I am not a primer person, in fact, I only own one "true" primer that I do not use often because I like to rely on good skincare like moisturizer and serum to give me a good base. This caught my eye because it didnt seem like all the other primers, so I got some samples to try out. Here are my thoughts:

This is a primer-moisturizer hybrid. So for you people who generally dont like primers, this is for you. It was moisturizing yet didnt feel greasy and had a plush sort of feeling like from a typical silicone primer. It didnt ball up and it made my face smooth and a bit more evened out. This however, does not completely cancel out pores or wrinkles, it smoothed things over but dont expect this to be a pore filler. One thing I dont like is the strong citronella smell, it smells like one of those candles to keep bugs away. It's not gagging bad but I would prefer rose, powder, lavender, patchouli, anything but citrus-bug repellent smell! I like using this, skincare is something I dont mind layering as it actually helps and improves skin. That makes this product multitasking. One thing to keep in mind is that if your looking for a true primer to keep makeup in place all day and stay super matte, this is not for you. This is good for many skintypes, for oily skin you can skip the moisturizer and go with this. For dry skin folks, add a serum and or moisturizer. Im very impressed with this primer/base.

I would compare this to Too Faced Hangover primer, it's also a moisturizer/primer hybrid that is very similar in performance. I find the TooFaced one is more moisturizing and less "primer" like. Toofaced is lighter feeling and dewier. It also smells WAY better than BobbiBrowns. TooFaced Hangover primer is much cheaper at $32USD and Bobbi's is $58USD, Ouch. BobbiBrown's "primer" does have more unique ingredients like retinol, hydrolic acid, shea butter, yeast extract and flower oils. BobbiBrowns primer is more skincare/treatment and luxurious. I would bite the bullet and choose BobbiBrowns primer because quality over quantity. I would say go with TooFaced Hangover primer if your on a budget, it's still a great primer. I myself, plan to buy BobbiBrowns primer.

Overall, I really like this! I would recommend this.

I've been using this hydrating treatment from Bobbi Brown for a little over a year now. Essentially, this cream serves as my primer, prolonging the wear-time of whatever foundation I'm using.

The jar presentation of the product is probably off-putting to many folks. I don't mind it, but I do have the small travel jars from Bobbi Brown when they send samples, so I simply scoop out the Face Base from the large jar using a spatula, and I fill up the little travel jar. It fits nicely into my skin care box which sits on my bathroom counter, and I don't have to keep my big jar of the cream in sight (and thus don't have to worry that my sweet husband would accidentally knock the jar onto the floor).

My complexion is dry enough that Face Base is not moisturizing enough on its own for me, so I use the Bobbi Brown Extra Balm first, then follow with the Face Base. I've been mixing the Bobbi Brown CC & BB creams for my overall foundation, and the combination seems to work very well for me.

I have the typical sensitivity common amongst my fellow-redheads, and the Face Base has not caused any irritation whatsoever. The fragrance is not perfume-y, it is simply a pleasant combination of essential oils and herbs which impart a fresh citrusy scent. For those sensitive to such things, I find the scent dissipates upon application of other products.

This is a pricey moisturizer that doubles as a makeup base. I found it made my skin look flawless, and foundation went on evenly, and looked great! The scent is nice, but I worried it may be a bit irritating at first. I wish it was in a pump, but it's not so there you go.

I have just bought my first jar of this after numerous samples from the bobbi brown counter! I was a little bit hesitant because I'm a die hard Embryolisse fan (and general French pharmacie brands) and was unsure whether I needed this moisturiser in my daily makeup routine....well hell yeah I do...the smell of this alone wakes me up in the morning - it's the most incredible citrusy grapefruit smell and I use a small blob of it after I apply my embryolisse but before I apply my Tom ford primer and it just gives my skin a lovely plump and dewy look. I love the ingredients in this cream but I do wish it came in a pump jar as the pot is a little unhygienic! I recommend to try a sample before you buy as although I love the smell it is not for everyone (my sister hates it) and you need to see if it works for your skin type too - I have dry sensitive skin and I've been absolutely fine using it over the last month!

I loved the consistency and feel of this cream, and I wanted to love it! However, it did something highly unusual for me - it caused my face to sting a bit, and in a few days of use, break out in tiny little bumps. I'm sure this is great for those lucky people who don't react to it, but it didn't work for me.

This is a great product. With a built in primer to set makeup it minimizes the amount of layers put on everyday for makeup and skincare each morning. I used to have really oily skin when I used previous moisturizers. With the Shea butter my sensitive skin is calmed and gives a soft even canvas to apply makeup, much better primer than your cheap drugstore brands offer as well.

I have very dry skin with eczema and acne simplex (yes, being a makeup artist has destroyed my skin). I tried this moisturiser/primer about 18 months ago and it is a God sent. I absolutely adore the way it feels on my skin and I am relieved to find a product that doesn't irritate my eczema, dryness or acne! My spots have pretty much cleared up and my skin feels smoother when I use this product, makeup sits so nicely over it as it smoothes out my dryness and acne bumps, allowing me to get a flawless finish despite my skins problems! This product is my no. 1, I will keep using it for as long as it's making me feel beautiful in my skin! I love it!!!!

Ok , have to write ; last week , getting ready for work, i applied VFB , concealer (eyes), eye makeup and BB Pot Rouge blush . i was about to get dressed and realized i hadn't used foundation - my skin looked that good ( my nice lighting helps - but , still !) It isn't greasy or too oily in the least , and provides an excellent canvas. I'm always weird about fragrance, but the lemon /citrus doesn't bug me - have i smelled better? Yes , but have definitely smelled way worse products . Will repurchase for sure!!

I'm on the fence about rebuying I want to try out the Embryolisse line first and see if its more moisturizing if you don't have any complicated skin issues this cream is good, especially for winter in the midwest its a bit expensive but last a long time, for my combination dry skin works well especially if you are using drying skin care products like retin-a

This stuff is the business for a summer moisturiser! It's a rare breed that controls shine whilst still moisturising. I would recommend it for dehydrated skin that's oily due to the dehydration rather than dryer skin. Smells lovely. Best primer I've ever used and doubles up as my fave moisturiser. It's a bit expensive here in Ireland compared to the UK and US but I'll keep going back for more.
