I would probably give this a 4.5 rating. It's a really complex, subtle color. I like it, it seems to bring out the green in my hazel eyes, and is flattering on my fairly light warm toned skin. It kind of reminds me of Clinique's Pink Beach, it has a similar sheen, although it is much less pink and more mauve. I really like it.

MLBB stuff definitely! I love this lipstick! I always have it in my bag and apply it even at dark. I am not a lipstick person but this just adds a subtle pink mauve sheen to my lips. Perfect for fair complexions. The classiest lipstick I've ever used - and I've used a lot, other discreet like this other fun vibrant colours.
I hope it is never discontinued!

I am officially done with NARS lipsticks. Just like Dolce Vita, I wanted so much to like this, but just came away feeling greatly underwhelmed. While Masai is admittedly a lovely, unique shade that I can best describe as perhaps a browned mauvey plum w/ a very fine silvery sheen, it just doesn't seem particularly flattering on me (41 yr-old, NW15, green eyes, dark blonde-light brown hair). This is not the reason for my disenchantment with NARS lipsticks though, as of course there are likely only a few highly flattering shades each one of us might find in a particular brand. What has most turned me off is the slightly rancid, Crayola-esque scent that seems to be characteristic of even brand new, right off the shelf tubes. Also, I'm dismayed at the rather waxy, inelegant & dehydrating formulation. These are traits I find intolerable and unacceptable in even a drugstore brand of lipstick. So why am I paying over twice as much? For sleek black rubber packaging with the chic NARS logo emblazoned on the cap? No thanks.

My skintone is often difficult to wear lipstick with, I'm fair skinned [Indian] but anything bold makes me look like I'm trying far too hard. This shade a sheer mauve, its very simple, matches everything and is great for wearing daily. Gives a good color and texture and due to dry skin I often pair it with Rosebud Salve or if in a rush, Vaseline. Wouldn't recommend it for a night of clubbing, or anything but for work etc, great.
Also I love the packaging of NARS products. :)

I'm not good at describing colors, I would say this is a pinky/brownish/mauvish color ? Love how this color looks on!! I am a brunette with hazel brown eyes, C3 complexion and this color is MLBB. Very slight taste, scent, but doesn't bother me. Expensive, but worth it. Like the other MUA'er said, this is a great lipstick to have in your bag because it pretty much goes with everything.
This is one of my favorite lipsticks!! Highly recommend!!

THIS is the colour I have looked for in my endless MLBB quest. Agree with the other reviewers who said it looks nondescript in the tube. It does. But on the lips it is mighty fine. A great lippie to keep in your handbag or car because it goes with everything as it simply enhances the natural lip colour. Doesn't dry out lips as other lippies can ( and don't you just HATE it when these imposters go on all nice and moist and lovely ...and a few hours or the next day - WHAM. Superdry cracking lips.), doesn't feather into fine lines either. Total winner. Only question....what do I do with all the other 50 + MLBB contenders who didn't quite make the cut???

NARS lipsticks are wonderful. Sheer but not too sheer, great texture, virtually no smell so it's just a matter of finding the right color and this happens to be the perfect MLBB shade for me. Judging from the other reviews, I'm not the only fair-skinned, green-eyed brunette who thinks so.

I definitely agree with other reviewers that you can't judge this one by its appearance in the tube -- I ordered this sight unseen and was a little scared when I opened it up and saw how purple and shimmery it looked (flashbacks to scary 80s frosty lilac lipstick!). But on my lips, it's a perfect MLBB mauve nude with slight peachy undertones and a subtle sheen. Gorgeous! I can see myself wearing this constantly, and the icing on the cake is that it's extremely similar to one of my long-discontinued HG lipsticks, Club Monaco Kiss.

I am very fair, have medium to dark hair and dark green/hazel eyes...this shade is fantastic with my coloring. I bought it on impulse because I was looking for a sheer mauve. I swiped it on the back of my hand and threw it in my basket. When I actually got it on my lips it was even better than I anticipated - a sheer, medium berry/mauve that makes lips look full (because of the sheer formula), and it lasts longer than most sheer formulas (several hours without eating). It doesn't feel like a lot of gunk on your lips, just very natural and moisturized. The smell is slightly crayon-esque upon application, but it fades quickly away. Big rave on this wonderful shade - will continue to purchase again and again.

I fell into the hype from the Bliss catalog that this was a 'must have' for blue/green eyed girls, while it is a pretty mauvey/pinky brown shade it was very similar to other shades that I have. While it is a pretty shade, I was not impressed by the texture, rather drying, nor the scent of this lipstick. I did not find that it lasted very long on the lips...
As this lippie was rather pricey, I would not recommend it nor do I plan to buy others from this brand.

I love love love this lipstick. I have dark brown hair w/ blond hilites, blue eyes and a pale complexion, and this lipstick adds a perfect polished color to my lips. The color is like a shimmery, bluish-pinkish-silverish YLBB. The only problem I had was that it does not last very long, but I found the perfect answer. I put a little clear Lipglass over it, and that makes the color last much longer. I have three tubes, one for my bag, one for home and one at work. Love it!!

The color is somewhere between mauve and a brownish rose. A really unique, but pretty shade. It goes on semi-sheer. Looks great with the Nars Tokyo eyeshadow duo. Next time I'm going to pair it with a shimmery lipgloss color.

This lipstick is so gorgeous! I read in a recent Bliss catalog how it was a must have for blue and green eyed girls so I thought sure, I'll try it, why not? In the tube it looks like a sort of silvery light purple, very deceiving considering once it's on my lips (which aren't very pigmented at all) it turns to a beautiful neutral rosy/mauve MLBB color. This lipstick would look great with so many different looks that I say it's a must have for a subtle lip look. Worth the hefty price tag : P

Like the previous reviewer, I got this from a Belk 50% off sale. This looked like such a pretty, neutral lip color that would look good with my NW20 skin, blonde hair, & green eyes. This is a very muted brownish, pink color with silver shimmer IMO. It really looks good with a lot of different eye makeup looks too.
My one bad thing is that the 2nd time that I tried to use it, it broke. So, now whenever I use it, the lipstick just moves all around!
NARS lipsticks are a little drying IMO, but all you need to do is add a a little clear lip gloss over them and they work great!

I decided to take advantage of a 50% off NARS sale a few months ago at Belk, and wanted a lipstick which looked like nothing else in my collection (not an easy feat, since I have more lipsticks than I know what to do with). The SA suggested this one for fall/winter, and I was skeptical when I saw it in the tube. A silvery plum? With my warm Eurasian coloring and dark eyes/hair? Did he think I was a cool blonde PPP? Hell no! But then I tried it on, and it was so, so lovely. I couldn't stop staring at myself in the mirror. It was the perfect mauvey plummy berry peachy color--not too pale or cool for me at all. Definitely unlike any of my other lipsticks (which tend to be warm reds or neutral pinks). Huge rave for this one.

Masai goes on sort of a mauvey, pinky brown colour. Its very neutral. You could wear many different eye makeup colours with this lipstick. Its also pretty sheer.

I love NARS lipsticks, and this has the great quality of all his sheers, but the color didn't work for me. It is beautiful and unique, but on my pigmented lips a single coat did not show up, and an additional coat looked gray. If you're a PPP with pale lips, though, go for it!

I love this color. I am NC35 with brown eyes and dark brown hair and this color looks nothing like Nouba, Tobago or Viva Las Vegas on me. To me it more closely resembles Damage. Lovely texture. This one has quickly become an everyday favourite.

The most recent Bliss catalog listed this as a 'must have' for blue/green eyed girls. And I must say that I agree. It looks very dark and a little too shimmery in the tube but is turns out to be a beautiful sheer brownish plum with a subtle, subtle shimmer.
