This has been renamed Naturaelle Hypoallergenic Gel & it is sold at Sallys. Thumbs down. The product is like water & doesn't do a thing. I will be returning.

This is a fantastic product . I have naturally curly 4B/C type hair. This does an excellent job of setting my curls. I noticed there was some flaking so to resolve this I alway used some of my homemade oils with this product. I use about a small squirt of oil to a palm full of Gel......it works great!! After drying with my 'curly top', I look like I've stepped out of the salon. I've had no allergic reaction to the product which is a big +.

First off, I really really wanted to LOVE this. I have been trying to go cone free and this stuff is cone and protein free. It is unscented and clear, as I do not always want to smell like apples while trying to wear a classy perfume. The consistency was also nice and I could have dealt with the lack of hold it fit didnt FLAKE! I could not believe it! I am not one of those people that loads their hair with so much product that it looks wet when its dry. In fact Id rather have it be frizzy than look like that. Since I want a no cone gel, looks like its back to the cheapy brands, at least they never leave me flaky.

**This has been renamed "Naturelle" hypoallergenic gel, still available at Sally**
One of my favorite gels for curly days! The thin texture makes this gel very easy to distribute through wet curls, and it dries with medium/strong hold but very little crunch. The price is right (about $5 for 8 oz), the upright bottle is convenient to use, and since it's fragrance free it won't overpower other scents you're wearing. Every curly should have a bottle of this at all times!

I love this gel on my very thin, 3C curls. My hair still gets flyaway bits, but those are impossible to get rid of for me--this gel has come the closest. Doesnt my curls out & leaves them bouncy and shiny and healthy looking with absolutely no crunch. Will continue to repurchase this for as long as they make it.
p.s. My hair is so frizzy and "big" that I never went out with my hair curly until I discovered this gel.

It left my hair really stiff, and I couldn't even run my fingers through my hair with this stuff in it. Also, it is supposed to be fragrance free but it has a scent of lavender that I recognized that I didn't much care for.

This is my new HG gel. I really love it! It has a lighter hold which I prefer. But I like it for reducing frizz more than for actual style hold because I have long curly hair, that stays curly all day but usually gets frizzy as the day wears on. I love how shiny it makes my hair too. The botanicals are very nourishing and it holds with no crunch or flakies that I have noticed so far. This gel was rec'd to me by NC.com and it is protein and silicone free. The new ingred are in order as listed as follows:
Water, polyquaterniun4, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, arnica montana flower extract, cananga odorata (ylang ylang) flower oil, citrus aurantium bergamia (bergamont) fruit oil, germanium maculatum(geranium) oil, lavandual hybrida (lavandin) oil, urtica dioca (nettle)extract, benzophenone 4, caprylic/capric triglyceride, centrimonium chloride, citric acid, DMDM hydantoin, glycerin, hydroxyethylcellulose, laureth-23, panthenol, propylene glycol, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolione, tetrasodium EDTA

I love this gel. Used alone it makes my curls shiny, loose and natural. It doesn't add any volume- if anything it weighs my hair down and creates a non-poufy curl. I really like the fact that it is unscented because I tend to tire of scents easily, even if they're pleasant.

I've used this product for the last few years...I switched to it when they discontinued the Aura Flaxseed gel which was very similar. I love it. They've changed it again recently, when they changed the name from Aura to Naturelle. The ingredients are pretty much the same, just in a different order. I prefer the new formulation (which is a miracle, since I never like a new formulation). It's a soft easy hold, that never gets stiff or sticky. It's easy to work with and the smell is non-existent. It's perfect for fine hair of any volume. I highly recommend it for a soft, comb-able hold.

I got this as a RAOK from a lovely MUAer, but unfortunately, after testing this today, I know that I need to continue my hunt for a great hair gel. I applied it to my thick, coarse hair after toweldrying and I am at work right now, hair is dry and it's as though I didn't use any product on my hair whatsoever. Whereever did this go? It's gone. Buh-bye!

Wasn't as impressed of this as I thought. It's liquidy, making it easy to distribute throughout my hair and has loads of good ingredients that enhance the shine in my hair, but does zilch for hold. It also does nothing for humidity. My curls were left fending for themselves. This is a hit or miss product. Since I bought a full sized bottle, I just finish off with hairspray to provide the hold I need. Other than that, I won't be repurchasing.

This one of my HG gels. It's very liquidy, which makes it very easy to distribute well without using too much. I have very fine, curly hair, and this gel gives me excellent hold without weighing down my hair. Any crunch is very easy to scrunch out, leaving me with soft, natural-looking curls. It is the first gel I ever re-purchased.

I use this gel every day, after my leave-in. I have naturally curly hair and I airdry always. This gel dries soft and shiny, giving nice defined curls. Any crunchiness can easily be scrunched out. I love that it has no silicones or drying alcohols in it. I'm on my 3rd bottle.

I bought this as an alternative to DevaCurl Angell after I got a Deva-trained curly girl haircut and was taught how to work with my curls rather than fight them. I found Angell left my hair rather stiff even though it brought out and held the curl extremely well. This gel is thinner and does not leave the hair stiff, defines curl slightly, adds some shine and keeps the frizz down, though not as well as Angell. I use a nickel-sized blob, sometimes mixed with a dab of Redken Outshine, on my chin-length loose curls when they are still wet, do not comb, and use tiny clips to lift the sections around the crown as I was taught by the stylist. I then let it air-dry - this takes two hours. This gel does not hold curls very well, they do loosen after a few hours when you comb or tie your hair back, but I'd rather have that than sticky stiff hair. There is some flaking with this gel as with all curly hair products I've tried. But overall I am happy with it, especially as it is fragrance-free and does not irritate my scalp like most hair products do.

Oh wow ... how did I ever live without this?!?
After frying my hair with a flat-iron for years I finally decided to try to wear my hair 'natural'. And for those of you that are in the same boat as me you know what a disaster that can be .. 4 years of flat-ironing = frizzy clown hair!!
I tried all sorts of gels from drugstore to pricey, and eventually picked this up at Sally's for $5. The scent is so faint that it's barely discernable (a plus in my book, I don't want to smell like a rotten apple tree). It's light and watery, not sticky at all, and I wondered if it would make any difference?
After showering I lightly scrunch this into soaking wet hair. Next I do the 'headbanging' thing 3-4x and then I carefully place my curls into the positions where I want them to lie. I airdry (since I don't own a diffuser) and end up with the most beautiful shiny, FRIZZ-FREE mermaid waves!! I never thought waves like this were even a possibility for me .. I'm absolutely ecstatic, haha.
I think the trick is finding just how much of this product to use (too much = flaking/too little = frizz). Also don't manipulate/overscrunch/touch your hair while it's drying, and apply to dripping wet hair for the best results.
My only gripe is the stupid packaging .. if you open it upside down the product gushes out, and it's impossible to travel with (pops open easily/major leakage!)

I have used this gel and find that it is nothing special at all. It did nothing for my hair but give me frizz. Another product added to many others under my bathroom counter. I would definitely not repurchase this. I went out of my way to find this. The Sally's that is nearest to me did not carry it, so I went to another town to get it. Waste of time and money!

I am sorry to be the voice of dissent here, but this product made my hair frizzy. It also made the bit of curl that it made, very stiff and crunchy. I tried to use it with a couple of drops of silicon serum and that did not calm the frizziness either. Would not purchase or even talk about this again.

I have bought this over and over again, and keep atleast one as a backup! I love this gel and heard about it from sweetpeacali- this stuff is amazing with a really nice light leave-in conditioner of sorts! Gives AMAZING shine, great defintion and a very baby-soft hair! At its price it cant be beat, it may take some experimentation as what amounts work best- for me about 2-3 quarter sized puddles all over my hair and im fine :) IF YOU OVERuse this as I've done a few times yes you will get flaking and such! otherwise you'll be fine! my hg that I keep comming back to time and time again :)!

Wow, this could be an HG product for me. Read all the raves from curly-heads on the hair board, and decided to give it a try. I'm absolutely glad I did. Like most have said, this leaves a nice shine, and defines curls very well. My hair is very fine and curly and, most times, damaged and in need of a trim. But this gel makes my hair (even when it's at its worst) look healthy. I was used to buying the cheapo $1-$2 drugstore gels, but $6 for this miracle worker is definitely a good deal. I got mine from Sally's Beauty Supply.
