I regret buying this. I don't think it's pigmented. I try to use my money wisely and make the best purchases on quality products but I should have looked up reviews for this first. Best thing is the packaging.

I was a little scared to try this e/s after reading the reviews here, but the pics I saw online sold me on it. I actually really love this eyeshadow. I would describe it as a warm pinky rose w/ gold shimmer. In the pan it looks like a sparkly version of Eden (mine are right next to each other in the palette so it's clear how similar they are). This is a perfect work and school appropriate color, which I use in the crease with a lighter matte shade as a wash. The only reason for the missing star is that this color is not ultra-pigmented, but neither is it super sheer. Actually, it's just the right pigmentation for day time wear, imo. Love Shell and would repurchase. EDIT: This color is a staple for me now, perfect for a romantic look.

I love Stila shadows and hoped this would work as a wash, but it makes me look horrid, as if my eyes are swollen and red with crying. For somebody else it could be gorgeous, though. I tried it as a blush but even there it was too intense. I'm NC 15-20. I like Stila Nude a lot more; it has more beige and less sparkle/shimmer.

This is a really nice color, and makes a lovely base. Has a nice satin finish instead of the usual frost Stila's famous for. Layer on top of Bouquet for more impact.

***PIC AHEAD***

I usually love Stila e/s, they're silky and pigmented, but this one in particular was a big disappointment. I bought Shell off Ebay w/out testing and ewwww it doesn't really show up on my lids!! I'll give it a second chance and try to apply it wet as someone suggested, but I won't purchase such a hard texture e/s again.

Shell is a medium sandy pink with silver shimmer. The color is beautiful and I wish I could have given it a more positive review, but it's just too sheer and hard to work with, even when used wet.

When I first got ShellI I swatched it on the inside of my wrist and it was all bit invisible but there was a lot of shimmer. But, it was a completely different story on my lids. The colour, although subtle, shows up well (it's like a smokier version of Bouquet) and the shimmer is quite subdued.
I love to wear it as a wash on it's own with a gel eyeliner or a rich shadow as an eyeliner (today I'm using Dahlia with it).
The consistency isn't as buttery as Stila's standard, so I can get a bit of shimmery fallout when applying if I load too much on the brush.

This is a great eyeshadow for day-use. It looks good on pink undertones. I find it a little dry compared to some of the other Stila eyeshadows, though.

One of my favorite Stila shades. Gorgeous shimmery rose/warm pink/mauve with silver shimmer. I personally find this shade complex and unique as a wash and also as a crease shade. I use Shell all over wash with Barefoot Contessa (BC in the crease and wet as a liner) or wear Shell in the crease with Bouquet all over with Barefoot Contessa (wet) as a liner.

This color isn't highly unique, but it is very easy to use applied wet as a wash. It gives a pretty pinkish mauve glow without being too garish or overly shimmery. I find I have to pack it on to get color to show up, but it gives a really nice effect on my green eyes.

This is my first Stila shadow..and I love it so much, I look forward to picking out another color. I agree with previous reviewers that this shadow does work really well wet. But I think it also works nicely dry..but yes it you want your eyes to have that "pop effect" than wet is definately the way to go. Great shadow, gorgeous color, long lasting. Will repurchase.

i've been looking for the perfect pink e/s that won't make me look like i rubbed my eyes. This is a medium pink, sort of mauve-ish. It's so pretty! Love the texture and staying power of stila eyeshadows!

shell is a subtle rosy mauve with just a hint of shimmer. its very sheer so i always apply it wet which gives me beautiful results. even though it lacks the pigmentation most other stila shadows have, its still very beautiful in its own right. i never have a problem with any of my stila shadows creasing and this one is no different. when used with a stark white highlighter on browbones, shell stands out beautifully while complimenting my green eyes. it isn't my absolute favorite stila shadow, but i'll definitely repurchase it.

I didn't have very high expectations of this but it actually turned out pretty good. It makes for a good casual smokey eye...if that makes any sense. My complexion is warm with golden/olive undertones and it just darkened my lids but in a very natural colour. Very wearable but probably not a repurchase because firstly it's so big and secondly i'll probably try other colours.

Shell may look ruddy and/or faint on extremely fair skin tones or those with predominately yellow undertones. I strongly suggest sampling this colour in person before purchase.

I have been on the prow for the perfect pink-based wash to compliment my complexion, which has a strong coral-pink undertone throughout, to no avail. I have previously used Eden, which appeared a half-baked and orange on my lids. Prior to that, I used Grace, which appeared sullen and overly shimmery on my lids --so much so that the children I tutored made remarks about how frosty my eyelids looked.
Then I discovered Shell. The colour leaned slightly towards pink than yellow, and was in the same colour range as my natural pigmentation. The shimmer is warm-toned, and is not overbearing when applied thinly. Coverage is understated, and was not meant to be applied thickly. If only it was just a tad bit cooler in tone, I would give it a 5 without hesitation.

Shell is a beautiful color when used wet only. It does not show on my skin dry even if I layer it.

This is my most used Stila eye shadow. It's a rose/mauve/neutral shade in my opinion. I use it as a wash or all over eye lid base and then compliment with other Stila eye shadows. I also use to set my Stila eye mousse colors. Can look a little too reddish alone, but looks great with other colors.

Edit: I find Stila's eyeshadows a little too frosty for my 40 something eyes now.

I agree with the other reviewers -- you definitely have to use this eyeshadow wet (or pile it on top of something like MAC paints) in order for it to show up. That being said, it IS a great color when it does show up. Kinda like a lighter version of jezebel. I actually tried using shell as a blush (I was trying to go for a monochromatic look) and it worked out perfectly. It gives a glow on my cheeks without being overly shimmery and the texture of the shadow isn't as soft as some of Stila's other eyeshadows, so it works well as a blush. Try it! :)

Just bought this over the weekend and i definately found a winner.

The MUA used it as a wash and then used it wet just on the lid and it really did give me that "pop" affect. It also really made my blue eyes look fab.

I paired it with the smudge pot in gray and the convertible stick shadow in storm in the crease. My new daytime fave for sure.

I also wore it this morning with BB chocolate and it was equally fabulous. I agree it is similar to the BB shimmer rose color - but for some reason this shows on me better?

As much as i like this color, it is not working out for me. Barely visable on my LLL skin tone. Just blens in perfectly, good for a little to no eye shadow look maybe but just not my color i guess. It is great Stila quality and wears well without creasing.
