Mmm, this goes on like fresh, wet violets. It can be a little light and powdery on me, not as sweet as some other people are getting. I also like this layered over DFB Amber. My only complaint is that it is too faint on its own. Without the Amber, it fades fast and can only be smelled with my wrist right under my nose.

This is a sweet violet scent. It seems to be a single note fragrance and smells the same to me in the bottle, wet, and after the drydown period. I love the smell of violet candies so this is a great, simple scent to wear when I am feeling girly.

I really, really like this. On its own it's a beautiful, fresh violet scent that stays away from smelling like plastic. Layered underneath DFB Amber it's DIVINE. Those two unlikely-to-mix fragrances come out a soft, beautiful semi-oriental, somehow reminiscent of L'Heure Bleue, although fresher, less complicated and less melancholy.

In the summer, when I first tried this, it smelled very metallic and artificial to me. I then tried it before putting it up for swap; and felt the same way. I then started wrapping some DB stuff for a swap, and took one last whiff so I could maybe write reviews on them. Well, that was when Violet "kicked in" and smelled just the way I wanted to. This happens to me sometimes; my senses seem to want some time to become accustomed to a scent before they could make sense out of it. Oh well, I don't care for oils anyway, but I would love this violet in a EDT or EDP spray. The spray part is essential! Let me check the DB site and see if this is possible.

Pretty, sweet violet scent with a touch of green. Rather similar to Borsari's VdP except for the drydown: maybe this is the fault of the oil form, but I detect a mustiness underneath the sweet floral fragrance. Does not make me want to give up on VdP.

A kicky, girly, sweet violet scent, in the same tradition of Borsai Violetta di Parma. Like candied sugar confections, green, freshly cut stems and pure clear violets....so very feminine, innocent and natural. If only I had the patience to wear oils! But I don't, and for that reason alone I stick to the Borsai.

Smells synthetic to me when first applied, with a whiff of--hmm...nail polish remover?--especially if you put a big dab in one place. But it dries down to a lovely sweet violet scent--I've never smelled violet candies, so I can't compare it to those, but it is neither powdery nor green. Seems rather Victorian & sentimental to me. Very pretty. Lasts much longer than most violet scents, too.

Sweet, candy-like violet. Very much like the little tins of violet candies I pick up in import stores (I'd always wished I could find a perfume that smelled like them...lucky me!). And long-lasting, too! A violet lover has nothing to lose when ordering from DFB, not only is the oil wonderful, but the shipping is fast and the owner is as sweet as the scent. Speaking of that, I probably should reorder myself, I've nearly reached the end of my sample and Lysa is such a pleasure anyway.

i am so shocked that i love this- it smells just like Penhalligan's Violetta - only so far the lasting power exceeds. I just layered it on the violetta lotion - and am blown away!
the jungle gardenia is on my other wrist -- am loving that as well...

Agreed, it does smell like sweet violet candy - very girlish and pretty - but it also has a metallic note that was sour to my nose - good news is that the nasty metallic note disappeared quickly. I prefer DSH English violet and would like to keep this one to the sweets. Nice to sniff though now and then.

Oh my grasshoppers! This smells so so so good. I am in love! It realy does smell like those pretty little violet candies that come in those victorian looking tins. I have always loved that scent and wondered why there was no perfume that smelled just like it. This one does! The customer service at DFB is phenomenal. The samples are generous too but I NEED a full size of this.
When I first applied it smelled nice but not sweet like the candy but after about a half hour it smelled perfect. Be sure to wait for the scent to warm up.

I just received this recently, and it does really smell just like the neat violet candies I get in a tin that are from France. I buy them every time I go to a natural foods store and I've always loved the smell. This perfume replicates the sweet and innocent sugary aroma perfectly. I wear this often and always get positive comments. Cant beat the price either!

This perfume oil smells just like violet candies. It is slightly sweet...not at all a sour-ish or green. Just light purpley sugary violets.

This being my first review... I must say this first, Thank you to all you MUAER'S for all your insights and observations. They have helped me immensely on my SCENTUAL journey!!
Now..... as a owner of over 100 fragrances in my wardrobe, after buying this wonderful, sweet, and pretty perfume oil, I am Tickled to have found it and wear it with glee! Being from the U.S.A. I am not familiar with the sweet little PARMA candies from the UK.However after reading the reviews, ordering and enjoying this scent, I have since ordered the sweets!
Long lasting, sweet and a delight to wear. My DH....well, let's just say... that he found the smell and me irresistible! :)
I'll buy again and in quantity. BTW.. the customer service is impeccable and delivery is lightening fast.
ENJOY!!!

“I smell Parma Violets!” It was the first thing my man's brother said when he walked into the room, and it was me, wearing DFB Violet. Parma Violets are little Victorian violet sweets and this is totally candied violets... yum! Sweet, petite and innocent. I really like it but Bosari Violetta di Parma is still my favourite violet with its fresh cut greens, although DFB Violet helps it to last a little longer too.
PS: I have a roll on perfume by Scentbyspirit.com called Egyptian Lover, which is a spicy dry cinnamon bark scent. It goes wonderful with this...Warm spicy violet!

VIOLET-This is a scent that I would really never pick for myself. I guess for fear of smelling like an old lady or something. That could not be further from the truth. This is a very "candy" scent violet. It reminds me of a little victorian tin box of violet candies that I use to have. I could never eat them because 1. They were too pretty and 2. I could always smell the violet and didn't feel like I should be eating flowers. But...if a flower were candy...it would be this. Pretty...dainty and sweet. This will be a repurchase for me.

Hmm, if there was such a thing as violet candy, this would be it. This is a very sweet, edible take on the violet scent. I will not purchase a full bottle, as it is too candyish for me, but I will definitely use up my sample. I keep thinking I might find something to layer it with to darken it up a little, but haven't hit on the right note yet.
