packaging is kind of cheap but the mascara works well so it doesn't matter much. A good basic mascara that coats well and doesn't flake off during the day.

I received Stila Major Lash Mascara in a kit with some eye shadows (Seashell and Burgundy) that I purchased recently. For a high end product, it was kind of a let down. It didn't hold a curl. The packaging looked really cheap. There are drugstore brand mascaras that perform a lot better and have packaging that is more sophisticated. I also found that the eye shadows in the kit were too sheer and faded too quickly for my liking. I won't be repurchasing this mascara or the eye shadows in the kit.

Inexpensive mascara (around $8 at Beauty Brands), but does the trick. Lengthens, doesn't flake or smudge, somewhat buildable, and lasts all day with no ill effects. Nothing "special" about it - no major false-lash length or volume, no glitter or whatever - just a good, basic mascara. I like this and will repurchase.

Got this in a kit and am pleasantly surprised, adds good length and volume, do have to watch the clumping on extra coats though. Wouldnt buy on it's own but if it a kit then thats great.

I've been using this mascara for two years now. I haven't felt any need to go out and buy the latest fad in mascara because this is so amazing.
I originally got this in a limited edition gift set, and fell in love. I was so disappointed when I couldn't find it in stores. Then, this past summer, I found it in Ulta, and I almost cried with happiness. This is truly the best mascara I have ever used. It never clumps, and I always end up with long, shiny, black lashes. It's very buildable as well.

Hmm, it's funny how the reviews are all over the place on this one. I was not impressed - quite the opposite. The formula in my tube applied thickly, making my lashes clump together. However, that was not the worst thing about this mascara. I've never had such terrible flaking with a mascara before. At the end of the day, most of the product has deposited itself in dry flaky bits beneath my eyes. Horrible stuff!

Did nothing for me at all. No length or volume or separation. Can be used over another mascara if you want, and might add some definition, but nothing else.

Of all the things I love about this mascara, it's color is probably the thing I love most. Not all blacks are created equal, and Major Lash delivers a glossy coat of true, jet black to my lashes. The smallish brush means it takes a bit more time to apply, but it really gets at all the little lashes in the corners and at the edges of eyes, and that makes all the difference. I've never experienced smudging or flaking with this mascara, but it does wear off at the ends so reapplication a couple of times a day is necessary. I typically have about 5 - 10 mascaras in my makeup drawer (yes, I have a problem), and Major Lash is the one I reach for the most, particularly when I'm headed to the office.

I'm surprised about some of the less than stellar reviews on this mascara. I just went back to this product after returning the "They are real" Benefit mascara which didn't do a thing for me. The Stila Major Lash does everything the Benefit mascara did not. Gives my lashes volume, length (especially length), curl, tenacity. Among the 5 mascaras in my make-up drawer, this is my absolute favorite.

The first time I used this mascara was for my 8th grade graduation and it is NOT waterproof at all.
The price is relatively moderate. I got it for about $14 dollars.
I'm not a big fan of the packaging; all the product builds up at the top of the tube and comes spilling out. So I'm left with a bunch of mascara all over the wand and the outside of the tube.
I use this for blending false eyelashes with my natural lashes because it is easy to wash off falsies.

I got this when I purchased a Stila set from a wholesale club and I have to say I am not impressed. The formula didn't do much for my lashes and it flaked horribly. I wear contacts, so I have to be careful about which mascara I use and this one flaked and would stick to my lenses....ugh. Into the trash this goes!

I got this mascara in a Stila set from Costco. I only wore it once because I needed Waterproof mascara and this was all I had on hand. It was very wet and clumped my lashes together. Didn't add any volume, length, or curl. I wish it had been better, as I usually like most Stila products!

Overall, a pretty mediocre mascara for the price. Clinique seems to make better mascaras at a similar pricepoint.
The good: Doesn't clump. The brown is nice -- rich and dark, but not too close to black, like some brands' browns. I like the small brush, which defines my thin lashes well. I haven't experienced flaking or running.
The bad: Doesn't add much length or volume. Doesn't hold curl very well.

This is a good, basic, every-day kind of mascara. It's not dramatic in the slightest, but the price is right ($9.50), it doesn't smudge or flake and it holds a curl pretty well considering it's a non-waterproof mascara. I consider this a step above drugstore, but not quite up to playing with the big gals in the Department Store.
For a truly amazing Stila mascara, that also has an attractive price, try Major Lash's big sister Lash Visor!

I was able to try this product, because my sister gave me a Stila gift package. It came along with an eyeshadow quad, an eyeshadow blending brush, and a liquid eyeliner.
This product's okay. It's really wet, in my opinion, but it's one of those mascara's that get's a little better when it dries overtime while you use it. Mmm, it's definitely buildable because it's not one of those types of mascaras that you'll get any type of definition in one coat. Plus I had to pair it with a lengthening mascara, although I can't remember at the time which one I paired it with because it was so long ago.
Overall, would I repurchase again? No, due to the fact that I like to try different products and see what's on the market. Hope this review helps. Have a great day. (:

I got this as a part of a holiday set with four mini smudge pots and a full sized eyeshadow. I do like that this is a wet formula and it feels sort of soft when I'm applying it but it doesn't do much for my lashes. It's a nice dark black but it only volumizes a little, and it does nothing for length. I have naturally curly lashes so I can't say anything about whether or not it holds a curl well. Overall I would not buy this product again.

While I am a fan of many Stila items, this is not one. In fact, every Stila mascara I have tried has been a disappointment.
I got this in a set, I believe, and I think I may have tried it once or twice and then stopped using it. I was looking for a new mascara and so I went on the boards here on MUA and asked about what would be a good, volmuizing mascara that would work for my impossible to tame lashes. My lashes grow funny, in all directions and I really need to work at them to get them to stay in place. I also need volume and length because my lashes are wimpy again. (I need to go back to conditioning them with castor oil) Another lovely MUAer suggested I try this because she said that since it stays wet for longer that it makes it easer to work with because it doesn’t dry while you are combing through and working it in. This sounded perfect because I am a person who takes an amazingly huge amount of time just combing in my mascara, and I remembered I already had a tube of this, so I decided to give it another try.
Brush: I don’t mind that it is smaller because I have small eyes, and mongo sized brushes scare me. My problem is that it is so soft. It makes it hard to apply the product to my lashes without making a mess. It is not substantial enough to actually comb through the lashes. Why do all the stila mascara wands suck? Lash Visor had an eve more pathetic brush then this one.
Formula: Has a creamy like consistency. It not really ‘wet’ in the sense that it is liquidy, but I would still call it a wet formula because it is by no means a dry formula. I usually prefer drier formulas because they usually do a better job of building volume. The consistency is kind of weird because it is wet but still thick. It is a very, very dark black, not a gray cast like some have.
Packaging: It is just a slender silver tube. It doesn’t leak, but I don’t think the scraper part at the opening scrapes off enough product. It isn’t very interesting, either.
Results: Does not hold curl. It is very messy to apply and makes a huge mess. Because it takes to long to dry and is wet-ish, it is prone to smudging during application. It is clumpy and does not go on evenly. I tried to even it out with a clean spoolie and that only made matters worse. It didn’t really volumize much either, but it did lengthen.
Wear: I wore it all day and it did not smudge. It did, however, flake on me.
The best mascara I have found for volume that it workable and layerable like this was described to me is Benefit Bad Gal Lash. This was a huge fail for me.

I got this mascara in Black and....I am not a fan.
I do not know if this mascara has a waterproof version but I got the regular non-waterproof one and it sucks.
Reason why?:
- does not hold curl AT ALL. I'll curl my lashes and then once I put on a THIN coat of this, my lashes will droop.
HOWEVER..
- it does give nice volume. You do need a few coats to notice the volume, but it does build volume really nicely.
- it also gives some length. Doesn't give you noticeable length, but pretty good length for a volumnizing mascara.
- Separates lashes alright. This brush is the traditional mascara brush and so it separates OK, not as well as the plastic bristles though.
- even though this makes my lashes droop, I use this after a coat of Lashblast volume l(which holds my curl) and so I get really nice volume, length and still have some curl.
Despite the good things about this mascara, this is not worth the price. It retails for $22 at Sephora...and just in general I don't think any mascara is worth $22. I can easily find a better drugstore mascara that gives better volume, length, AND hold curl for less than $10.
Sorry..but the price just totally turns me off. Good product though if you have naturally curly lashes.

I love this mascara so much! I bought it on allcosmeticswholesale.com. I paid only 6 dollars for it which is pretty good since its 22 dollars orginally. The wand is small which allows you to reach every lash. The formulas is very thick and creamy so I can see why some people find it to be clumpy. I have naturally long, dark lashes so this really makes them even darker and appear thicker. I don't curl my lashes so I cannot say if its good for holding a curl. I would buy this mascara over and over again. Deff my HG mascara.

The wand is very thin and small so I prefer just to use in on my lower lashes. On my upper lashes it doesn't really do much for me. Doesn't hold a curl. Not much lengthening or volume.
