I finally fell for the Sonia Kashuk crap, after managing to avoid her line all these years!

The lipsticks were garbage, slippery, gooey messes in a cheap container with quite possibly the worst lip utensil I've ever used. If I could give this set a negative rating, I would.

This went back to Target one day after purchasing.

I like the colors this palette offers. The colors are beautiful and blend easily. It doesn't feel too sticky on my lips and looks great! However, if you're looking for something that will last throughout the day, this product won't do it. I often notice that after eating breakfast or drinking something, I'll need to reapply over and over again.

....am wondering now, after reading on through more of these posts if the ones I bought were factory flaws or what. Other posts here talk about "good" pigment colors....that was NOT my experience with this product at all; see my post below for details. However, I did want to repost regarding the lip brush since many posts here have criticized the SK lipbrush in the palette. Yes, the lipbrush included in the palette is awful, but what I wanted to point out is that the separate purchase stand-alone SK lipbrush, around $7, if FABULOUS....best lipbrush I have ever used. SK has done themselves a grave dis-service by marketing such an inferior lip palette in their lip palette sets because many customers will logically assume the brush is a mini travel version and comparable quality of their fullsize brush---NOT SO. They are NOTHING alike. The fullsize SK lipbrush is a GREAT lipbrush...provides a very defined lipline, almost like a pencil, and at the same time provides a full application brush blendability. The only drawback for me is that it is not retractable, but many lipbrushes are not. I have since bought 3 SK lipbrushes; one for makeup table, one for purse and one for travel bag. The price, at around $7, is phenomenal. and even at 3 brushes I have still paid less than I would have paid for 1 high-end line brush, and by most accounts the SK lipbrush is superior to most highend lines. I was compelled to try the SK lipbrush after reading about it on MUA, although the raves on it surfaced through interwoven comments as part of a thread not labeled the SK Lipbrush so now I can't find it again. It seems that the MUA search feature only finds words stated in the subject title and not in the actual post text....too bad as that expanded search feature could be VERY useful to find things only mentioned in other posts and not a post subject itself. I relatively unfamiliar with technology features so maybe there is something I don't know about the site search features:(

Bottom line description for me is that this is a chapstic-like palette trying to masquerade as a color palette. I purchased both color palettes, and both were extremely disappointing. I returned them for a refund. While the colors in the palettes appear to look beautiful, they did not apply that way. My expectation was that it would at least apply and somewhat look like the colors in the palettes; it did not. My specific experience was that while the colors appear to be distinctively different from one another in the palettes, they actually applied with very little discernible color distinction. On me, it all pretty much looked the same. And, I am a PPP where colors always show up on me, sometimes with even greater intensity. The texture felt very waxy, felt more like a satiny-waxy chapstick applied with a brush and with VERY minimal pigment---even beyond a translucent type look. I like pigmented translucent sheers; that is NOT this. To me, it seems that this product is just sooooooo waxy that it is incapable of having very much actual pigment color. I would definitely not repurchase or recommend this product. For a chapstick feel and look, well chapstick is far cheaper, sorry. In fact, Bonne Belle Dr. Pepper chapstick like tube, which I LOVE, is FAR superior in color and texture and less expensive at less than $2!

Contains great colors and textures -- the sort of colors you reach for time and time again. There are shades for evening, work, picnics, weddings and shopping days. The vanilla flavored gloss is rather white. The cover doubles as a mirror. Travels exceedingly well.

I honestly don't see what all the hype is about when it comes to this lip palette. In the one I bought, the lip balm ran out way faster than the actual colors because you have to keep reapplying it constantly. Also, the colors didn't last very long on my lips so I was constantly reapplying them as well. The single brush you get in this palette turns nasty after about a week, so you can count on buying another brush to replace it. I would definitely not buy this product again and would encourage others to go for a higher end lip palette instead of wasting their money on this cheap imitation.

I recently bought this palette at TARGET and I must say, so far, so good. I love the packaging a lot. It comes in a little case, filled with fantastic neutral shades, a mirror and mini lip brush all in one. Very convenient and the colors are wonderful.

I bought this on clearance for $3. I love the lip balm, but the colors could be better. None of the colors were especially stunning. Not too thrilled in general, but it was very cheap so I didn't lose out too much.

I love SK's palletes, overall, but this one was too brown for me, and at $14.99 at Target, too expensive for so little product. If you like this pallette, buy it off ebay for $5.00. I do love the gorgeous packaging, though, although the lip brush needs to be more tapered.

I really like the packaging of this product and the nice, big mirror inside. The compact is very sturdy feeling and sleek, perfect for carrying in my purse. The gloss that comes with it has a nice texture albeit a little greasy-feeling. For some reason, I feel the urge to wipe it off as soon as I put it on. I didn't however, like the colors. They just don't look good with my skin tone, too purple-ish. I would probably purchase this product again in a different color.

I like this, but not enough to repurchase. There are better lip palletes out there for similar prices, especially for the holidays. The lipstick itself is creamy but still very pigmented. It smears a bit on me, so I'm always cleaning up my mouth area with powder. I don't like to blend my palletes, but I usually have to with this because the colors alone don't flatter me, excepting the nude shade. I wear that one a lot with either sheer-pink or sheer-nude gloss over it, but I haven't been able to find a corresponding full-size lipstick in her line. The "balm" is actually a very gooey, very shiny colorless lipgloss that I like fine, but its very messy and must be applied lightly to avoid gross, wet-looking lips. Oh, and the brush works but isn't fantastic. It sheds a little after a while and must be thoroughly wiped off after each use to avoid unwanted mixing of colors.

Not only would I repurchase, I instantly bought two! Use your own brush though, and fill up the empty space with more gloss! The same as the red palette, though, where I can only use four of the shades (I bought two and discarded the shades I don't like, putting them all in one).

This is a fantastic palette of 10 colors, only one of which I don't think I'll be able to wear. I've had a hard time finding darker neutrals that look good and at least 3 of the colors in here fit the bill. For those alone, it would be worth the $5 I paid for this palette, but then there's lots of other pretty colors too. Love it!

Thanks to all the other reviews here I got this today and I love it! I also think that the brush has improved because based on the problems here I "tested" it for shedding first, and it was fine...not perfect but for these colors, I would get it with no brush!
I have fair skin, and red hair so the red doesn't look "great", but all of the others are wonderful, and mixing helps you come up w/ a color that "works".

I bought this product on a whim while I was browsing through the makeup section at Target. The colors looked great--really natural and wearable for a wide range of skin tones--and since I knew Sonia Kashuk was a makeup artist, I wanted to try some of her stuff because m/u lines done by artists are generally of better quality and/or are very up to date, color-wise.

I was not disappointed. The lipstick itself has no discernable taste/scent. The gloss has a lightly sweet scent, sort of vanilla-y or cake-y, that doesn't sticks around just long enough to be fun and not so long that it starts to get on your nerves. Even my friend, who usually hates flavored anything--lip balms, lipsticks--really liked the flavor of the gloss. The gloss definitely adds a smoothability to the texture of the lipstick, which I personally think is a little too "budge-proof" for its own good. Without the gloss, the lipstick definitely sticks to the first part of your lip that it touches, and doesn't move much after that. If you're looking for a lipstick that you can smoothly smear around your lips, you'll have to mix a bit of the gloss into the lipstick, either by putting it on top or by layering a regular chapstick underneath it. However, this probably means that, if left to its own devices rather than adding the lip gloss, the lipstick would be one of those longer-wearing formulas. (My only complaint is that once it's been glossed, the lipstick feels like one good swipe with a napkin would wipe it off.) Also, the lipstick alone has a good subtle sheen--like smooth, freshly moisturized lips rather than heavily glopped on gloss. The lip gloss makes everything feel smoother and more emollient and manages to add a light shine without looking as if you applied a separate gloss. It also seems to make the lipstick a bit less dramatic, so if you like using darker colors but don't feel that they're appropriate for daywear, this gloss is a good topper to give darker colors more subtlety.

I find the brush included in this palette to be better than other "comes-with-set" lip brushes I've seen, but it's definitely not great. It's too soft to spread the product very effectively and it doesn't come to a point, which means you don't have the option of using it to outline the lips for a more defined shape, and also that it can be a bit hard to fill in thin lips since the bristles are so swishy. Also, the product seems to get trapped between the bristles rather than get spread onto the lips: when I clean my brush after applying the lipstick to my lips, it seems like more comes off on the tissue than on my mouth. To really get the product out of the brush, I have to pinch it between my fingers and the tissue and pull the brush through, squeezing the lipstick out. Obviously, this is not how you'd apply it to your lips! =) If you don't mind getting your finger a bit mucky, I'd recommend using that instead of the brush, especially because the heat from your finger will melt the lipstick a bit, making it easier to spread. (Or you could use a different, separate lip brush, but for compact-ness sake, a separate brush is just one more thing to tote around).

The packaging is a slim, sleek, chrome-looking rectangle that is around 4" long by 3" tall. The lid (with a mirror inside) snaps shut very tightly and doesn't manage to pry itself open when shuffled around with everything else in your purse.

This is definitely something that I am going to tell my friend about, who has been wanting a decent lip palette for over a year without spending around $30 for. At half that price, you get a great selection of colors, and a yummily subtle gloss, sleek and sensible packaging, and a lipstick formula that stays put but won't dry out your lips. How can you beat that? =)

I wish the Sonia Kashuk line was available in Canada. I got this palette along with the red version from a wonderful swapper and I am hooked. Echoing what others have said, the lipbrush that comes with the Neutrals is horrible - it leaves little hairs in the palette, so do yourself a favour and use your own lip brush. Some of the lighter neutrals didn't really show up on my pigmented lips but they are nice for mixing/toning down the darker colours. There is a great mix of shades (some with shimmer) from peach to browns to a pretty red.

Edit 6/11/05: Most of the colours are too dark and dry for me who had pigmented berry lips and NC20-25 skin. Deducted one point.

Lovely colors to mix and match. I normally hate pulling out palettes and fiddling when I'm in a rush, but this one is worth it. My only gripe is the flimsy brush.

I was so suprised when I saw these lip palettes at Target. The nuetrals are all great colors, goes well even with my fair skin. Very affordable, 10$ and I liked that it had a mix of lipsticks and glosses. Super creamy and I love the clear gloss, it sets the lips and makes them super shiny. Great product!
