I had high hopes for this product. Almost everyone I know uses Silk & Shine. I purchased it, and absolutely hated it. I don't like the way my lips feel (sticky and waxy) and I find it actually quite drying. My lips were even more dry AFTER applying. The taste is horrible. However, it is shiny and the packaging is good. I prefer the original Blistex over this. Will not be repurchasing.

I loved it! I bought it yesterday from walmart for buy one get one free for 98 cents! I was excited to try it because I mostly use chapstick and nothing else, and it has a smooth and silk texture! I keep using it and I will definetly use it again!

After Fresh Lip Sugar, this would be my second favorite lip balm. It's one of the few that don't make my lips peel soon after application. This is good to apply prior to putting on lipstick or lipstain. When I can't splurge on the Lip Sugar, this is definitely my go to lip balm.

One of the worst tasting lip balms. It leaves a very thin layer on the lips that doesn't really sink in. If you hate the feeling of dry chapped lips under a film, this is not for you...

I have been faithful to this product for 10 years now! I try others, but always go back to the Silk & Shine. It is true that it does make your lips dry after it wears off, I thought it was just because I was dependent on it! If I find a better one I would switch, but right now it's my first choice :)

This leaves a nice silky, shiney finish that I really like. There are other lip balms, though, that do better to give lasting moisture. I feel like this is good until it wears off... then my lips feel quite dry until I put more on... whereas when Burts Bees beeswax lip balm wears off, my lips feel fine.
It does have a distinct smell... but I don't mind it. And the spf is a definite added bonus.

I bought this product yesterday at Walmart and was looking forward to trying it. I like the way it felt when I put it on. It does indeed feel silky and nice, but I couldn't deal with the smell. It smelled strongly of something like tropical punch which I don't think I could handle for more than a few minutes. That's just me though. I definitely think it felt good though. If the smell doesn't bother you, give it a try.

This balm is just okay for me. It is really soft in the package, like if you apply too hard, it gets all smashed up and breaks. I'll use up the one I have, but I'm looking for something better.

I was generally surpised by how much I like this product. I'm usually a carmax or chapstick girl but I was getting tired of the waxey low lasting quality. So I picked up a two pack of this at walmart for under $2.
Love how silky it actually makes my lips feel and it isn't heavy or waxy feeling like everything else out there, it feels like it actually sinks into my lips instead of sitting on the skin. It's actually very fruity smelling. The biggest compliment I got was when my husband bent down to give me and kiss and came back for another one because he liked the silk and shine so much. lol. That's saying a lot because he doesn't like to kiss me with lip gloss or chapstick on...and refuses to kiss me with lipstick on.
I give it a four for over all appeal, packaging, and actually doing what it says.

I've tried a lot of other balms - but I keep coming back to this. For a DS lip balm and a Blistex product it's a little pricey but I love the softness and the shine it gives. After applying my lips feel silky and quite soft for 2 hours or so afterwards. I love that is has an SPF in there as well. For a Blistex balm with an SPF the smell and taste are quite mild fruity/sweet and I don't mind it at all. You have to reply every 2 hours or so but my experience tells me that that is true of almost all lip products so that doesn't bother me. All in all it's my favourite lip balm and I've been coming back to it for probably 10 years now. I can't say that about any of the other DS balms I've tried.

I have been buying this chapstick over and over for the last 5+ years. Attractive packaging, very hydrating and a nice pleasant scent.

This is the only product that helps my lips in the winter. I have tried others and always come back to this. The only con is the smell and rather sweet taste. But I will put up with that for how moisturizing this is for me.

This is my favourite lip balm of all time. I've been using it for about 5 years, every once in a while I stray, for example palmers, but never find them as moisturising as this one! I also like the amount of gloss, as it gives the light sheen but without the icky sticky feeling or making my lips look like a mirror. I love the smell and taste of it, although sometimes I get a bit sick of how sweet is smells. I order them in bulk of about 10 at a time so the price is always very cheap. I'm wondering why there are so many average reviews, since I find it way more moisturising than any others. I was thinking maybe there is a difference between the Australian and American version since the packaging is different? Not sure, but either way I love this stuff and doubt I'll ever find a better lip balm.
Edit - There is a difference between the aus and u.s versions - just checked the ingredients and they are significantly different. I was worried because the ingredients listed a paraben but the aus version does not have that ingredient.

This product was just OK for me, and I probably won't purchase it again. It was not moisturizing enough, and the fruity fragrance was a bit cloying.

Nothing special about this balm. I got suckered into the "silk and shine" name of this product thinking it would leave me with just that - silky and shiny lips. But the effects were faaaar from that. It actually dries my lips. I find myself re-applying constantly. I hate to throw balms away, so I keep it close to my computer and use it occasionally. But I will not purchase this stuff again. Try Palmer's lip butter or Burt's Bees - the results are way better.

I bought it for its moderate SPF 15 protection (as far as DS lip balm goes, it's pretty high). It does have a smooth, creamy consistency; however, it is not very moisturizing, if anything, I find it a tad drying. I am also not fond of the taste;it leaves a nauseating chemically-sweet taste in my mouth & it is probably due to its SPF ingredient. I've not had good luck with Blistex products; Chapstick is my favorite brand (I tend to stray so I can try new products).

It applies smoothly but it's not moisturising enough. But what I can't stand is the horrible taste of the spf. Once the sugary sweetness fades away, I'm left with a gagging bitter taste of sunscreen. I can't use Blistex products for this reason.
There are better spf lipbalms out there on the market. My go-to heavy duty lipbalm with spf is Jack Black.

This isn't my favorite lip balm, but it is one that I often use. It's inexpensive and works very well.
The balm is colorless, applies smoothly, and doesn't feel waxy or sticky. It has a weird and artificial scent and taste that I would probably describe as fruity. I personally find both to be unpleasant, but luckily they fade fairly quickly. SPF 15 is a nice plus.
As far as the glossiness goes, this is slightly glossier than regular lip balms. If you look at it under a bright light, there is very fine shimmer, but this isn't obvious at all from a distance.
My lips are low maintenance. A couple applications of this during are enough to keep them moisturized for the entire day. I sometimes use this at night too. If your lips require more moisture, you might want to consider another lip balm or just apply this one more often.
I like to use alone or under other lip products such as Korres Lip Butter.

I love this stuff because of how heavenly it smells. But it doesn't give me the moisture I'm looking for. My lips need all the moisture it can get & this...this just isnt cutting it. :/
