My DH is currently wearing this. He wears one type of scent til its gone, then buys something different. He smells very nice in this, but our son, not so much. Its more of a mature mans scent. Scent is so different on everyone... on my hubby it smells very $$$$, not cloying and no weird citrus or aquatic scents...I find them very immature and almost feminine. So yes, this is a winner and I would have no problem if he would repurchase.

This isn't something I'd buy, but man does it smell sooo good! I just tore out a tester in Cosmo and rubbed it on my wrist and I am in cologne heaven. It's very musky and I can't really identify the notes, but it smells great on. Honestly though, it reminds me of Bod spray, the blue one..so I wouldn't waste any money on this. But Im loving it for now!

Vile, cloying, and cheap (NOT inexpensive, CHEAP).

I truly don't understand all the positive reviews and am hoping that maybe my friend simply went to town and overapplied. But this is just awful. My first boyfriend wore drugstore Jovan Musk that was nicer than this.

I love, LOVE this cologne. I bought it for my boyfriend for Father's Day because he said that it was the only cologne he ever wore, but used to buy it when he went on vacation to Europe because it was much less expensive. He said that he hadn't had it in years.

From the first spritz I was in love, but it smells even better on him. He has a naturally spicy smell and it mixes fantastic. He spritzed me one day and I enjoyed it on me too. I like some slightly more masculine perfumes, like Burberry Brit Red, though this is pushing feminine.

The best thing about it though? Sure, it's $80 at Sephora for a 4.2, but it LASTS. The other night I sniffed him when he got home after an extremely hot 10 hour work day- it was maybe 6 am and he'd applied it at 2 pm. It still smelled AMAZING. Compared to most perfume formulas? This is nothing short of sorcery.

It's got a clean, gentle mix mash of smells (mint, bergamot, lavender, orange blossom, cinnamon, vanilla, and sandalwood) that somehow come together in perfect harmony in cute sailor shaped bottle. Love it!

Weird combo of Gaultier 2's resiny, spicy incense and an aquatic men's scent. I kind of like it. It's warm with fresh notes, wants to cloy, but doesn't quite and mellows smoothly into a spicy cashmere feeling. Also reminds me a lot of Joop! and dries down to almost exactly Courtesan's cool musk. Would be WAY too easy to over-do because it's powerful. In moderation though, niiiiccce.

My boyfriend wears this as an aftershave and it smells really sexy on him. Then someone gave me a little 3.5ml sample bottle of the perfume and I started keeping it in my office bag in case I forget to wear my regular fragrance before I leave home in the morning.
Bottle opened. Perfume got everywhere. Now, phone smells of boyfriend, wallet smells of boyfriend, currency notes smell of boyfriend, pen drive smells of boyfriend, book-of-the-week smells of boyfriend and lip balm smells of boyfriend. And I'm still not sick of the scent.
It's really light, clean and male. I'd say it's great for women too. Or even handbags for that matter :)

It´s my son´s birthday today (yes, he´s born 9/11 and I was out buying lamb chops when he called me and told about the terrible news) – he has been using Jean Paul Gaultier´s «Le Male» since he was 17 and I knew he was out of it. I didn´t necessarily want to buy this but was looking for something similar. But I couldn´t find anything – there are nothing similar to this out there, it´s actually a very unique scent, much to unique for being worn of every second teenage boy as it was here in Norway 6-7 years ago (was it like this in other parts of the world too?).

It´s actually very suprising that the youngsters choose this among all the water-and unisex scents that was popular back then as it´s not a light or easy to wear scent at all, it´s a very sweet scent – a mixture of musky vanilla and mostly sweet floral notes that could ended in catastrophe, especially as a scent for men, if it wasn´t done in such a brilliant way. It´s so close to over-the-top – maybe it even IS over the top – just like Jean Paul Gaultier´s art. Like the costumes he designed for Peter Greenaway´s movie «The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover», «Le Male» is both baroque and avant garde.

I´m a lover of natural perfumes, but though I don´t get many natural notes in this, I must recognize it as a true piece of art – it´s so unique and well blended, and even the name play an important role - a less "manly" scent is hardly made for men before – it´s nothing green or citrusy or watery out-dorsey, or smokey, manly in-dorsey, still JPG has called it «The man». But it DOES smells man – the New Man, the man that are in contact with his feelings, the empathic man that are not afraid to show his feelings and even cry, the androgyne man that has developed his feminine sides, but still have the strength and will of a Man. It has both lift and depth and an incredible warmth and radiance (it´s maybe the most beautiful use of orange blossom aroma-chemical I know), and it suits an artistic man that has all that. Today my son is a young man on 23, and lucky me – he is just like that. My son´s lovely girlfriend and I did so agree: this smells just like my son, and is a scent he always should have in his closet. I´m so glad it´s not that «in» anymore (at least not here), so it can work as his signature.

This is by far, one of THE BEST mens' fragrances ever! It's one one of the most unique scents for men I've ever smelled, but it's definitely unique in a good way. Most colognes smell very similar. This is a wonderful change from the norm.

I bought this for my husband a while back, and used to wear it all the time, but he hadn't worn it recently. The other day, he put some on and OMG it smelled even better than I remembered! Definitely worth checking out if shopping for a new cologne!

I love the hint of vanilla in this fragrance, which makes it so edible and sexy, especially those last notes which linger on the skin. I think it can be used any time of the year, but I'd go very easy on it in the summer - the heat breaks it down into a sweet concoction of sweat and perfume which can be overpowering, if not sickening.

I agree with all the other reviewers that have said this is the sexiest smell on a man. It truly is. I tested some of this on my bf in the store, and it made me want to jump him then and there. Of course, he bought a bottle. It's not douche-y smelling like lots of men's collognes tend to be. For example, I associate Aqua Di Gio with Ed Hardy wearing tools. Just sayin. This to me is a sophisticated and sexy smell without being too aggressive or too "fresh."

One morning, I was curious... I tried some on myself. Just a spritz on my inner wrist. I couldn't stop smelling myself all day! I smelled great!! And not obviously "like a dude." I'd definitely say this works as a unisex fragrance as it's just a clean smell. The bf better hide this, since I want to wear it more than my perfumes.

My bf wears this occasionally, and I love it. It's masculine and a bit musky, but not overdone or vulgar. I can also detect a hint of powdery lavender, which keeps it from being too in-your-face or "cologne-y", in my opinion. I really like it; if I were a guy, I'd probably wear this all the time!
although, I can imagine it would be lethal in large doses. spray sparingly!

My ex used to wear this and I absolutely loved it. It was quite a bad relationship so I had negative associations with it for a while. Which frustrated me massively as I love the smell so much!

Eventually, this Christmas I decided to buy some for my fiance. I figured if he wore it a lot, I would start to associate it with him. And I do! Everytime I smell someone on the street wearing it, I think of my fiance, not my ex.

I can't really explain why I love this smell. It's just lovely- quite a light, casual and fresh smell. It's gorgeous.

Of course, the bottle is lovely as well.

My tip? The deodorant spray is a lot cheaper than the fragrance and all it is is the fragrance in a different package! It's not a spray at all, it is literally exactly the same as the fragrance.

I raged against this frgrance for YEARS! My first b/f wore it towards the end of our relationship and it was just a mess so obviously negative memories associated with it. i remember it being more powdery clean likw DG light Blue, but recently I tried it again and wow...The diff that time can make..it does heal all wounds! LOL

I got it for my DH because he LOVES the scent of lavender-steals my B&BW bodywash all the time and uses it on his hair and body. With the prevalent note of lavender in Le Male I figured he would love it and he does. Oddly, I like it on me as well-its a unisex scent I think, if you're a woman who can carry off stronger scents. Some men might find it too sweet but Hubby and I gave it 2 thumbs up on scent. The bottle...we both find it a little ridiculous-especially on a MAN'S dresser. he prefers sleeker bottles like Aqua d'Gio orTommy. But I'll deal with the packaging for the sake of the fragrance.

This is clearly a minority opinion here.
Absolutely too musky in an unwashed, oldfashioned, powdery way. This does nothing for me, on a man or on a woman. Don't like the bottle either, so this happens to be one of the least liked fragrances for me.
I genuinely wish I could smell the goodness some people do, to understand why this is widely liked.
