I love this nail polish. It's a very, very light pink just shy of being off white, and it has a drop of a grey undertone. I love it. It's very clean and classy. It's an Essie creme and it's only streaky on the first coat. Since I always expect to apply more than one coat, it doesn't bother me. Two coats is fine, but I usually do a third for complete opacity. The wear is great, about five days or so. I don't know how it dries on its own, but under Poshe, it dries in five minutes. I don't know why the reviews are so low because I love this stuff.

I honestly cannot believe that this polish has received one of the lowest ratings of all Essie shades on MakeupAlley. I absolutely love this shade; this is the perfect opaque off-white nail polish. It is NOT streaky AT ALL - it is completely opaque in two coats. I don’t know how people get streaking with this one, maybe cause they put two coats immediately. I apply one coat on all nails and then go to the first hand and do a second round, this way the polish dries a bit before that second layer, so maybe that helps. The first layer is streaky, but once you go over it with the second coat, it turns out completely and uniformly opaque. As a reference, this is like the off-white equivalent of Essie Fiji. I find Fiji a lot harder to apply than Pound Cake, but they both have that really strong opacity. I honestly did not have any problems with the application of Pound Cake, like I said, two coats are more than enough for a completely opaque look with no nail edges showing under and no streaking whatsoever. When I was first looking for an off-white polish, I originally picked up OPI Time-less Is More due to good reviews online. However, it was SO sheer, SO streaky and SO uneven in its application that I just had to give it away, I couldn’t even keep it as a sheer. Pound Cake is what I was looking for: a great, opaque off-white shade. If you like chalky-opaque polishes and are looking for an off-white shade, this is the one for you.

I bought Pound Cake last month after seeing how beautiful it looked on my cousin. She's asian though, and her skin's got more color, while I'm as white as snow. I wasn't sure if it would look good on me but surprisingly it does. As other reviewers have noted it's very opaque, almost white, and to my eye looks like it has a drop of pinky beige to it. It's not a Pepto pink at all. It doesn't make me look washed out or anything; I guess it depends on the undertone your skin has. Even though I'm pale I have a golden undertone, and Pound Cake shows up well on me. For some reason I don't like it as much on my feet, but it's become my go to color for my hands. Unless I find something I like better, I would definitely repurchase.

I bought this polish because OPI's "Get Me to the Taj on Time" had a barely noticeable amount of shimmer and I was looking for a shimmer-free, opaque, off-white polish and this one seemed to fit the bill. Pound Cake is pinkish, off-white and opaque. Yet, even though I buff my nails to avoid polish streaks, I got streaks. The brush was so small, it was difficult to apply the color. I did not have any problem with chipping, though.

i didn't get the streaky-ness other were talking about with this polish - 2 coats was perfect, good opacity and even application. 3 coats would have been better, even. the color is not what i was expecting form the bottle - it's too white for my tastes, not pink enough. i will only use this for layering under other polishes that i find too sheer, i think. i won't be repurchasing.

I didn't find this nail polish to be streaky, as some others have, but it began to chip almost immediately. Also, the color was hideous on my pale hands--almost dead white, hardly any pink at all. It is so opaque that none of the natural color from my nails showed through. My boyfriend said my hands looked "like dead people's hands." Not good. I prefer sheerer polish, and more color--it looked pale pink in the bottle, but not on my nails. Definitely wouldn't use again.

Pound cake is a nice off white with a tiny hint of pink. It's basically a great neutral polished color IMHO. While I do love the color, I did have to take a lipstick off because of the streakyness. With 3-4 coats you can't notice the streaking but any less than that it is quite obvious. Like most Essie polishes this color is quite long-lasting and chip resistant.

This is the perfect not-too-beige, not-too-pink neutral nail color. Yes, it does streak a bit and requires two to three coats. But the lasting power is great, and that third coat gives my nails a finished, clean look.

This is one very streaky yet expensive polish. However you try to get it nice and smooth, it somehow looks like crap. I even changed the brush and it still streaked.

I see that the other reviewer before me had the same problem with it. This polish is incredibly streaky. It must be this particualr color, because I have never seen such awful polish. it's impossible to make it look good. It looks pretty in the bottle like a pale white beige, but on the nails, it looks like a zebra.

I like the color, but it's sooo streaky. I had to put on 4 coats to get an even, unstreaky layer. The manicure took forever, and during the long drawn-out process, the bottle fell and splashed all over my beloved PowerBook. Ack!!! In the end, not worth the trouble it took to get a mediocre finish.

Edit: I realized I forgot to describe the color. The color's a light beige (whitish beige) with some pink in it. Very neutral.
