Top notes are petit grain, lavender and mandarin orange; middle notes are nutmeg and cardamom; base notes are opoponax, vanilla, oakmoss and vetiver. It is stronger than the original Pour Monsieur, but very similar.

A beautiful and perfectly balanced blend of bergamot, lavender, oakmoss, and a few other goodies my nose isn't educated enough to name. In effect, similar to, but less sweet than, Le Troisieme Homme. I see there is controversy about the alleged reformulation. Never smelled the original. Whatever is in that bottle as of 25 May 2009 is a perfect masculine fragrance that's also affordable.

This updated version of Pour Monsieur has absolutely NOTHING to do with the 1955 Eau de Cologne Pour Monsieur that Mlle Chanel herself was involved in creating. When sampled side by side there is no comparison. Concentree is brash, unsubtle and no where near as elegant and refined as the original composition. There has been much blogging done as to why the Wertheimer's refuse to retail the original version in the US and only at duty free shops. Be that as it may, the original is by far one of the all time best men's fragrances ever created, and anyone who wears Concentree has surely not sampled the original!

my nose picks up vetiver bergamot oakmoss pettigrain. a super classic controversially updated in the 80s/90s like guerlains vetiver. some people prefer the old, i prefer the new as it lasts MUCH better and seems less sweet and powdery and somehow even more quintessentially french. the only mens chanel scent that Madam Chanel herself would recognize as it is the only one extant while she was alive, created in 1956 i believe. a pefect mens chypre

Lemon and Mysore sandalwood notes were most prominent to me when I first applied Pour Monsieur, however, perhaps I am off the mark? Per osmoz.com, notes include mandarin, petit grain, lavender, cardamom, nutmeg, oakmoss, vetiver, vanilla. The arrangement is pleasant enough and well-blended, however, it is far too subdued for my taste and everything except the oakmoss has zero lasting power at the moment. Perhaps it is best suited for warmer days.
