This is a fair hair gel. It does help slick my hair back and it smells nice. The only con I can think of is that it tends to leave my hair hard if I use it too much. I would repurchase again if my trusty gel was discontinued.

PROS: Leaves my 3C curly hair very shiny. No need for a shine serum.
CONS: Sticky. Sticks to your neck. Flakes on scalp. The absolute worst hair gel I have ever tried. Gooey. STICKY.
Go with Nexxus Exxtra instead.

I've been using this product for years on my natural biracial (white/black) 3b & 3c hair along with Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter, and I love it. Defines my curls, eliminates frizz, has a light hold, and doesn't dry my hair. Love it.

Wow... I really wasn't feeling this hair gel. Guess I'm alone on this boat- but I'll put my 2 cents in nevertheless, hoping it will help all my other 3b/3c haired ladies.
My hair is dry, coarse, curly, and frizzy. I tried putting it in my hair with nothing else. This provided no hold and didn't do a thing to define my texture- in fact, it actually weighed my hair down and flattened my hair(relaxed it curl; it's texture), while not being heavy enough, on the other hand, to control my frizz. It also did not give me any shine whatsoever, being drippy and wet for the first two hours after I put it on, and just evaporating, so to speak, as the day went on- leaving me with what I started out with- matte, dry hair.
I also tried pairing this gel up with a good leave-in. Once again, my curl was ruined and my texture relaxed. Though I didn't experience as much dripping, I also didn't experience any shine or hold, and the gel eventually evaporated as it did before.
For those who say it is moisturizing, I didn't feel any moisturizing at all on my hair. Quite the contrary, it made my hair a bit rougher, and re-activating my curl after using it was tough and nerve-wrecking. When compared to protein gels- I would much rather go with the protein gels, which actually add protein, reasonable shine and hold to the hair. I gave this gel many chances, and alas, it has failed them all. This gel is just not for me.

After seeing a video on youtube from user Waterlily716 recommending this gel, I had to try it. Always looking for the perfect gel that provides frizz-control and style without too much crunch or flaking. I have type 2a curly hair that is a bit unruly from years of coloring, and got wonderful results from the Fantasia IC polisher. Used a pretty heavy amount on my hair fresh out of the shower and just scrunched a bit. Put my hair up in a towel while I got dressed, then used a diffuser to dry my hair with a bit of scrunching. It was totally effortless. My hair didn't get crunchy at all, and my boyfriend even commented on how soft it is! And at five bucks, what's not to love!

I'm on the fence with this product for I don't know if I'd repurchase this gel or not. It does define my kinky/curly hair texture when I apply it to wet hair (as well as ponytail puffs) but whenever the product and my hair dries, it looks dull and dry. I'm looking for something that puts a sheen to my hair. I don't notice the so-called sparkles in the product either. I love that there's no alcohol and it's non flaking, but I'm looking for that silky, shiny look. I might just purchase a different version of the gel or opt for the serum but I'll use this up first.

I use this for creating a nice smooth "ballerina bun" in the workweek mornings when I shower. After washing my hair, I gently wrap hair in towel and allow it to soak up excess water. Then I use this gel liberally all along edges, and smooth hair back into a ponytail, securing with an ouchless rubberband.. I then wrap into a ballerina bun or fan around a home made donut bun , and secure with bobby pins or ouchless rubberbands. Never flakes or "uncoils", and hair looks shiny all day, even when its done air drying. I have dense 4A/B phytolaxed (texlaxed) strands. The fact that it is less than $5 a vat, and the ingredients are all great for healthy hair (Aloe Vera Gel, Glycerin, Vitamin E, Wheat Protein) makes it all the more lovable. By the way, I have NEVER experienced flaking with this, and I think I am heavy handed in my application. Also, my hair never feels "dried out" like most gels would because of alcohol content. The directions say you can use for wet sets and wash and gos, but I have never used it that way so cant speak to that. For my purposes, I absolutely love it.

I am african america, natural hair. I love using this gel. It does not flake and it holds my hair in whatever style I need. I don't really like doing wash and gos because of the shrinkage and my hair doesn't really have definition in the curls. I mix some of this gel and some shea butter or Ghee butter and twist cornroll my hair and let it air dry over night and then i take out the twists and i have such beautiful ringlets! And everyone raves about how soft my hair is. Also...the gel helps to keep the frizz away and keeps the definition with NO FLAKES!

I don't really like this for my hair. Maybe its not meant for my curl. i have more of a wave than a tight curl so this just kind of weighed my hair down not really doing anything special. I am going to exchange it for something else.

This gel is like gold!!! I love it!! I have natural, 4a/b hair. This gel works wonderfully to make my hair lay down. I usually have trouble getting my hair into a sleek ponytail. Today, after washing, I applied this gel on my wet hair and I had NO trouble making the ponytail. My hair obeyed me. This gel also defines my curls, smoothes, moisturizes, doesn't flake, and is inexpensive! What else can I ask for?? This gel is perfect! This is my second jar and I will always repurchase!!

this is the best gel ever, but from my experience with natural hair (ok ok, my natural, unprocessed hair is kinda new to me, lol) , I will only be using gel for ponytails, etc rather than with a wash-n-go. Scrunching in gel with any combination of products and leave it be seems to make my hair get frizzier the day after, so that is a definite no-no. But this gel doesn't leave build up (I have tons of thick hair so I use a LOT of product), doesn't turn my hair into a concrete helmet, has sparkle lites in it (?), and doesn't dry out my hair
my hair is 3c-ish
**ETA ok ok, I figured out how to make a wash-n-go work with gel - spray in some diluted setting lotion ( I use lottabody) and the use the gel. Of course, this is after using a leave-in conditioner. So I bumped my rating up to 5 stars.

I love this gel! I have natural tightly coiled type 4 hair. I haven't been able to find anything else in this price range that controls the frizz AND keeps my hair soft. I think the key to preventing flakes is to only use it on damp hair as the instructions state. This is my everyday styling gel.

This review is for Fantasia IC's Styling Gel. To keep it short, I love this stuff and have used it for years. It's a fantastic holding product on my afro-kinky 4A natural hair. Never flakes, never dries my hair out (actually seems to moisturize a bit), never fails. This gel is fantastic when used alone, or mixed with your favorite creamy moisturizer on wet hair as a pre-braidout prep. Fantasia's product does not dry "rock-solid" like that brown protein gel, so if you're trying to slick your hair into a concrete-like helmet you might have to go back to that Ampro gel. (I keep a jar of both at all times.)
Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention, this stuff is good for defining beautiful little nappy curls.
Happy stylin!

I like the fact that its alcohol free, rather cheap for the amount you get, and is the only thing that I have found so far that does a really good job at slicking my hair down when I'm in need of a relaxer. It does flake like the heavens but I really don't think it gets any better than this.

There are more than one versin of the Fantasia IC Hair Polisher Gel. However, I am writing a review on the clear one. Unfortunately, the clear gel leaves the hair hard and not flexible at all! It is rather thick and it will suck moisture out of your hair. And, it does produce buildup and flaking when used in the hair daily.

I am very pleased with this job. It's affordable, doesn't leave my hair stiff or crunchy, and gives it great shine and hold. I bought the tub size which is a little hard to use, but I received a free leave-in treatment within the packaging. I really do like this brand and become more and more impressed with it as I try more products. Good for those with medium to thick hair.

Recommended back in the day when perms were all the rage when I needed to hydrate my dry damaged hair. I used tons of this stuff because it was so good and left my hair looking awsome. Now YEARS later I'm still using this stuff when the need to let my hair naturally dry and be free. Yup, gone are the days of perms but not my gel.

This Is THE BEST GEL Hands down!! I have very thick curly bi-racial hair and it's the only thing that smooths my hair, defines the curls (makes them pop), and still keeps my hair very soft and shiny. It doesn't harden my hair like other gels but it has a very nice hold that I like. So if you are a curly girl like me try it out! I got a 16oz for about 3.99 at target!
