Maybe it's just me, but this shampoo bar has no scent! I don't mind though. It lathers up very easily and cleanses thouroughly. You have to use a pretty thick conditioner, since it makes hair feel really coarse, even while you're still washing it. It dehydrated my hair, but made it really shiny. I don't even know how that's possible - maybe it's the glitter that does that, I don't know. But it does give great shine, so I guess I'll use it up, with extra moisturizing conditioner and serums, but I probably won't repurchase

LUSH DESCRIPTION:
"Shine on: Ultimate Shine makes your hair super glossy without the need for a conditioner.
Beautiful and effective: Our violet-infused bar cares for your scalp, keeping it clean and oil-free.
Double duty: Aromatherapists use uplifting ylang ylang to treat stress and depression but it is also effective for balancing the scalp and hair."

Ylang ylang is used to stimulate hair growth/stop hair fall out. Can't find any information about violet leaf oil for hair.
~

SMELL:
The scent reminds me of a little of root beer and a classic chewing gum in my country called Jenka, which tasted like very mild and sweet mint. Also I think about the smell of pine trees. This might sound weird but it is a very subtle and pleasant scent.
~

HOW TO USE:
I wet my hair and rub this on top of my head. It lathers alot (after all the first two ingredients are Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate). Hair feels really clean and soft afterwards but there is no way I would use this without a conditioner.
~
EFFECT:
Clean hair, nothing more, nothing less. Except this drinks up my bright red hair colour as if it's a vampire. I have now switched to LUSH Blousey which works much, much better for my hair colour.

CONCLUSION:
This is a pleasant smelling shampoo, animal and environment friendly, and cleanses thoroughly. That's where it ends. Oh and the stripping of hair colour. I now use this as a body soap because I like the scent, and have switched to LUSH Blousey shampoo instead, which works much better for my hair colour.

Cleans my hair well, but leaves no shine and I need a really good conditioner afterwards because I swear it sucks all the moisture out.
The bar bubbles up well, but I have to put it on a piece of baking paper so that it doesn't stick to the shelf in my shower.
I will use this until the bar runs out as it wasn't that cheap, but I will not repurchase.

My hair has not been chemically processed for 1-2 years. They are dry but not extremely damaged. This shampoo bar made my hair very dry and when i switch back to using New shampoo bar, my hair went back to normal. I have oily scalp and this seems to make my scalp feel less clean...

Will not re-purchase this

Hint: use a plastic retainer case---the kind you need to wear after bracing teeth for storage. They even have a drain hole... Perfect.

I tried a few of the Lush solid shampoos because I thought they would be good for air travel, & I liked them so much I gave some as stocking stuffers this year. I washed my hair a couple of days ago with this one, and conditioned with the Jungle (solid). It works better to use a nice creamy conditioner though as I found my slightly wavy hair rather fly-away on day two. Also liked the Karma Komba, Godiva, and the Reincarnate which makes my hair seem thicker -- it feels drier but I know its just the coating of henna it leaves.

I find this too harsh to use regularly, but it's great in occasional rotation to strip away buildup and residue. It's easy to use and lasts for ages.

I love Lush products. But this one didn't really deliver any shine. Stick to Godiva its way better!

I think that Lush's shampoo bars are amazing. I love them because they are easy to apply and smell really good. The only problem I have with these is the mess they leave in your shower. Even if you keep these in the shampoo tins they come with, there is still some way they leave a mess. However, I would still repurchase this because it is so fun to work with and is healthy for the environment.

STORAGE of Lush bars...
My dad suggested cutting a kitchen sponge in half and storing it on the outside edge of my shower/tub (someplace where it won't get soaked with water and can dry out if it gets damp), and I rest my bar on top. It keeps them clean and neat and comes of the sponge with no mess.

This has been great for my hair. I live in a dry climate and it doesn't give me flyaways. AND I used it in humid Houston f or a week, where my hair normally puffs up, and my hair looked fine. I also didn't have to apply any product in either climate. That is what I love about it so much.

10.95+ shipping is kind of steep, but I will buy more when I run out. I have had mine since Christmas and it is about 1/4" thick (a fresh bar is about 1/2" thick), a little thinner in the middle. It should last me another month, but since this is my first bar, I will see how it is once it becomes a sliver.

I received this and the Hard shampoo for my apt's hard water, but I find Shine works as well or better than the Shine one.

This is a white bar with no little flowers or pieces of anything in it (unlike many other Lush bars including Hard) so there is no weird mess in your shower.

Try the sponge trick! It makes using these much more enjoyable.

I was really surprised how long the solid bars last for considering their size. They are great for camping/traveling because there is no bottles of liquid to explode! I had to buy the tin (hence the bad packaging review- why don't they just include these?) just because I was sad some of it was caking on my shower and I didn't want any of it to go to waste. I have blonde hair and this made my hair sparkle. I got it originally in the volume and shine gift box which is a great kit! I pretty much use all of the products in it regularly now. I like to use some other shampoos still, because my hair gets limp and dead after too much of the same. Waiting for that magic perfect product (though maybe I'm delusional), otherwise I would give it a 5 :)

I wash my hair everyday (to combat oiliness) and after good results the first two weeks this eventually dried out my hair like there's no tomorrow. This goes for all the LUSH shampoos I have tried: the BIG hair one, the Cynthia Stout and the sea-themed shampoo bar.

It also made my scalp flaky and paradoxically made my hair oilier by drying in out too much. Threw it away.

No more LUSH hair care for me! (though I quite like the Henna)

This is my favourite of the LUSH solid shampoo bars. My problem is a scaley scalp and frankly any of the LUSH solids are great for this (I find that kind of ordinary shampoo has a bad effect). Though I have been using the pink one and also the 'soak n float' which claim to be good for the scalp, this one which I tried again recently is even better! Just looked it up on the LUSH website actually and it says there that it contains violet leaf to decongest the scalp and it really seems to work! No flakeyness whatsoever! If you've not tried one of these before, make sure you buy a cheap (flat) piece of pumice to store your bar on, otherwise you will find it melts away and won't last very long. Treat it right though and actually they last quite a while, so quite good value too.

I really liked this. I thought it made my hair really shiney and it smells really good. It lasted really long. The only bad thing is you have to buy a little tin to store it in because without it the soap dosnt last as long.

My first shampoo bar from Lush. I've decided to go all naturals or organic on my fine, sometimes limp, hair. I noticed that too much chemicals just damage my hair. So I switched products. I've only tried this shampoo bar for a week, and I must say, that I'm writing this review right now mostly because of my love for it. I think it's highly economical that it's a shampoo bar, as it would really last a long time. I just have a hard time storing it on our soap dish. The metal case would be great for travel though. anyways, even if I haven't noticed any significant amount of shine on my hair, it has become more soft, clean and not greasy at all. The scent doesn't stay that long, but it's ok for me. This is where the use of a good smelling conditioner comes in. At first, hair becomes dry upon washing, but I think you just need to follow it up with conditioner, then you're good to go. I'd buy this again, and would sure try other Lush shampoo bars.

My favourite out of all the shampoo bars. I have normal/greasy hair, which it works great on. I wash my hair everyday and this doesn't even dry it out. I found that it does add a little bit more shine, but not a major amount or anything. I also found that it adds a little volume to my hair too - always a good thing!

I wanted to love this, because I love the idea of package-free shampoo and the ingredients and ethos are fantastic. But after finally finishing a full shampoo bar, I've admitted defeat and gone to Aveda and Avalon Organics lemon shampoo and conditioner (I alternate because Aveda is so expensive). My problem with this? It just did not make my hair look nice. After I stopped using it, friends told me, "Your hair looks so much better, not dry and stringy anymore!" While using this bar, my hair did not style well, it felt lank and lifeless ... after I used the Avalon Organics for the first time, after using this bar, I realized that I had been settling for average, lackluster hair. That being said, I will never go back to chemical-laden shampoos like Pantene or other grocery store brands, but unfortunately the Lush ultimate shine bar did not work for me.

This stuff dried my hair out and made my head super itchy. I really wanted to like this because its made with good products and I love that its a solid but that's all its got going for it. I seriously think this is the worse shampoo I've ever tried and the most irritating of all. That being said, I really liked the veganese conditioner I bought to go with it.

I never paid much attention to Lush despite there being a branch in my local town. It struck me as a bit hippy dippy and rather expensive. Now that I'm a serial lurker on MUA I noticed good reviews for the shampoo bars so decided to give them a go. So glad I did. Ultimate shine is probably my favourite but I also love Karma and Seanik (adored the smell of Godiva but it fell to bits.) They smell divine and leave hair squeaky clean and full of body. And they last for ages so they work out to be good value.

I am a big fan of LUSH hair products; I have now tried several and the only one that didn't work for me was American Cream conditioner. My go to shampoos have been BIG and Seanik, but Ultimate Shine looked so unassuming, so pure sitting there next to the stacks of more brightly colored shampoo bars, that I wanted to give it a try. I fell in love the first time I used it, because ladies and gentlemen, I don't know what gives this shampoo bar the loveliest smell on earth, but I wish I could bathe in it. I wish I could douse myself in a perfume this scent. The LUSH website says it has ylang ylang oil in it, maybe that's what it is. I can't quite explain the scent except to say that it reminds me of CLEAN perfume with a touch more floral to it. Sadly, the scent does not linger in my hair, but good lord, have I convinced you of my love for it yet? To make it even better, Ultimate Shine does not weigh down my hair, and makes it so vibrant and glossy that I feel like I could film a hair commercial. Also, it pairs beautifully with LUSH Veganese Conditioner, which is also one of my favorite hair products of theirs. In short, I want LUSH to make a soap, a shower gel, a lotion, a face cream, everything, EVERYTHING, with this scent. Absolute love.
