Le Crayon Khol is a semi-soft powdery pencil suitable for the waterline. Comes as a pencil with a Chanel pencil sharpener in the retail box. Texture wise it is soft, easy to glide onto both upper and lower eye lids. Staying power is good for the upper lids but if you tend to have watery eyes, it may not be as long lasting on the lower waterline. Intense as the name depicts, the colour can be varied from lighter smudge of colour to full on intensity by layering drawing over the line several times.
Amber is an intense, deep espresso brown. I love this on days i want to have a softer looking eye makeup. Easy to glide on even ontop of eyeshadows, and also use as a base for smoky eyes to create the contouring first then layer eyeshadows ontop for a cleaner, higher definition. Also does not stick to contact lenses when applied to the waterline. I have watery eyes so this did smudge a little but it does not bother me too much.

This is a good eyeliner and you can tell it is high end and not d/s from the quality (I find the quality of most d/s eyeliners to be crap). However, I was still a little bit disappointed because I expected more from something with this name (Chanel) and this price. It wasn't nearly as good as my trusty and faithful MAC pencils, highly pigmented and intense just the way I like it, but it just kept smudging and disappearing all day long! MAC eye kohls have much better staying power, not to mention all their other even more durable eyeliners! This Chanel liner is easy to apply, no tugging (which is very important to me). I would still recommend this eyeliner because of the colour, I don't have any brown eyeliners with exactly this same shade. It's a dark (but not darkest) brown with copper shimmer, the only brown eyeliner I've ever seen with copper shimmer! Very beautiful, and unique enough to warrant getting just for the colour. I would probably still repurchase when I run out, but I got it cheaper online and I would probably only repurchase it if I could get it cheap online, I don't believe I would pay the full price for it.

Beautiful color. Not amber (yellow/brown) at all. More on the red/purple end of the spectrum. Unfortunately, it won't stay where I put it. It clumps and smudges and ends up as eye boogers, especially when applied to the lower lid. Like others have said, don't count on this Chanel eye kohl for a defined line. It's decent as a smoky eyeliner (i.e. deliberate smudging) and gives a mysterious deepness to my eyes without being in-your-face. I've worn it for as long as 18 hours and It doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes. I give it 4 lippies for the color and non-stinging, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!! This is my HG eyeliner! It's a gorgeous brown-bronze-burgundy shade with a slight metallic sheen; it goes on smoothly and looks best when smudged slightly. I wear it almost every day and it lasts all day! This shade works with every color eyeshadow but looks especially nice with beige, pink or gold tones. I have blue-gray eyes and have light/medium skin.

Changing my stance after using Bobbi Brown Gel Liner. The Chanel liner is crap. I returned all 3 that I had purchased. Yeah, the color is very pretty, however it smeared, and clumped in the corner of my eyes. Nevermind the fact that it burned my contact lenses. SO not worth the money and I will not be buying again.

This is the very worst eyeliner I've ever used. $26 and I'm allergic to it. I usually use MAC Powerpoint Stubborn Brown and never had a problem with it or any other liner. But this Chanel one made my eyes red, irritated and runny. Plus the line is no thinner than my less expensive products.
I'm not usually sensitive so my recommendation is to apply it in the store and wear it all day and see if your eyes are ok before going back another day to purchase.

This is an excellent eyeliner. It's a very deep brown that looks good with almost all of my eye shadows (although not as good with warmer tones). It glides on smoothly and lasts well. While this is expensive at 27.00, it will last forever and is extremely easy to use.

This eye-pencil's color is actually dark-brown-bronze, and quite metalic. This product is very versatile, and will produce anything from a dramatic, graphic line, to a soft, shimmery eyeshadow (when smudged with fingertip) Doesn't have a good staying-power though... Update (11/11/04): It's better smudged than left alone. Texture's very creamy and semi-sheer. My Tips for EveningWear (29, medium tone, brown eyes&hair): excellent for producing the smokey eye effect. smudge "roughly" pencil into top and bottom lash-roots, and blend with a sponge-applicator outwards (this is after powder eyeshadow application). Line you bottom eye-rims with Guerlain's Eye Pencil #8 in Givre Nacre* (pinkish-white). Finish with Lancome's Definicils* mascara in black, followed by a lash-comb. Not good for small eyes! *=See my other reviews.
