I used the full bottle, stimulates not my hair growth, makes my hair not softer or stronger but makes my fine, long hair dry. This was my first order from iherb dot com. $7.29 for 414ml is cheap, but not good for my hair. I have a coupon code for this site if you want order the first time: VIK284 and you have 5$ off.

I buy this product from iHerb (iherb dot com). I like the product because it is cheap to buy from iHerb ($7.29), it is organic and it is free of parabens (can cause various reproductive cancers in men and women), harsh preservatives, synthetic colors or fragrances, phthalates (aside from the endocrine disrupting properties, can damage the lung, kidney and liver tissues), sodium lauryl or laureth sulphate (combined with other chemicals, can become nitrosamine, a powerful cancer-causing agent; penetrates your skin’s moisture barrier, allowing other dangerous chemicals in). If you are new to iHerb, you can use Coupon Code ------JTV564 at checkout and get $10 or $5 OFF your first order. Shipping is free for orders of $20 or more. Flat $4 international shipping for orders of $40 or more.

I have long, fine hair, but it is very healthy. I am thinning a little in the front of my hairline and I was hoping this product would help improve my situation. I was very disappointed. The shampoo wasn't so bad but the conditioner was terrible and did nothing. I actually think it dried out my hair and made it brittle. I tried using alternative leave in conditioners/sprays, etc to try to improve my complaints, but no luck. This product might work well on someone with short hair but it's definitely not good for long lengths. I will not buy this again.

This is drying - The old formula worked great. It actually thickened my hair. Now, not so much.

It’s okay. It cleans my hair well, smells like lavender, and is reasonably priced. However, it definitely doesn’t help my hair grow or make it feel any thicker or fuller—I think this is just a gimmick, or maybe my body doesn’t respond to biotin, as I’ve taken the supplement and also seen no results.

Ok, I ve been using this for about a month.
At first I thought it was the worst shampoo ever, being not used to sls free shampoo. Now I absolutely love this stuff. I have oily scalp and baby fine hair, and not so much of it. After a month I see baby hair all over my head and it gets longer and stronger every day. However this won't work for you if your hair is dry. I use the conditioner too, but start 10 cm away from roots, as my hair lays super flat if I don't.

I honestly had high expectations for this product because I love other Avalon products, however, I can say that this shampoo and conditioner didn't do much for my hair at all and it certainly did not thicken it or give it more volume. I think it actually almost weighed my hair down. I have to say that I like that the ingredients are all natural and that it kept my hair from shedding at much. Other than that, my hair was pretty lack luster and didn't find this product special, but not awful either.

LOVE this shampoo and the conditioner. I have very fine, thinning, natural curley hair and this product makes my hair feel and look (and I believe it is) much thicker since using it. I am using it in conjunction with hair vitamins. Please don't ever change this product or add any silicones... its hard to find a good shampoo/conditioner that works without silicones and silicones in hair products causes major hair loss for me. Thank you!!

Biotin is a must-have. The ingredient Biotin, or vitamin B7, is crucial for the production of keratin, the key structural component of hair, nails, and skin. Daily doses as high as 60 mg a day can be taken for long periods, as there have not been any reports of biotin toxicity.

I also make sure to use a shampoo with a high biotin and vitamin content - for this I recommend the Shielo Volume Shampoo. The Shielo shampoo, combined with biotin supplements, will give you everything you need. I had success using both together.

I like the general cleaning of this, but I think it might be drying to my hair. I can't report any long term use so I don't know how well my hair will possibly grow/stop shedding. I'm not crazy about the smell but I do like that aloe is one of the top ingredients. I had a great experience with avalon nourishing lavendar type, but so far not this. Won't repurchase.

This is definitely my favorite shampoo after one years usage. I started using the volume shampoo by redken a while back, and I noticed how my hair started to shed like crazy! I went back to using this again, and the shedding stopped after the first wash. I have never been hysterical about the products I put in my hair, but this works! And it's cheap too compared to salon products. After using it my hair feels fluffy and fresh, and I don't see my dark hair strands lying in the step of the stairs anymore. My father in his 40's, with thinning hair like most men his age, like this shampoo too, as it makes his hair feel more full. The scent is herbal-ish and fresh too, so men can safely use it without feeling to feminine, heheh.

Sadly, the conditioner is not rich enough for my taste, so I use the conditioner from Joico in the ends to make up for it.

Edit: They have changed the formula, this shampoo now makes my hair dry, limp and cant cleanse for shit. Won't buy again :( Changed the rating for "no", but if you can get your hands on the old formula - buy it!

I've used this shampoo for almost ten years, on and off. It's what I always come back to. In the last few months, they've changed the formulation to make it more eco-friendly. Unfortunately, it now dries my hair out, just a bit. I'll still use it, as it's better than most natural shampoos if you have fine hair like mine that tends to get limp and heavy. However, I miss the old formula.

update: changed my rating to a 3. This shampoo is now way too drying for my hair in the new formulation. I've switched to Griffin Remedy shampoo for everyday use and my hair is getting back to normal.

I have a lot of fine, normal, very long hair. It can look limp and lacks volume. I have tried 3 biotin shampoos, this one, Jason's, and Mill Creek's. I like them all, but Mill Creek was probably my favorite (though it's the hardest to find!). If you're looking for a biotin shampoo that's more moisturizing, try the Mill Creek Biotin Shampoo. I would be happy to buy the Avalon shampoo again, though, as it works well and is more widely available. It makes my hair look fuller and leaves it very shiny. I have not used it in conjunction with the biotin conditioner because I love my Trader Joe's Nourish Spa Conditioner and they work well together. This is not a moisturizing shampoo, but I haven't found it to be drying, either.

I bought this shampoo for all the same reason everyone else did, to thicken my fine hair as well as it being organic (healthier for my hair). Let me tell you how DISAPPOINTED i was with this. I had more hair fall than i previously did. I've been using it now for 2months. I haven't seen any change. every time i wash my hair so much hair falls out on the tub. The main reason i bought this was to reduce hair fall, but it made it worse. I assumed all the rave reviews would mean something but it wasn't. Maybe I'm that one in hundred it didn't work for or love. Whatever the case is, this shampoo isn't so great everyone says it is. I wanted to give it two months to use the shampoo and conditioner before i reviewed.
It's a shame because i was really hoping this shampoo would be "it" the one you can't let go of. This did not make my hair or appear thicker in any way. Never purchasing this again.
(my hair is a bit oily and fine)

Am halfway through this bottle. With this shampoo, I had to shampoo twice. The first time it doesn't really lather, and it needs a second time for the lather to really come out well. It can be drying on the ends if left on for too long - I've always had to use conditioner to detangle my hair. It does not give the squeaky clean feeling either. I end up wondering if I've really washed properly.
On the good part, it doesn't irritate my sensitive scalp, and even after a day, my scalp doesn't get oily or itchy (other shampoo can leave residue which cause itchiness later on).
It's not that great, but ain't that bad either. I may buy if I can get it during deals but otherwise, not a must-buy.

Look I tried it for over a year and felt my hair did thicken as i had thinning hair in some areas. I felt sometimes i had to cut my hair short because the longer it got the more unmanageable it was. I felt it didnt make it softer even with the conditioner and it may of irritated my eyes as i am allergic to fragrance shampoos or herbal ones with certain ingredients which im not aware of. Id like to keep using it and ill wear goggles in the shower to prevent the shampoo getting in my eyes if I have to. cheers

UPDATE: They have changed the formula and now it is drying. Maybe if your hair is just fine but not dry or processed this will be still very good, but I had to switch to Mill Creek Biotin Shampoo. So sad.

This shampoo is amazing but you should have some patience before you discover its properties. My hair is dry and the outer layers are fried due to years and years of straightening in the attempt to get rid of my frizzies, until I discovered that this is a vicious circle and I stopped ironing 6 months ago. This means that I have to use lots of care in order to tame my frizzies. After many months and lots of money spent on the quest for the perfect care I have found that the Nioxin Shampoo System 6 followed by L’Oreal Elvive Smooth Intense Conditioner, some serum and hours of careful “soft” styling, gave me the best results. But I wanted to try to use a SLS-free shampoo because I thought that it would be even milder and I decided to give a chance to this shampoo. The first 3 or 4 times my hair was sort of dry and messy, even after having used the usual conditioner and I was tempted to give up and to go back to Nioxin but I guessed that I needed some more time to see the results. And in fact after almost two weeks I had the most beautiful hair, shiny and smooth like after straightening but better than that because when I straighten my hair it looks silky and smooth but somehow lifeless and without any bounce and volume. Now I just foam my hair once, then I apply the Elvive Smooth Intense or Dove Intensive Repair conditioner on the fried strands, rinse, dry with a towel and than just a bit hair dryer. That’s it! Also on the second day my hair is still beautiful, smooth and bouncy and sometimes even the third day with a little help of dry shampoo on the roots is not a problem. I think that my hair and my scalp just needed some time to get used to it and now, when I sometimes use a SLS shampoo in order to clarify from conditioner build up, my hair is not so smooth and bouncy.
I’ll keep using Elvive or Dove conditioner on the fried strands until they will be cut off and then I think I can start to use a lighter one, maybe the Avalon Biotin conditioner, or maybe this shampoo alone with a bit of serum on the ends will be enough.
The consistency is thick and it lathers well, especially at the second wash. The scent is mild and minty in a slightly medicinal way, different then the pleasant mintiness of the Nioxin shampoo but I don’t mind. I would bear almost every smell for such results! Anyway I have added few drops of tangerine essential oil and the result is very nice.
I don’t know if it has some effects on hair grow or against hair loss as it is too early to say and I actually think that no shampoo can do that. Speaking in terms of volume I think that now maybe I have some more or maybe it is just more bounce, but actually volume was not my first issue.
I really like the old fashioned pharmacy-look of the blue bottle, but a spender would be better, so I replace the cap with the spender of another product.
And last but not the least, the price is a big plus.

A pretty standard shampoo but I do like it and so I'll keep using it for now till I find anything better. It's not moisturising enough but I have noticed it voluminises my hair. I switched to this shampoo because prior to using avalon, my hair started to fall out and it had become really thin (I was using heads and shoulders before this).
It doesn't seem to wash my scalp very well as I've noticed I get a lot of dandruff when using this product, more so than with any other shampoo I've used :( I was wondering whether it takes more uses for it to cleanse properly because it needs to remove the build-up ?
A positive point is that this shampoo doesn't aggravate my face like the non-organic shampoos I have used previously. My face used to be so blotchy and red after the shower and I didn't realise it was my shampoo doing this until I started using this organic shampoo.
