Oh dear, I'm going to have to go against many of these reviews and say that this lipliner in Spice was too orange for my lips and wasn't a HG for me. It certainly doesn't look MLBB. I am a C4 shade in MAC. Orange can be quite aging unless it's done in a more coral way and this is just a browny orange shade that is a little too dark too on me and makes my teeth look less white than more pinky lipliners. Oh well!

The texture of the lipliner is better than average though.

I got this in a set (together with Rose Tea lipstick, which is also a great color, and it matches Spice extremely well).
This is my favorite lip pencil ever!
It is a perfect neutral for me (NW20), it applies well, it is simple and effective.
You can combine it with variety of colors.
The one I own lasts for many years, although I use it quite often.

Great lip pencil. Too bad estee lauder made the packageing on the new pencils useless. I wish they would go back to the original way.

I got this from my mom a long time ago. I had been using MAC lipliner in Whirl, which I now realize was looking too plum for me to shape my lips. This is a perfect match to my natural lip colour, it makes my lips look plumper and very natural, I will always buy this pencil, i hope they don't discontinue it!!

This has to be one of the best lip liners I've used. It goes on really smooth and the color is beautiful. It goes good with just about any lipstick!!

I have used this lip liner since probably 10 years. I got it in a gift box from Estee Lauder, and it last me quite a long time. Then later I got it in another Estee Lauder gift box, when buying something for over 40 dollars.
It's a lip liner that has such a beautiful natural pink-peach color, it's like giving my lips just a hint of color and shape. I can use it with many different lipsticks -pink tones and peach tones go best with it- and I can line them over lip gloss, which gives me full and plumped up lips without looking unnatural.
It also isn't hard to apply, it is as though it almost glides around the lip contours by itself.

It goes so many ways and the application is so easy, that it's a must-have, in any case to me.
I am glad I never had to pay for this one, but if I will run out, I will do it.

This lipliner is almost exactly the same colour as The Body Shop's one in Beech. It's a great neutral brown. I find I have to use a light hand with it as it looks too dark otherwise but overall a good lipliner.

I bought this on ebay for 2 €, it looked nice colour so i wanted to give it a try. The colour is really nice and neutral, almost the same like a lips. Goes nicely with most of lippies. I got many compliments when I wore it alone, they sad it looks like not wearing nothing at all but still, lips look nice and full, especially with a little bit of gloss. Still, it' s not perfectly my match. It's a mix of brown orange and pink, for my skin tone it's too orange, to warm, it makes me look pale. I belive this colour is much better for fair skined people. Looks like I nead something more redish. I guess I have an old version , since mine is not two-sided, has no brush and can not be refilled. It is a a simple blue pen liner with a golden cup. It is a little bit dry IMO, maybe because it is not so fresh anymore. Worth a try. I wont buy again since it's not my colour.

I use this with neutral colored lipsticks where Tawny is too pink.

If Wet & Wild 666 is too dark for you and makes your lips look like clay (which it does for me) then this is a great substitute.

I have been using the same color lip liner for thirteen years, since my first prom in high school. This color looks just beautiful. It's very YLBB - I wear it with an emollient lip balm over it on most days when I don't want to look like I am wearing makeup. When I go out, I add a layer of clear, pink, or peach lip gloss over it and get a very beautiful color. This is so very versatile and I will never be without it. They are a little pricey but tend to last 7-8 months, so it's worth it to me. I have tried both the mechanical pencil version and the regular pencil (a soft formula) and tend to stick with the latter - I feel like I waste less product.

Updated 10/17/08:
This is a hard one to beat! Fortunately, Whole Foods just made waves and set a standard for cosmetic ingredients and then revamped their inventory to keep only the cleanest makeup options available for purchase in a store available to all who go and check it out. I support that! There are so many liners to choose from, this couldn't be easier.

**I reserve a 5-lippie rating for products that shine above the rest in terms of efficacy, and based on toxicity and comedogenicity. I have a strong interest in consumer health and setting higher standards for the beauty industry. I extensively research products developed with consumer health in mind. This is my personal quest to find the best-quality products. We shouldn't have to choose between beauty and health.**

I have two of these that i received in a PWP holiday 2004 set from EL. The kit contained Spice Writer and Apple Cordial Artist Lip Pencils with the white rubber finger space thing. But anyways, Spice writer is a great nude brown color. the pencil is not super soft like some brands, (VS lipliner) but its also not super hard like some lines (WnW). ITs just an ok product in terms of quality. I will continue to use Spice but I wouldnt repurchase.

I am a PPP and this liner which is a pretty brown, is too dark for my pasty white skin. It made me look OLD. It comes in a somewhat thick, black, twist up two-sided tube. One side is a lip brush, and the other is the wind up liner. I never use the lip brush, but the liner can be replaced with a refill, which is a neat idea instead of buying a whole other tube. I like the consistency and feel of this creamy liner, but just not the right color for a PPP.

Although I don't use lipliners a lot, this is a nice one to have on hand. It's a good basic neutral (not too pink or orange) to have and it goes with lots of lippies. I like that you can buy refills and the packaging will not be wasteful.

I received this as a gift. A lovely neutral colour that works well on its on (with balm) or other neutral ls/lg.

I find this isnt as creamy as my GA ll but it stays on fairly well and is pigmented.

This is simply the best lipliner ever...the texture....the color....,the staying power......the package....I could go on. I was using Benefit Posh, which is very nice, but Spice is a more flattering skin tone color, and I love that it is automatic. The packaging is beautiful too.

I am so glad I repurchased this after straying to various different companies over the last year, I am a Sephora victim I guess. I was most recently using a Paula Dorf one that almost made me forget that liners could last longer than an hour. Spice is the perfect color that blends into my nude lipsticks perfectly and locks them in if I blend with the lipbrush attached. Great product!

This is my HG lipliner. It is beautiful and goes with every lipstick or gloss I have ever paired it with. Looks great on its own with a little chapstick, and goes great with all of my color lipsticks too. The texture is perfect--I have tried too many lipliners that are so hard that they hurt my lips, and I really have to dig into my skin for the color to show up. Not so with this liner. Soft and smooth, goes on easily but stays on too. I can't even count how many of these I have gone through, and I'll continue to buy them unless something comes along that's even better!
