Cute packaging, deliciously creamy smooth formula. It glides on really well without sinking into lip lines. It is absolutely fragrance free. The pigmentation is really good too, only a little is needed to look good. An excellent buy!

I discovered Clinique lipsticks thanks to some GWPs for my sister's 3-step skincare. Before I never paid too much attention to Clinique makeup, it just seemed kind of clinical looking (with the green & silver packaging) and not all that interesting or high quality. I owned predominantly Chanel, MAC & Guerlain lipsticks, along with a few Revlon ones from the drugstore. The Clinique formula really wowed me from the moment I put it on - it applied smoothly and with rich color, without tugging or patchiness. It really applied like something more expensive, and I was sold - it didn't dry my lips like some MAC lipsticks, or had a weird waxy/lipstick-y taste like some other brands. Overall the following is what impressed me the most:

The formula - decently moist & has a good amount of slip to it, applied easily and was moisturizing (I did not feel the need for balm unless it wore off). LL lipstick did not accentuate flakes or lines in my lips. It was not the longest lasting lipstick out there, but for something so creamy, it lasted for an impressive amount of time (I applied in the morning before work, and reapplied after lunch - I had 2 cups of coffee, some fruit, and my lunch, along with a lot of water). It was also COMPLETELY taste- and fragrance-free, suitable even for those who hate scented lip products. I have not seen this lipstick cause problems for anyone either; no weird rashes or swelling of the lips, which is a plus.

The color range - although the core shades can be dubbed as "kind of boring," i.e. a lot of MLBB/natural shades, the shade selection is often flattering across a wide range of skin tones & ethnicities. There is also a little something for everyone - MLBB/naturals, pinks, corals, browns/bronze/gold/tawnies, purples/plums/currants/wines, reds, and a few vampy shades - in both creamy & shimmery finishes. I could probably list at least 5 or 6 that I enjoyed wearing and most people will probably at least find one shade they love.

The packaging - the GWP packaging kind of looks cheap & clinical (green plastic with silver band), but the standard packaging is sleek, compact, classy and surprisingly hefty. I love the "metal" design, and the cases didn't discolor or look too banged up with repeated use. The caps never came loose nor did the packaging ever die on me. It's not a Rouge G or Rouge Coco but for under $20 CDN, I didn't expect much and the casing is surprisingly high-end for a mid-range lipstick.

The price point - with drugstore lipsticks getting more and more expensive, I don't think this is particularly expensive, at under $20 CDN. With a widely nuanced, beautiful color range and excellent quality, this lipstick certainly is a great value.

That being said, although this is an all-around great lip formula, there were a couple things that annoyed me that I have deducted 1 lippy off the total for. First off, since the lipstick was so soft, sometimes the bullet "tilts" to one side and gets scraped up on the sides of the container, or breaks off entirely (happened only once though). Secondly, some shades do bleed and feather a little, so it may need a lip liner to go with it. All in all, though, I still consider this a great line of lipsticks, suitable for working professionals (due to the wide range of office-appropriate shades available) as well as younger women (due to the range that offers a great way to experiment with reds, vampy colors, bright pinks/corals without aging).

For your reference, I am NW20/NC15-20 ish with black hair and brown eyes, and I love: All Heart, Paprika, Golden Brandy, Beauty and Ginger Flower

It's awesome, moisturizing, I love the plums, burgandy, glam reds, and wines, it lasts longer as the nude shades wear off in a half an hour or an hour. This is very hypoallergenic from Clinique company and it doesn't stain your lips. I rate this top quality of thetop 5 makeup brands in history

I've had these lipsticks for a while (thank you GWP's!) but I've only really been testing lipsticks out recently, so I now have a standard for comparison.

Texture-wise, this lipstick is amazing - I've been wearing the shade Beauty, a slightly darker and pinker MLBB shade (I'm NC25) all day. The texture is truly like butter - soft and smooth, with a ton of slip. However, it is exactly that slip that makes it problematic. I have normal to dry skin and I feel like the lipstick is prone to melt right off of my lips - I'm wary of even smacking my lips too vigorously, lest the lipstick travel outside my natural lipline.

The upside is that this lipstick is actually quite moisturizing, and can definitely replace a lip balm or glass for that purpose in a pinch.

Overall, if you're looking for a lipstick that is comfortable, wearable, and comes in many great shades, Clinique's Long Last Soft Shine Lipstick is a great bet. But if long wear is the name of the game, you'd best look elsewhere.

These are great! I have Beauty and Honeynut. Beauty is a warm medium pink with gold shimmer. Honeynut is a shimmery bronze MLBB shade. I love the shimmer in these shades, the way they glide on, stay on, and feel great.

I love this odorless lipstick. The only downside is it doesn't stay on long. I will keep buying though.

This has become my regular lip colour, I Love it soo much! I have it in the colour "soft bloom" which is like a dusty pink colour. It feels so nice on my lips and unlike a lot of longlasting lip colours, it does not dry them out, I actually found it moisturising. It lasts for a long time, I had it one for a good 6hours without it fading, though some of the creamy texture wore away, the colour was still there though.
I will deffinatly buy it again once I run out, it's very nice. :)

I love this lipstick!!! It is absolutely the best. It has no odor or taste when you apply it and it lasts for a long time without gomming up in the corner of your mouth.

UPDATE Dec 2009: As a sensitive skinned person, I've had to throw away any products with petrochemicals in them

I'm a fair-skinned redhead so I can wear yellow-reds not blue-reds. This is a perfect bright red for daytime or nighttime. It's long wearing and looks great with the quickliner in deep red. Redheads should have this in their arsenal at all times IMHO

I have this as a GWP in Honeynut. I agree with the other poster who like it for a summer unmade-up look. I'm using liners with some color since I'm so fair but even with no liner, it looks good. Does not dry my lips, like the soft shimmer.

I just bought this in a new colour, twilight nude. I love the colour and texture though I wouldn't exactly say it's long lasting. Just feels and looks lovely.

I have this in Honeynut. This is a beigy-nude, slight shimmer. The texture is creamy and the color is relatively sheer. I wear it with a nude pencil and it is a great "not made-up" look. One of my favorite lipsticks. No scent, feels great on lips.

I got this product via so many GWP promos! But my most favourite colour is Violet Berry. The colours look so intimidating in the packaging, like they'd either be too dark or too light, but once you try them on they usually wear very nicely. Many colours are universally flattering and I think that Clinique gets the colour balance on their lipsticks just right. I have yellow-toned Asian skin and I never thought I would like violet lipstick, but it's truly my favourite!

I have to admit that I love this product so much and the only reason why I have subtracted one lippie is because I usually have to wear balm underneath it (but I do that with all lipsticks, so... yeah). The wear of this lipstick is so light, tasteless, odorless, and lasts through half of my work day without a touch up! It usually dies out once I hit lunch, so I have never really tested how long this lipstick can go for. Fantastic product, you can wear it sheer or layer it on for a really dramatic look. It comes in so many great shades, go out and try one! Will most definitely repurchase.

The SA tried this on me today in shade "FA" (?) I asked if it had a name and she said no only known as LLFA.

It does last and is a lovely colour, BUT its too drying for me.

I would buy it again for the great colour but need a good balm on standby (I use green people's no scent spf 8 one).

I love Clinique lipsticks. No scent, taste, great colors, and are long-lasting. I like the Long Last Soft Shine formula a lot as the lipsticks are very moisturizing, yet wear very well. My favorites are Blushing Nude, Sugared Maple, Honeynut, and Creamy Nude.

I am reviewing Clinique Soft Shine Lipstick in shade Rubelitte. Absolutely gorgeous and unique, this shade is a curious blend of reds and pinks with subtle shimmer. What makes this *red* lipstick a standout is a blending of warm, cool, deep, blue, orange bases. I think it would work on many skintones. On my ppp/cool skin it just lights up leaving little need for much else when in a hurry (well, I would still enhance my brows :P). Consistancy is not bad but I don't want my l/s's to 'last' as the result is dry, chapped lips. I do not read much about this shade and think it is highly under rated. My HG and will repurchase.

I purchased this in Silvery Moon and I love it! I have been wearing glosses for the past several years, and while I like the sheerness of a gloss, wanted to get away from the 'gloppyness' that usually acompanies a gloss. So after reading several lipstick reviews here, I thought I'd try a Clinique lipstick. I'm glad I did! This glides on smoothly and colors the lips nicely without being too heavy or lipstick-y. The color is a beautifull mauve pink shimmer--but not too shimmery. I wear this all the time now, whether I'm going for a made-up look or a natural look. In fact, since I've gotten it a month ago, it's the only shade I've worn. It looks really nice when I use my self-tanner and my skin tone is medium, or when I'm not and my skin tone is very light. (Did I mention that I LOVE this stuff?!) A couple of coats of Sally Hanson's Hard as Nails in Violet Sparks, is as close a match to it you can find and last all week! Highly recomend.

This review is for the shade "Pink Peach" . Making a long story short: this lipstick is all Chanel's "Muse" should have been. It's one of the prettiest and most flattering shades I ever found for my NW20 skin. The shade is very well described through its name. Not too dark, not too light, great staying power without the drying feel of a matte lisptick. I applied it early in the morning and can still see it 6 hours later, even if not with the same shine. It is so good that I had to go back to the store and buy Golden Coral. Pink Peach is great for everyday use but also dressy enough for special occasions.

i already finished a couple of tubes of this since i was in high school. i love the colors (i had a couple of tenderhearts before, now i have this in blushing nude), suited me well, but i hate how this dries out my lips. i just realized this like 3 years ago when i was in search for my HG lipstick. i'd switch to different brands every now and then like crazy and everytime i use this lipstick, it would dry out my lips again till i concluded that this really is the culprit. this is just not for me. the glosswear is good for me, but not this. dior addict and estee pure color crystals are better for me, never dried out my lips :) oh and one last thing, the packaging sucks, after a year, the metal case tarnishes....

i bought this in 08 Golden Brandy.
PROS: I LOVE THIS LIPSTICK! the texture is very creamy, soft and moistrising. at first i expected something such 'gentle' texture like this would slip off really easily but it didn't! it even survied lunchtime with a pleasing stain. usually after lunch lipstick is pretty much gone except for th ring of red around the lipline, but definetly not this one! also the coulour was really rich and it gave off a nice satin sheen.
the colour range is also really good, made up prettyful shades that might not look all that tantalising in the tube but will prove to be gorgeous on actual lip.
oh yes, and for a department store brand such as clinique, this lipstick is also DIRT CHEAP!
CONS: so far, so good.
OVERALL: well, what more could i say? =)
