This product works. Received in Birchbox and really, really liked it. I can actually tell a difference in my skin tone and brightness. I have normal/dry, oily only in T-zone skin and I thought this may dry me out. Nope, it works great! Got my fiance (who uses a bar of soap to wash his face :-/ ) hooked on it too!

Like many others, I received this in my August Birchbox. I've used some cleansers that have stung in the past, but just for a short period after I applied the cleanser. With this cleanser, my face was stinging almost all day! My skin is on the dryer side, but not particularly sensitive. I was hoping this would help with my age spots, but couldn't bear to use it more than 1-2x.

I have been using this cleanser as part of my night time cleansing routine. I remove my makeup with a makeup remover then cleanse with kate somerville detox cleanser to get rid of any left over makuep. I then use this brightening cleanser and leave it on my skin for a few minutes while in the shower. I have sensitive acne prone skin with hyperpigmentation and acne scars. This cleanser along with other products (mario badescu glycolic toner 2%, and ole henriksen enlighten me serum) seems to have improved the texture of my skin, and lightened up my hyperpigmentation issues quite nicely. It does not sting unless you have pimples that are open. Im quite sensitive to glycolic acid in products and have had no adverse reactions using this. I think this product is really great when used in conjuction with other glycolic/salicylic acid products. It does what its supposed to do.

Was excited to try this after receiving it in my Birchbox; unfortunately, I face completely broke out on the fourth day, and this was the only item I switched up in my usual regime. Bummer :(

Im really pleased and happy with the performance of DDF products. Afters years of window shopping, i decided to give them a chance and what a pleasant surprise, cause they all good.
a) DDF salicylic acid wash, really nice cleanser leaving my skin so deep cleaned and helping with my moderate acne.
b) DDF brightening cleanser, is the BOMB! I love this product, is not targeted for acne or breakouts, but is really helping with my existing pimples, within days!! there all gone. It comes with salicylic acid as well. Overall appearance is smoother, glowing, much better! in only 5 days.
c) glycolic 10% moisturizer.. OMG!!! totally in love with this night cream. again, is not targeted for acne skin types, but is not greasy, smooths my skin, dry out pimples, and next morning you will wake up with a new glowing, rested, pretty face.. just one day and you will see a difference!!
d) DDF spf 45 moisturizer... is ok. I need something to protect my hyperpigmented cheeks (after my pregnancy) and this will do the job. A little expensive but does the job. Not greasy, moisturize and spf 45 in one steep is a plus. Other brands can be as effective as this one.

I also received this from my Birchbox subscription, and let me tell you, the difference in my skin has been DRASTIC! I have been using this cleanser for a little over a month and still am seeing improvements, and I was not expecting to like this cleanser at all since I swear by Fresh's Soy Face Cleanser. But this cleanser works wonders. My acne scars have lightened and my skin is much smoother thanks to the AHAs in this cleanser. And not only that ,but the amount of blemishes I normally have have been cut in half if not more! I can't live without this! I can understand not liking the scent because of the licorice it contains, but it's very light and not enough to bother me. I didn't like it at first either, but now I find myself enjoying it.

Like others, I got this with my Birchbox subscription. I really dislike the odor of it and it stings. The scent of it smells like it will sting! I have slightly sensitive, but not overly sensitive skin, FWIW. I wasn't able to use it long enough to have anything to say about its effectiveness.

I received this product in a subscription box and have been using it for nearly a month now. I couldn't be happier with the results I've seen while using this cleanser. I use it nightly with a Sephora cleansing brush. Since I was a preteen, I had scattered splotchy red patches on my cheeks, accompanied by slight bumps. In a couple weeks I noticed less redness and fewer bumps on my cheeks. Now, they're nearly imperceptible. I have also noticed a bit of fading on dark spots on my chin and less redness around my nose. I am still only halfway through my sample but will probably purchase a full size when it's gone.
One thing I disliked about the product at first is its black licorice smell. It wasn't overwhelming or anything, I'm just not a big fan. After using it awhile, I no longer notice it.

I've used AHA cleansers before and know that they can sting a little bit but are great with cutting face oil and reducing acne. I received this in my August Birchbox and was excited since I've used DDF products before (their sulfur mask is a dream). This cleanser actually burned me after I began using it. I mean burned. Even after I rinsed my face. When I applied moisturizer afterwards it burns. 3 days after using it my face still burns when I apply any product or cleanse (Origins Cheeks & Balance). I'm beyond miserable. Add on the extreme drying effect. I mean I love anything that cuts the oil on my face but this dried me out so bad it hurt to smile and my skin started flaking. Just horrible. I've never had sun burn on my face before but I imagine this is what it feels like. I think if I apply some aloe vera gel or something I might get some relief. Ladies proceed with caution with this product.

I received a sample in the 2012 August Birchbox. For my sensitive skin, this is a resounding "NO". For other skin types, it could be a possilibity.
If you have sensitive skin issues, beware that it is drying and a bit harsh. Until I looked at the ingredients, I had no idea about glycolic and salicyclic acids. If I had looked, I never would have used it. It's drying, stung my skin and smells horrible. I can usually handle smells but this is very medicinal.
If you have oily,non-sensitive skin, this might OK for you. Just watch out for any excessive drying.
A note to all: I expected this cleanser to be more concentrated. It took a quarter size amount to really clean my face.

I love this product! First I have to say I have combination skin, oily t-zone and dry cheeks (well dry most of the time). At first after I washed the first time that it would dry out my cheeks because it made my t-zone feel really good but it didn't. I wouldn't say it "brightened my skin" but it DID keep my t-zone non oily all day, which for me is the biggest PLUS!
In conjunction with this I use Boots toner and Boots mattifying moisturizer. Because of the moisturizer I use that could be why I didn't see a "brightening" effect. I've used this for just about a week now and I think this is going to be my new face wash! The other thing I loved about this is that you only need a pea size amount to wash your entire face! So yeah even though its $32 it would last you months if you didn't use an excessive amount!

I swapped for this a long time ago and never used it till now that im noticing brown marks on my jawline from old pimples and sun exposure im assuming. Well in my quest to brighter skin i reached for this. I liked at first it left my skin smooth but then dry and that was weird cuz i dont get dry anymore not even with black soap, well after 3 days using it only at night the skin around my nose has become dry, sensitive, and crusty!! I have not worn makeup yet but when i do this fridY i bet it will be a pain. Im gonna stop using it. I rather find a brightning mask or moisturizer there longer on skin so would do a better job than a cleaNser in my opinion.

I did not like this product, the glycolic did not help my acne, it made it worse and did no help with exfoliation. made my skin extra sensitive, i was always red. a waste of $35.switched to cerave foaming cleanser(great product).

The AHAs make my skin smooth as marble and over time do brighten and help even skin tone. I can't use this every day, more like 3x per week at night, but it's a nice wash to use to switch things up. It does smell like licorice but it's not that bad.

this didnt brighten or lighten my skin but it leaves me glowing everytime i use it ( due to the AHA in it). i read a lot of reviews that this stuff is drying but it hasnt dried me out at all but i do have oily acne prone skin. it doesnt foam much but i feel that you get your moneys worth bc the bottle is huge. also, the licorice smell is tolerable even for me although i hate licorice bc its faint and doesnt last on your skin.i like how the bottle is a clear plastic, and it comes with a cap for when youre traveling.overall, its a really good cleanser.

I love this cleanser. I have mature normal to dry skin with some loss of brightness. This cleanser is very gentle, yet it's a wash-off and my skin feels clean. Over time I did notice a brightening effect. You use a tiny amount and one bottle has lasted me a long time. It has a permanent spot in my cleanser rotation.

The only reason I would not repurchase is because you do get a lot of product and you only need a little bit each time you wash your face. Even though I have oily skin, I find it drying and causes my skin to flake, so I used to use it once a day or every other day. I originally bought it for evening out my skin tone b/c I had very rough skin, as well as acne and post acne scars. I also had redness in some areas, so I wanted a cleanser that could improve the texture and even out my complexion, as well as keep pimples at bay.
It does make your skin feel squeaky clean and really does brighten so you look more awake and refreshed. I used it for quite some time and did see improvements, but it didn't even out my skin tone as much or as quick as I had hoped. I do use it every now and then when I feel like my face looks dull or rough, but moisturizing is a MUST with this cleanser! Also your skin will be more sensitive to the sun so using SPF is highly recommended. I think this cleanser works, but not alone... it needs to be used in conjunction with other products which would speed up the process of renewing skin, fading scars and evening out skin tone.

Cost me 43 canadian dollars for 250 ml.
First off, a little goes a long way. I was given a small sample of this and it lasted me over three weeks.
I have normal to dry skin.
Concerning acne, I believe this is the product that has kept all of my acne away! I'm so so so pleased. I had quite mild acne..around 4/5 pimples. And i haven't had any for a really long time! including that time of the month.
I've also gotten a lot of compliments. "Your skin is so soft! Its glowing! I was also born with darkness around my mouth, now gone. The tiny little brown spots i had from old pimples, gone. I get AMAZING results from this. It is the only thing I use in my skincare to sort of improve my skin and it works like an absolute dreaam! Amazing amazing amazing. I now know what it's like to have soft glowing perfect skin.
Alittle bit of a con is that it mightbe a bit harsh or some people. I use it only at night. I avoid my eye area. But this hasn't aggravated any of the rashes under my eye and forehead (always get this around winter) and i have normal to dry skin. I believe this would work for EVERYONE. this cannot come more reccomended from me. Worth every penny.

This is a pretty good cleanser and gets rid of all grime without being too drying. This has no brightening action since the acids are not on the face for long enough but it does help dislodge dirt. It foams the right amount and is easy to wash off. I do however find this really inconvenient to use due to a lack of a pump. Its a press down nozzle which I then have to squeeze out, and when i do so I get water everywhere since I have already wet my face. For the price, I dont expect physical inconveniences to get in the way. This is a typical example of how packaging can deter customers and due to this I wont repurchase. This is good but not that good for me to put up with the bad packaging every time. I dont see how it cant come with a pump in the box and if it did, I would buy again.

I love this cleanser! I was worried that it might make my face too dry based on the reviews but I must have really tough skin because this cleanser just gives me a nice clean and soft feel. I even use the DDF 10% glycolic acid toner after and my skin doesn't feel like it's burning or being overly dried out. I have light skin that tends to scar when I get a breakout. Despite the fact that I've tamed my breakouts, my skin still looked dull because of old scars and some small sun spots. This cleanser really helped brighten my face in only a couple of weeks of using it just at night with my Clarisonic. I decided to write this review today because I was at Sephora today after I worked out with no makeup on and a sales clerk asked me how I got my skin so perfect and glowing. I felt like I noticed a difference in my own skin, but after having others comment on it, I know this cleanser must really work!
