This begins with a sweet and fresh peppermint. Somehow, it manages to avoid any gum or toothpaste connotations. Shortly thereafter, there is a distinct citrus zest smell, maybe orange, could be lemon.Underneath, there is an herby crushed fresh leaf smell that is not unlike tea. If it could stay there, it might just merit 5 lippies, but alas, it dries down to a shower gel smell, which while not unpleasant, is more suited for cleansing the body. I like to spray this on when I need the illusion of a shower.

I definitely get the toothpaste part. It smells like someone's breath after they've used Listerine. There is a green, leafy fern-like smell underneath the dental hygenic scent. Like ferns and mouthwash... not really the way I want to smell. I can't really smell any tea notes under that. I doubt I will try this again.... I don't find it particularly natural, refreshing, or anything I want to smell like. It's kind of like when you're brushing your teeth with an electric toothbrush and some toothpaste drips in rivulets down your arms and you forgot to wash it off. Nope!
EDIT: I tried to give this some time, but in the end it was a scrubber on me.

It's surprising that I love Mentafollia, because I don't usually like greenish fragrances. Very light, fresh, sort of mint, sort of tea, it's great for feeling refreshed in the heat of the summer or a pick-me-up in winter. I've had a decant forever, but I think it's about time to pick up a full bottle, especially since it's been discontinued. A great introduction to lighter, green, clean fragrances!

I know this has been discontinued recently, which is a shame because it has become my HG in perfume. I am easily prone to headaches by different perfumes I used in the past, and this one is one of the few that doesn't do it. I love the great minty scent, fresh and still...a little floral, or honey-dew like, as I would describe it. I was never a fan of very floral scents anyways, so if you like Herba Fresca, which is somewhat compareable but not quite..you will love this one. Would definitely repurchase again, and will if I find it on Ebay.

I know this AA has been discontinued, but as its only been recently so I was able to purchase a large bottle fairly cheaply on ebay. I'm a big fan of Herba Fresca, another minty AA, so I was eager to compare the two. Why is HF still around and Mentafollia discontinued?

So here I sit with HF sprayed on my left hand and Mentafolia on my right. They are both minty, minty, minty! But whereas HF has the crisp grass and basil notes that give it a (no surprise!) herbaceous, fragrant salad-y smell, Mentafollia's mint seems very intertwined with its tea notes. In fact, on my skin this perfume might better be called Mentafollia The' (mint leaf tea) as the mint notes seem to be on equal turf with the tea notes in this composition.

Like most AAs, there isn't much evolution from top notes to dry down. The cedar is light and barely detectable (definitely not the woody presence in a composition like, say, Philosykos). Beneath the tea and mint there is the sweetness of the florals and orange but they never leap to the forefront.

This is a cooling, refreshing perfume. Like a tall, cool glass of ice tea with mint leaves on a hot summer day. It's my post-bathing perfume of choice, perfect for cooling me down after some time in a hot steamy bath or shower. I also sometimes sneak some after a workout if I'm feeling icky. Pure minty bliss!

(And OK, I still love HF, but my boyfriend gets that "soapy" note in it that I've never smelled so he far prefers this one, likening it to his all-time fave cologne, Creed's Selection Vert. And maybe it is, a little...)

Have to love the mint note. Perfect for summer and for keeping me awake especially on warm balmy nights when I'm sleep-deprived, rushing out some research paper. While I normally prefer some complexity in my perfumes, the linear citrus and mint is a pleasant surprise as I never knew Guerlain to be "fresh", "inspired by nature" and basically not old-lady like and oriental heady. Thanks to this little number, will be exploring more Aqua Allegoria's in the near future.

Toothpaste and tea. Nice and refreshing, but ultimately, it's toothpaste on me.

Bought it and thought, "toothpaste!"
I was prepared to give it away or sell it, and put it next to my desk. From time to time, I'd see the pretty box and sniff the fresh scent wafting up and then I had second thoughts (I am VERY fickle...) I put some on this past Friday, which was the first springlike day of our area, and voila--the scent came alive on me. It's the most refreshing, pretty, fresh, and also subdued scent I've worn in a good while. And, it lasts a long time. I am SO delighted with this stuff!

I think that if you are looking for some candy cane interpretation of mint, you can skip this perfume. However if you are looking for something that evokes the true mint scent from the plant, this is your scent. It even has the hint of skunkiness that a real mint has. It takes me back to my mother's mint garden, in the best way imaginable. I hate the thought that this scent is discontinued. Truly unique and lovely.

How refreshing--a spearmint perfume. I love spearmint, and it remains the dominant note throughout this fragrance. I also smell green tea and jasmine, one of my favorite teas. And the surprise finish which had me cheering? Powder. It dries to a nice powder. High marks for creativity--not for creating a "work of art" that is difficult to wear--but for creating the clearest, simplest presentation of mint in perfume imaginable. Brave--not bold. Unusual--not strange. Food for thought--olfactory, that is.

I admit it, I bought it because it was a bargin, and I felt sorry for a Guerlain being forced to rub elbows with the Curious gift sets. That said, I have never worn this out of the house and *not* gotten a compliment on it. Who knew? Men, women and children have all told me how nice I smelled. That right there was worth the price. And like all Guerlains, although it is an edt, it has some serious lasting power. Fabulous in the hot months, it's as refreshing as a glass of mint ice tea. I will be liberally spritzed with it come July and August.

I love mint fragrances and finally come across Mentafolia at TJ Maxx for a very cheap price. I was hoping from all the reviews that it would be a minty/flowery scent on me. My skin must pull out the green tea because that was very strong for about the first 30 minutes or so. It would have been a much better fragrance if the green tea note had been left out. The drydown was very fresh/floral and I kept smelling it for hours. I also bought Herba Fresca thinking it was going to be minty but YUCK-it is ALL green tea and a whisper of mint. Mentafolia is definitely better than Herba Fresca.

Ick, pure headache in a bottle. Granted I was getting a headache before I applied it but it intensified as the mint and herbal nature attacked me. It's minty for sure but the mint is dulled by the green, grassy, freshly mowed lawn, herbal nature. I can see why people would wear this in summer, but those people aren't me. Who would ever want to smell so non-descript and plain? It's almost masculine in it's flat and uninspiring headache inducing nature. Yuck!

Reminds me of a less lemony but more minty Bvlgari Green Tea. Very nice smooth and good staying power.

I just bought a giant 4.2oz bottle of this at TJ Maxx. It smells a lot like mouth wash, but something about it is addictive. The bottle is beautiful, and I like that you don't have to worry about losing the cap as there is none to remove. I'm hoping it will grow on me more, but, it is a very unique scent.

WOW -- this comes in as my second favorite Mint fragrance (my HG mint scent is Comme des Garons Sherbet Series Peppermint). AA Mentafollia is very nice and it's unisex which is what I love about it. I love sharing my fragrances with my husband who just wants to smell fresh. He doesn't care if it's a man's or a woman's as long as when he reaches for it -- it smells good. If it's on his shelf he knows it's good to go. This is one I will put on his bathroom shelf in the summmer (we'll share it on those hot humid New England dog days). Just delish. Another reviewer said it smelled like a man fresh out of the bathroom after he showered and brushed his teeth. That's the best description I read. Refreshing and clean. It's just a really nice summer scent for sure. Enjoy!

Well, I'm glad for everyone who got a good deal, but I sure didn't! I did not know this was available at Marshall's for a lower price. I bought it in Europe, just because I wanted something light for the summer. I LOVE mint. I WANT to smell like mint! In the store when I sampled this, I smelled the nice clear spearmint. But for whatever reason, when I got it home and wore it, there was only the faintest wisp of mint, for about one second. It dried down to the most boring green tea smell. I do NOT like green tea fragrances so I don't like this. All at once, it reminds me of Dove fresh touch deodorant, foot spray, and room spray. Just weird and flat and doesn't last at all. The first loser for me from Guerlain.

This is an unusual scent. Mentafollia is extremely minty on me - a refreshing, natural spearminty type of mint that somehow manages to be not at all toothpastish. Although it is a little strong on first application it soon softens and a lovely tea note emerges, together with some very light floral notes - almost imperceptible. It's light and pretty and refreshing, but I'm not sure whether I want to smell this minty! Still it's worth 3.5.

Doesn't smell like a fragrance, more like mouth-freshener, though not in a bad way. Settles into a tea scent without losing the mintyness. It's not very me, but I do like to spray this now and then when I want something completely different.

A very strange one. Never buy without trying, mint combined with fruit and flower is not for everyone. I like it for it`s unique refreshing, elegant and a bit mysterious character but I can imagine people hating it. Somehow Flower and fruit are not really at peace with the mint. That twist is very interestin but it is also irritating.
I fear this one is discontinued. I can imagine why it is maybe no bestseller. But I like it nevertheless. Because of the woods in it I would even like it on a man, though it is not masculine in charakter.
