I adore this scent! This is the only version of #5 I can wear. I currently wear Coco and Chance but this oil/gel is heaven. This is something I wear just for me and makes me feel cozy!

Like many other reviewers, I wish this came in other incarnations, because it smells so amazing I want to take it with me wherever I go. Texturally speaking ... I'm not always in the mood to smear cold wet gel on myself but that's not necessarily a complaint, just a personal preference. Unfortunately the packaging makes it precarious to handle ... the bottle is VERY fragile. (I ordered a bottle online once and it came in pieces ... just a darn shame.) I'm not a perfumista but I would describe the scent as a kinder, gentler version of No. 5 that would work for everyday. It's definitely a touch sweeter and not as spicy. If you're working your way toward being an OG No. 5 kind of gal, this is a lovely stepping stone.

soft, powdery, sexy bedroom fragrance... this scent is to die for... everything i love about Chanel no 5 (without the sharpness)- starts out soapy then dissolves into a nice "milky chai tea "scent... lovely
*** you only need a small dab

OMG I love this scent so much, it's a softer, greener version of no. 5, which I also adore. I also love that it's more affordable than most of the other chanel scents, and it comes in a gel so it uses a stopper like a real parfum does, this makes it feel very elegant. It has decent staying power, wish it stayed longer, like all day, but most perfumes don't on me, my skin eats the scent quickly. I also wish they would come up with a couple more forms of this scent, like a spray edp or edt so I could use it as an all over scent and spray it on my clothes, etc.

Gorgeous - gorgeous - gorgeous. Every fragrance diva should have this in her collection. The Chanel rep at Macy's didn't know anything about this when I asked about it. She looked at me like I was a lunatic. I forgot it was called Sensual Elixir and referred to it as the fragrance gel. She was surprised to find it hiding in the cabinet.
Elegant, feminine, unusual, luxurious, golden, warm, sparkling and did I say GORGEOUS? I layer it with No 5 Premier for added staying power.
Unlike anything else. Nothing compares. So unique.

I am inlove!! I love this product. I'm a fan of the iconic classic fragrance that is chanel no5, so i just had to have them all (no5 edp, premiere & sensual elixir). I love love this fluid body gel - its a much softer version of the no5 without the lemony fragrance that eau premiere has. its a beautiful smell - its soft, comforting and creamy flowery, I would recommend this to anyone who loves chanel no5. If possible, i might just adore this more than the perfume. I sometimes dab this onto my neck and wrists before I go to bed, just so i can smell it while drifting into sleep - its so comforting and cosy.
The bottle is so classic too, with the dabber you use to apply the gel to your skin. The gel feels great too - its not sticky, but not watery either. It just melts into your skin and wraps you into its flowery softness. I will repurchase this again and again. But this is hard to find tho - I ended up picking up the last bottle at the chanel counter. The sales lady told me they ordered five bottles the 2 days ago and the day before I bought mine they only had 1 left... (i guess i was lucky!) and i cant understand why

Shame on the sales associate who almost cost me the pleasure of acquiring this beauty! I've been a fan of the original No. 5 since I was in middle school. Growing up, everyone I met who smelled it on me instantly reminisced about this aunt or that mother or some ex girlfriend.who used to wear it . That was fine by me, it just meant I was part of a large group of ladies with good taste! ;)
Enter, Sensual Elixir: It's everything I love about No. 5 and more! It's all there, sans the prickly aldehydes: the softness, the creamy florals, and the smooth powdery warmth. It's the olfactory equivalent to rolling naked down a hill of cashmere.
Since I don't like to announce myself with perfume, I enjoy that this is more of a skin fragrance. I wear it on the back of my neck after I don my retail-sanctioned polo shirt and pants. If a perfume can make you feel sexy and elegant in polyester, go for it!

Elixir Sensuel is a fluid perfume, midway between a perfume and a skin cream to dab onto wrists or the nape of neck to intensify the fragrance's charm. Warm, soft, subtle and extremely sexy.
top notes : Aldehydes, Neroli
heart notes : Ylang-Ylang, Jasmine, May Rose, Iris
base notes : Woodsy Notes, Amber

I absolutely love Sensual Elixir. I have never worn a perfume that made me feel more sophisticated and feminine. It is very much like Eau Premiere, but more complex. On me, EP dries down to an uncomplicated powdery vanilla within an hour, but SE is much more complex. The floral notes stick around longer and the base is more woody and less vanillic. It also has a slightly fruity quality at first, which I love. This product is a must-try for both fans of No. 5 (in any form) and for those who never really "got" it. Plus, the price is fairly reasonable at $65 for a 1.7 oz bottle.

This is a fabulous way to wear No5 and the dropper bottle is so retro. Using the dapper on the bottle top, you can wear the elixir on the wrists and behind the ears. The fluid gel texture is non-oily and soft and smooth. The scent is very soft and powdery thus if you do not fancy No5 due to the aldehyde opening, this smells very much like the heart and base notes sans the heady aldehydic opening. I love the soft floral notes like rose, jasmin and the seual woodiness of sandalwood. This cost SGD$130 for a 50ml gorgeous dropper bottle. It is said to be the concentration of an EDP. When i apply this, it last longer compared to No5 Eau Premiere which i am using also. Lasting notes to be about 5-6 hours with jst the teenist bit on my pulse points. I look forward to enjoy this beauty for quite a long while.

This is wonderful. A great version of the original but so much more decadent and sensual because it's an oil. I decant this into one of those travel size roll-on applicators that people use for essential oils. This makes it very easy and fast for application in the morning. However, for a special night applying it from the gorgeous bottle with the pretty stopper is a nice ritual that makes me feel fancy. HG status.

Adore this....I also find it surprisingly tenacious for a lighter version of No 5. This is perfect anywhere, especially for those occasions where you want to wear fragrance that lasts for your own pleasure but don't want it loudly announcing itself to all and sundry. Its bright, citrusy, powdery fresh and cuddly.... I will buy this again and again and again....

If I had to pick just one fragrance out of my collection as HG..I'd take this one. I don't wear it that often..'cause I'm always trying something new. I have the EDP..but it's just too strong for me to wear in public, but this is just right. Just a soft, feminine floral with no sharp edges...so similar to the original, but toned down. Appropriate anytime of year.

This and the body lotion are the only concentrations of no.5 that I really love. I get a nicely blended soapy-floral-sandalwood scent from this. It lasts all day on me. Has sillage at the beginning, but by the time I leave work it's more of a skin scent. The first fragrance I ever received a compliment on.
Caution: it's easy to over-apply, which turns it over-bright and into a sillage monster.
The price is very reasonable, and I anticipate not only using the entire bottle, but also buying it again.

I like this elixir a lot. It smells a little bit powdery but very subtle. I can tolerate this but not the original No 5 which gives me headache and nausea. I just need a little bit of this and I could smell fabulous and sexy for a long time. I have gotten compliments while wearing this. The more I wear this, the more I don't want to try any other fragrances.

Yes it smells heavenly and I'm very addicted to it, but it lasts no more than 1 hour on me!!! If anyone can tell me how to make it last longer than 4 or 5 hours, like my Guerlain, Lancome, or even DKNY fragrances, I'll definitely give it a 5, or even a 10, if I can, and repurchase again!!

I was going to write that this was my "gateway" fragrance to the original No. 5, but luvbug beat me to it. I lusted after Elixir for a while, finally bought it, and very soon started craving the original. I am now absolutely in love with the EDP, can't get enough of it.
Elixir is soft and beautiful, but for me, doesn't have much impact or last very long. I love the bottle and its elegant stopper, and the consistency is lovely. It makes a good "personal" scent to appreciate by yourself -- you may find yourself frequently sniffing your wrist or the crook of your elbow -- but none of the wonderful sillage of original No. 5.
A wonderful complement, and a lovely, light, comforting fragrance to apply after a shower or even before bed.

This is the best fragrance for me. Smells soft and sweet, like a little bunny. I love wearing this with a soft pink angora sweater and camel colored slacks. I ALWAYS receive compliments where I wear this but that is not the most important thing,,,it smells divine and makes me feel sexy and beautiful. I can't help but smile all way when I know that I smell so scrumptious! I would give this 10 lippies if I could....

I had to have the bottle, with its darling little stopper. And I don't mind that this stuff has the texture of hair gel (not my idea of sensuality). But what I really like about this scent is the way that it develops this heartbreaking thread of bitterness right in the middle that you can only smell if you're not sniffing for it. It's the perfect counterpoint to the way the aldehydes smooth this composition out into this sort of rolling, seamless, modern thing that you get the strange feeling is supposed to be functional, like an overly designed modern chair. I live for the transient bitter note when I wear this.
