's up with that these days, but can be overlooked for the color.
Fair/medium w/green undertones. Dark brown hair, very dark brown eyes.

This a lovely little lipstick. Indeed a 'bare lips' look, but a YLBB 'bare'. The colour is gorgeous and extremely wearable - a deep, creamy pink beige which applies semi-sheerly.

It wears well - no icky 'lip dandruff' left once it wears off and has decent lasting power. Doesn't feel drying on your lips or too slippery either.

My only real issues with it are the scent and the packaging. You'd think that most, if not all, high end brands had finally killed off that chemically, lipsticky smell. In fact, most of them are either fragrance-free or more pleasantly scented. Not Laura Mercier, it would seem. And the packaging is just so...boring. Boring, slightly shimmery brown cylindrical tube. Hardly going to inspire gasps of admiration or enquiries as to which lipstick you're applying.

Those are but petty issues and I like the lipstick itself so much that I don't mind having to hold my nose and sneak off somewhere private to reapply my lippie. :-P

Bare Lips is the exact same colour as my lips. Its a rose shade and I really like the smell of LM lipsticks although a lot of people say they don't. It smells like clean flowery soap or something.

Bit worried about the texture of this due to previous reviews of this line of lipsticks but as I always use lipbalm before lipstick that wasn't too much of a problem. The colour is great. YLBB definitely (for me anyway!) I'm pretty pale and my lips don't have too much natural colour. If I don't over apply this it gives a polished look. Very nice. Doesn't last particularly long, unfortunately. I don't mind the smell. It reminds me of my mum's lipsticks when I was a child. Pretty expensive though but it was a birthday treat for myself!

I was looking for a lipstick that would enhance my natural lip color, but not be too obvious. The smell is a little yucky, as other reviewers mentioned, and the texture isn't quite as great as other lipsticks I've found. The color is wonderful, though, and stays on for a long time. The only reason I won't buy again is that it's similar to NARS Dolce Vita and I prefer the NARS lipstick smell and texture.

Got this as a freebie in my recent LM haul. I've been using it a lot.. Smells bad, true. But the color compensates for it. I don't like very pigmented lipsticks, the sheer ones do it for me. I love the way it flatters my NC20-25 skintone. Gives a very natural, non-teenybopper tint on my lips. pinky brown. :)

Retails for $26 CDN.

I have a lot of ylbb shades, but this one is not ylbb on me. Instead it is a semi-opaque pink shade. The smell is HORRIBLE, it has the traditional plastic chemical lipstick smell. I wonder why LM hasn't updated her lipstick formula to a more elegant scent like other high end brands.

The packaging is ugly IMO. It comes in a bulky dark grandma-brown tube that takes up a lot of room. I also found this a bit drying.
