Beautiful color, rosy-beige, but I prefer something a little darker, like my fave Santa Barbara. Formula is nice, could be a smidge more moisturizing, especially considering the price! Chanel has toned down the scent in their lipsticks, thankfully, as they used to be uber-sickening in that aspect.

The review below captures the beautiful color of Yucatan perfectly. Yet the aqualumiere formula leaves a few things to be desired. It feels a little gritty, rather than smooth, which can get tiresome. The spf is nice, though.

A big thank you to the lovely MUAer who swapped this with me! I'm very happy with this lipstick :D It's a lovely brownish rosy neutral with silvery shimmer, it has a great texture, not too slippery, so it stays put, but enough slip to go on smoothly. Not too light and not too dark for my NC20-ish skintone. It gives me a lovely, understated rosy lip, one or two shades darker than my natural lip color, with enough subtle shimmer to add some dimension. Love it!

This color is a dead ringer for NARS Nouba! It's perhaps a little less brown than Nouba (which is a good thing), and the formula is WAY nicer. Nouba is dry and heavy by comparison.

This is lovely with Bobbi Brown Nude lipliner and bit of Stila Apricot lip glaze over the top :)

I like this color alot. It is a lovely neutral shade, and I love that it has adequate SPF, according to Paula Begoun, the "Cosmetics Cop". The color goes with anything. Will definitely repurchase.

UPDATE: 11/11/08 Am still loving this. I got it out today and I'm seeing more bronzy pink in it, which is lovely.

I love the versatility of this color. It seems to differ depending on what I'm wearing. It usually goes on as a bronzey nude on my NC30 skin. It's not too frosty at all. I get a ton of compliments every time I wear it!

It is very rare that I find a bronze-y lipstick both neutral and cool enough to suit my cool/neutral PPP MAC NW15 with red undertones and this is it. I got a tester from a friend who works for Chanel when the Aqualumieres were first launched and I am still working on it. Chanel lipstick testers are a good 33% thicker than the retail packaging which I love but the down-side is I can't whip it out in public without looking like a classless shoplifter who swiped a tester. When I finally finish it I will definitely purchase a new one.

I bought this lipstick based on the reviews and was not disappointed! It looks a lot darker in the tube than it does on the lips, and I have gotten MANY compliments when I wear this shade. It does have a slight tendency to dry out the lips a bit, so have a gloss or chapstick nearby. Great for a hint of color without overbearing it. I will definitely buy this shade again.

My 1st Chanel lipstick! RIS from a great gal. I'm normally a MAC or Clinique lipstick gal, but I wanted to see what all the hype was, and I'm almost maxxed out on MAC & Clinique lol. Yucatan looks like a bronzy, almost brownish shade with just a hint of pink in the tube. I almost didn't try it because I thought it would be too brown & too frosty.

Luckily I DID try it, and it's an entirely different lipstick on my lips. I have moderately pigmented lips, and this goes on more rose quartz with a hint of bronzy shimmer. There is not great display of Frost, just a pretty almost glossy-looking shimmer, just enough to keep it looking fresh. This is what I would consider my "proper occasion" lipstick - not over the top frosty, not too dark or light, very pretty, very fresh, a pretty MLBB with a hint of shimmer & interest. The shimmer gives dimension without being "FROSTY" & gaudy.

This would also be very pretty with a smoky or dramatic eye, or for a fresh-faced look with light liner & blush & this gorgeous "kiss-me" lipstick! I think my wallet is in trouble, since I'm now on a Chanel lipstick quest lol.

UPDATE: the more I wore it, the frostier & browner it got, not in a good way. I ended up swapping it...

As for santa barbara, buy this if you are asian/malaysian as its a great colour for more olive skin tones. And since its chanel you will never tire of it. Much more sophisticated than gloss.

Bought this and had to return b/c it smelled rancid. Didn't care for the color or the texture either. Love the RA's and glossimers but not these.

Yucatan is sheer bronze with just enough mauve to keep it from looking like dirt.I'm in LOVE with Aqualumiere's..The color is so natural. It's sheer but buildable.Moisturizing,Wears well with only minor touch ups needed after eating or drinking.Even for the hefty sum of $25 I think they're worth it

This is my first Chanel lipstick and now my Holy Grail lipstick as well. The color is impossible to describe - kinda frosty, plummy, beige, & golden while being sheer & neutral as well. I can see how this color would look totally different on everyone. Regardless, it's a gorgeous sophisticated color. Very moisturizing and it has SPF 15! The packing is luxury personified. A definite repurchase.

YUCATAN was my first Aqualumiere. It's a beautiful bronzey pinkish-brown in the tube and on my slightly pigmented lips shows up more of a bronzey brownish-pink. It is GORGEOUS. Love the texture of this and it is very moisturizing. I usually only like glosses but this is definitely a staple for me!

A must have in any m/u bag IMHO. This shade is a gorgeous sultry bronze-pink-mauve color that seems to be quite universal and flattering no matter what coloring one may possess. I am warm and bro/bro and I absolutely love this color on me. I can wear it with different looks and it still seems to go perfectly w/ whatever m/u I have on. I especially love it w/ Benefit Dallas on as blush. It gives a very sun-kissed look and makes the lips appear fuller. Apply annnny kind of l/g and voila! You have instant pouty sexy lips that can go from day to night in a flash! The lasting power is decent but I don't expect much from a sheer l/s. The price is nothing shocking either - it is Chanel for crying out loud! You're not buying Wet'n'Wild people!!!!

Run out and get one...you'll fall in love in an instant!

Although I don't normally wear lipstick, this is a surprising and beautiful color that looks fantastic for every occasion. I love the color, but may not buy it (I got it for free) as I'm more of a glossimer girl. On those rare occassions when I don't have my glossimer with me, I turn to this. Great color and easy to pull off any time of day.

Yucatan is a hard shade to describe...it's very complex, with hints of bronze, gold and silver,as well as mauve. It looks,on my lips, like a very cool shimmery mauvey brown. It's a very beautiful, wearable and versatile shade.Aqualumieres are my favorite lipstick line. They don't have any noticeable scent, are super-smooth (like silk on your lips, really!),and I love the added SPF 15.I wear these when tanning and my lips never burn.

WOW! I never thought I would buy a color like this, let alone like it! In the tube it looks like a frosty beige that would make one's lips look unnatural and icy in a bad way. Not so when applied...it produces a sheer wash of light color and shine with a slight shimmer. My only beef with this lippie is the staying power--it's about half an hour on me. Nonetheless, I'm in love and there's no breaking me and my Yucatan Aqualumiere apart!!

Great colour, extremely moisturising. Staying power alright. Could have come in prettier packaging though - the tube looks a bit boring.

Price: 49.00. Colour: Nice hue, very pretty. Downside: Very drying even with lip balm applied beneath this product.Update: Drying wasteful purchase, nothing seems to stop the drying effect even with origins dry lips remedy as a base.

If I could only have one lipstick for the rest of my life (God forbid!), this would be it. It's a sheer, shimmery mauvey-brown and is very YLBB on my fairly pigmented lips. A light coat makes them looked polished and juicy. A heavier coat brings out the color a little more, but it's so neutral it goes with pretty much every look. Perfect for daily wear. Moisturizing and SPF 15--it's the whole package. Expensive, but worth it since you can use this every day. A staple and a must for every lipstick wardrobe.
