Great product!!!
I have only used this product in my waterline, but it's very easy to apply unlike most eyeliners!
Goes on in 1-3 swipes!
Long lasting!
Perfect perfect perfect!
I haven't used too many eyeliners, but YSL went on MUCH easier than the Sephora brand...(I've used some other brands too but I can't remember which one's weren't good).

Why do people not like this!? I really, really love these. They are easy to apply, blend and smudge. The colours are all so flattering and they do not budge on me for 8+ hours.
These are by far my favourite eye liners of all time, at least I've found a HG product in at least one area.

I may have an updated version of this pencil because mine does not look like the picture.
I bought this in two colors, ultramarine and amazon green, and while I love the colors and how smoothly they apply, I am sad about the issues with it; I can only carefully apply this to my top lashline but if I dare to put it anywhere near the bottom lashline or get too close to the top lashes, it coats my contact lenses within 2 hours and I cant see out of them anymore.
I took them out and rinsed/washed them with the saline solution but the film would not budge so I had to use my emergency glasses I keep in the car.
I have tried this twice just to make sure that it was this eyeliner that was the culprit. It also smudged onto my browbone within a few hours of wear, but I do have very oily lids and slightly hooded eyes as well. Still, there are other eyeliners that dont budge on me and dont transfer, like noir cosmetics and most UD liners.
I do like the YSL potted gel eyeliner because it does not have these issues, I just cannot recc. this pencil.
It is also very soft, which means you have to sharpen it every time if you dont want a huge thick line across your eyelid, making this a very pricey eyeliner.

another very expensive product but a high quality one. It lasts well and doesnt smudge. I havent had any eye irritation either so thats a major reason to make a repeat purchase.

I have the waterproof version of this in Black. I can say that this is the best pencil eyeliner I have ever used. It glides on so easily on my waterline. I'm very happy with this product.

This review is for the waterproof version, which is more like a crayon than a pencil. I have this in three shades, all of which are super pigmented. The black is vivid like ink (which may or may not be a good thing, personally I think dark blacks do not flatter my eyes), the brown is a perfect deep (almost black) brown, and the navy colour is also very nice. All the colours are smooth and tug-free, which is a big bonus for waterproof pencils. When applied to the inner rim of the eye (tightlining/waterlining), the product does tend to migrate away but nonetheless stays put once it reaches your lash line. Having said that, for me, this is the pencil with the greatest staying power on the waterline. It does not smudge.
Although this a HG eyeliner for me, I had to take one lippie off for the fact that every second time I use it, I have to sharpen it. So it is not a very economical pencil, given it is not on the cheap side to begin with. That's the trade off for being super soft and easy to apply.

this is a great eyeliner. I don't understand why people say it smudges, to me it melts off, but does not smudge. The sales person at Sephor marked their hand with it, and tested it for me by rubbing for a while, nothing happened. I got it in darkest black, and when I wear it, it stays for 8+ hours. It only melts off at the end of the day.

I have this eyeliner in brown.its a nice rich chocolate brown on me and looks good with my brown/green eyes. I think it's way over priced tho. It goes on nicely and doesn't tug at my skin but I do notice it smudges on my oily skin at the outer corners of my eye after a few hours.itvalso doesn't stay in my water line for but about an hour. Very disappointing,I really wanted to love this eyeliner, but it could perform better in my opinion.i will continue to use it but probably won't repurchase.

This has been the best eye liner I've used so far. It's a great shade of brown to use around the water line and on my top lid instead of black. I bought this in patent leather. Lasts hours but does tend to smudge after wearing all day especially since it's humid where I live.

Always have been a fond user of eyeliners, liquid of kohl, I've finally met my true HG: dessin du regard. You don't have to push hard on your skin in order to get some pigmentation, it sticks. And I'm always surprised after a day and a yoga class, my eyes still look beautiful with the pencil. I do sugget to use the darkest brown instead of the black. It's already very rich in colour, and many people may perceive it even as black. Though it's a bit more gentle, and your eyes, especially when they are green, will pop out a helllotmore!!!!!
one con I do have to mention, it that beause of the wax, which is in the formula of the crayon, you have to sharpen the pencil every 3 times your using it. IT might be €20,00, but you don't have this pencil around as long as would love to. Very short life time.. If you use it everyday, you might need to buy a new one after 2 months.

I have this pencil in the #2 patent leather color. It's a dark brown. I bought this pencil because I was looking for an eyeliner similar to the limited edition Armani pencils. This is close but not quite. the staying power is pretty good, application is pretty smooth no tugging. But seriously the armani is better in my opinion. Once you put it on and it dries for a minute it stays on allllllllllllllllll day, no budging! So this is close but not as good in my opinion!

One of the best colored eyeliners I have ever used. I usually buy Sephora ones I like wearing colored eyeliner but I feel that some are not pigmented well. But these work really good the colors are bold and last me all day,a nd also creamy. I have it in pink, blue, and lavander. They can be pricey - $30 per pencil but I think their worth it. Also the smudger it comes work very well. I also purchased the black but I ended up losing so if I suggest that you only use this one special occassions because $30 for a black eyeliner is kinda expensive I wouldn't waste aso much money on a black eyeliner, they all work the same on me so I wouldn't waste my on the black one

I have it in 4 (Smokey Purple). It's so soft and such a pleasure to apply. It doesn't tug my eye lid, just glides on. It doesn't smudge even if I wear it on a bare lid. I can apply it really thin or intensify. I didn't use it on my waterline though so I can't comment on that. But overall, it's one of my two favorite eye pencils (the other one is Chanel's kohl). Will def repurchase
Update: Like all YSL products, it dried up pretty quickly. And after that it was not such a pleasure to use. Will try to find better alternatives

Simply the best--deepest black, reminds me of MAC's Smolder in terms of that deep black that has a green tinge against my skin when I smudge it out.
Love:
Deep pigmentation (see above)
Lack of binding ingredients means more pigmentation and less creamy, waxy mess
More like a powder pencil than a creamy pencil
Wears impeccably, this is *the pencil* to buy if you're looking for a liner to smoke out
Comes with smudger and sharpener, which makes my life so much easier!
Not waterproof so easy to tweak throughout the day
Wish:
it was cheaper, but you get what you pay for so...
just slightly less transferring, but this is a kohl so it will smudge, but this is the least messy, most heavily pigmented of the kohls I've tried to date (far surpasses Chanel, MAC, Chantecaille, BB, LM, UD, MUFE, Dior, Smashbox, EL, and Lancome).
You need this.

This review specifically focuses on the YSL Dessin Du Regard Haute Tenure eyeliner in #10 (Purple Silk). I absolutely adore the overall aesthetics of all things YSL, and this liner is no exception. The color alone - a very vivid yet simultaneously soft and wearable matte lilac - would prompt me to repurchase this pencil. It reminds me of the gorgeous pastel eyeliners that Delux Beauty (which unfortunately no longer exists) used to offer in offbeat shades like matte turquoise, bright pink and lilac, in fact. In fact, this color is a bit of a surprise coming from YSL, which tends to be a bit more conservative in its color palette than comparable lines such as Chanel Beauté. This shade earns me compliments, yet I can only imagine how amazing it would look on someone with brown eyes (mine are blue/yellow). In terms of presentation, this liner also earns high marks. Like all YSL beauty products, the packaging is sleek and luxe, and I appreciate the smudging sponge at the opposite end of the liner, as well as the included sharpener. On the negative side, the formula leaves a good bit to be desired, especially for a liner at this price point. It tugs upon application a fair amount, more so than any of my other liners. (And it is my understanding that this is reformulated product - so I can't imagine how much it tugged before!) My idea of eyeliner heaven would be this color offered in the Urban Decay 24/7 formula. Someone needs to get on that one, ASAP!

so i think i have the weirdest eye area. everyone hates this eyeliner, i hate all eyeliners and all these years haven't really found my HG eyeliner ... til I tried this one at the counter in Nordstrom. I've heard and seen bad reviews on this one, but for some reason, my eyes are actually liking them. For the first time, an eyeliner that does not migrate on me. The only thing I don't like about this is I have to put eye drops on my eyes cuz right after I put this on, my eyes start to water and turn red like I have pink eye ! otherwise, after the tears and eye drops and all, the color is still intact, in my waterline. it's too bad it doesn't work very well for a lot of us beauty junkies.

I am extremely dissapointed in this product. On my quest for the right eyeliner i figured (stupidly) the more $$ = better and bought this in black.
Do you know what happened??? IT TRANFERED ONTO MY BROWBONE. WTF THAT is the degree to how badly smudgey this product is.
I must say that it goes on extremely smooth, lasts long and u only have to press very lightly.. but goddamn this stuff smudges like hELL. it lasts very long on the waterline but everythign else ends up all over my face.
the color is beautiful and rich, whish i guess is what i paid for and the only sign of "quality". i will use it up but will not repurchase.

Quite unimpressive for the price. I have #4 Indigo. The texture is quite stiff and the eyeliner does not apply smoothly. There is a crayon-like consistency. That being said, the colour payoff is poor too. Muddy and barely there. Mac is more highly pigmented. I did, however, like that YSL included a sharpener.

I got this eyeliner in black in a set as a GWP and I was excited to use it. But to my disappointment, it is not water-proof nor smudge-proof. Once I tightline my eyes and blink, the liner transfered to my bottom lashes. It smudges like crazy too. Maybe it'll stay put if I used a primer underneath it but I want something that stays all day long!
However, it goes go on smoothly and is very soft and easy to use, and the colour is very intense. But with the heavy price tag and the fact that it doesnt stay put, I will not repurhcase and might try some cheap Asian liners as they tend to be water, smudge, sweat-proof.
