I received this as a free gift. I think I received a different duo as mine has the gold shade but also a pink with gold undertones. I really love the gold. I find it difficult to find a gold to suit my complexion but this is perfect. It's gold but bordering on champagne with a peach tone to it. It's so versatile and the texture is great. I love it.

I received this in Beach Plum as part of a gift-with-purchase offer from Clinique/Macys and it instantly became my favorite eyeshadow at the time that I was using it, because it was great quality and I didn't have to buy it!
The texture of the eyeshadows is soft and silky, that I prefer to apply with my fingers than to use the applicators just because it feels so nice. Both shadows are shimmery, but the pigmentation is so good the shimmer isn't overwhelming! You don't need much to complete the look, and it's best kept that way because the fallout can be a little messy.
Though the colors are limited to two, I personally love gold and violet looks for their versatility on any skin tone and for the ability of gold colors to warm up the eyes and make them pop with color and radiance. The violet color is a great color on the outer corners to create depth to the eyes. This is an easy to use, beautifully-coordinated, great everyday eyeshadow duo for both day and night time looks.
As much as I loved this palette to death when I was in high school, I would rather receive it as a GWP because it's priced at $20 for the duo—although the quality is amazing, the price is very steep. The quads from Clinique offer two more colors for $5 more and are a better value. And there are other shadows on the market other than Clinique, with competitive quality for an even more competitive price.

HG status e/s duo! These two colours work in harmony together, you can create smokey or daytime looks with this because the colours are soo versatile and easy to use. The first colour, is a beautiful shimmery, beige champagne colour, which is great as a highlight or to blend against the plum. The plum shade is a really beautiful, not too bold, perfect shimmery purple colour. I love the staying power of these, they last all day until I take them off at night. As a base, I thoroughly recommend a MAC paint pot, I use MAC's Rubenesque underneath, which is a shimmery gold/pink base, and it just looks stunning underneath this duo. I recieved this duo as part as 'bonus time' at Clinique however I would be willing to buy this over and over again because it is just so perfect for me. For reference, I am NC15, fair, pale skin with blue eyes and blonde hair, and this duo works perfectly with my complexion and colouring.

this is such a gorgeous duo!!! the gold is absolutley dreamy, the perfect shade, not too overpowering, but has a rich enough pigmentation to create the perfect golden glow on my lids. The amethyst color is an absolute gem, one of the prettiest purples I have ever seen, with little flecks of gold in it, its the perfect color to bring out brown eyes. The purple adds a much needed POP of color which blends in so well witht the gold. These two colors were meant to be paired together. The purple adds this depth and dimension to the otherwise simple all beachy-gold look, it makes it more mature. This is such a versatile combo, it can be worn day or night and both casually and for formal events, and its great for summer and winter, the gold makes it fresh and fun and the purple ties the whole look togther and makes it look like you put in alot more effort than you had to. Simply elegant, and simply perfect!!!!!

I love the purple and gold colors, but just not together. I've never used the blush included in it though. The purple adds a nice touch of shine, and the gold is also beautiful when I wear them with other colors. I wouldn't buy this again since I received this as a gift initially.

mmm...I love the shades, they are beautiful colours. But they feel and apply like chalk, and the effect "live" in your eyes it's not so good...they are very cheap, but you can get really flattering, beautiful L'Oreal eye shadows for the same price that glide like cream and are more pigmented than this...I am disappointed.

The gold is my HG gold shadow! I sweep it across my lids for my simple, no time looks. Smooth and pigmented, with the right amount of shimmer. I don't use the plum color a lot, but it works as a crease, outer corner, liner etc. I think they blend nicely together when I do use the plum. I also love the packaging, the inside mirror is HUGE and the outside cover mirror comes in handy just to check up my makeup when it's in my makeup bag.

I loved the colours but my biggest problem with this is, the colours don't blend well. Eventually you obtain a good result but it takes a lot of blending and reapplying untill it is good. This is something that I hate, I don't have a lot of time in the mornings untill I go to work so I really don't want to spend 5 min on my eyeshadow. Luckly this is not the case with all the colours in this range but for this particular combination that is my opinion.
I also find them quite expensive (in Belgium in each case), it is as expensive as Chanel so when i compare it to other countries I find it too expensive for what it is.

I've been wearing this basically everyday for about a month (since I bought it). It is a beautiful combination. A champagne color and a lilac purple. I have found that it is super easy to blend the darker color into the crease of my eye- and doesn't require much effort to create a beautiful look! I have noticed that if I don't wear eye primer with it, though, it won't last all day. No biggie- though- I usually wear primer anyway!

I have a ton of eyeshadows, but this duo is probably going to be my wedding day eyeshadow. A super soft vanilla color with gold undertones and a violet purple....soft and not overpowering. Just beautiful...Nice packaging....NOTE to self:: Buy more Clinique.

I have been using this product for probably two years now. I am fair skinned, with dark eyes, and I am all about simplicity. I don't have an arsenal of 100 different eyeshadows with 50 different application brushes, I simply use the sponge applicator that comes with the shadow. Having said that, I love how easy this is to apply, I put the dark plum shade around the outer edges of my eyes (and outer brow bone), and the lighter color on my lids and upper portion of my brow bone. I love the sparkle, it's perfectly fine for day wear and it adds beautiful luminoscity to your eyes. It's somewhat of a sheer color set, which is great because mistakes won't be as obvious if you're in a hurry. Also, my eyes are deep-set, and I don't feel like this makes them too "dark". When I find a product I like, I hold onto it and use it all the time, and this is that product.

I think I have an HG! I love this duo -- These colors compliment each other so well. I just got it today and I am over the moon! I have auburn hair & brown eyes and wanted a new shadow w/ a little more color than I usually do. This fits the bill perfectly! I'm using the gold shadow over my entire eye, using the purple as an eyeliner most of the way around my eye, then with a fairly light touch in the crease, then putting the gold in the inner corners of my eye as a highlighter. Holy cow I love this stuff! It's great for daytime and I think I'll just intensify with more of the purple for the evening. thanks Clinique, this will be my go-to eye product for the summer :)

This is my favorite eyeshadow duo! I bought this product back in December and have been using it almost everyday. I really love the gold and plum eyeshadow paired together. The gold gives me the natural look and the plum really brings out my eyes. The quality of this eyeshadow is amazing! I usually apply my makeup around 7:30 in the morning and take it off around 8:00 at night and when I go to take my makeup off, the eyeshadow is still on, has not creased, rubbed off, etc. It's almost like I just applied it. Both eyeshadows are really pigmented and are very vibrant!
The applicator that comes in the compact is actually pretty good. Even though I prefer to use my brushes, it works well when I am on vacation or at somewhere else and don't feel like taking my makeup brushes with me.
I paid around $15.00 for this eyeshadow and it is well worth it. It has lasted me awhile. As for the gold eyeshadow, I have made a dent in it because I have used it so much! Haha, I really recommend this product to anyone!

THis eye shadow is gorgeous! I love the gold color, and it is highly pigmented. The purple is super pretty, one of my best purples. This is my favorite clinique duo!
Age: 18 & Under Skin: Normal, Medium, Warm Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown
The brown/tan color is very neutral, perfect for those days when you want a more natural makeup look. The purple shows up pretty sheer, but it makes me look a bit tired
Age: 30-35 Skin: Combination, Fair, Neutral Hair: Red Eyes: Green
I too received this e/s as a promo and instantly fell in love with it. The colours are a great compliment with my green eyes and fair skin tone, but I think they would look great on a variety of people too. The plum is a beautiful shade of purple and the gold is vibrant too. They do apply sheer, but can be built up to intensify the colour. With a decent primer the colours stay true and have little creasing ability.

I have an eyeshadow sampler as part of a free gift with purchase, and it includes 'strawberry fudge duo pink shade,' 'beach plum duo purple shade' and 'like mink duo deep shade.' I LOVE the amount of pigment in the strawberry fudge pink shade, but it's kind of lacking in the purple and deep shades. The strawberry fudge pink shade is creamy in texture and goes on well, while the purple and deep shades are a little hard and aren't as creamy. I would say to try out the shadow because apparently the formulations differ in terms of pigmentation. But I will definitely be buying this shadow again in at least one color :)

I like this colour - I got this colour in a 6 piece e/s set in their Christmas 08 combo gift offering - a great deal that included a full size All about Eyes, a high impact mascara and a mini l/s in Twilight Nude - great colour. The palette packaging is really nice - all six shades in a what looks like a chrome Aero bar!
One of the colours included was the contour shade from the Beach Plum duo. In its own right it's a beautiful silver-plum colour with gold flecks that goes with my hazel/gold eyes and blends well with the rest of the colours in this palette. This whole e/s palette rocks, btw. 6 colours!

As with all of my clinique e/s, this was a GWP. This purple is quite the golden purple, which makes it blend with the gold (which is a browny-gold). It's not fantastic by itself either. The price is ok for a department store e/s, but I wouldn't have bought this. Standard e/s packaging, didn't stay long on my oily lids. Pretty much an average joe e/s that I just keep around.
