This light, moisturizing fluid has become a cosmetic staple of mine. It was first recommended to me by a friend who had used it as a great base to foundation or face make-up. I gave it a try and have been using it ever since. It's really light, as the name suggests and has a matte finish. Since i currently don't use primer i use this instead as a base for my make-up. It's also light enough to use as a lotion before bed, when my face isn't very dry.

I'm currently on my second bottle of this. My skin, particularly my nose and chin, is very oily. This moisturizer melts into my skin leaving it very soft. It serves as a great base for make-up as well. The bottle is big and lasted me about 6 months with regular use.

I really like this product as a base under my makeup. As a moisturizer, it could definitely be more moisturizing but as a makeup primer, it's excellent as it's lightweight and provides enough moisture to prevent my makeup from looking cakey. For serious hydration for my skin I use Nivea Creme. If this product had spf in it and was slightly more hydrating, it'd be perfect. I've been using it for two weeks and so far no break outs and I have seriously sensitive skin.

Sadly, this did not work out for me. I have been trying to find a good moisturizer and I still haven't. I tried the multi-defense one but it made me very oily and I broke out. I tried this one and I was super oily but the Marcelle lady I talked to told me that I should use it for a week at least so my face can get us to it and adjust. Well, I've use it for 2 days straight and first day I was REALLY oily and 2nd day, I was least oily BUTTTTTT I have pimples all over my face now.... I know this is the culprit because I put it on my chin and I didn't put anything else there. Gosh. Time to return it. It's about 17$ CDN at Shoppers Drug Mart. I found the multi-defense with spf at Walmart for about $13 but they didn't seem to have the aqua-matte moisturizer. OH WELL! The package quality is 5 lippies though. Theres a twist lid where it locks and unlocks. You only really need 1/2 a pump for the face. Oh the marcelle lady told me that they're coming out with new skincare line so if you found a product you like at marcelle, you should email them because I love their aquarelle purifying cleanser and thats being discontinued in a couple of months.

I purchased this product for my oily yet dehydrated skin. I found it fairly inexpensive (~$17CAN at Shoppers Drug Mart for 4 fl oz.) and it comes in a simple, hygienic pump dispenser. It is very light and goes on very smooth. There is almost no smell, but when I do notice the smell, it reminds me of glue. It's nothing intolerable though.
I found that it did not do much for the dehydration. I believe it's not really intended for dehydrated skin, but intended as a light moisturizer for oily skin. I think I was misled with the "Hydrating" in the name. On that note, I'm going to need a different product to battle the dehydration.
As a light moisturizer for my oily skin, I found that it helped keep my t-zone matte longer. This would especially be good for the summer. It also feels nice to apply this on my face before applying my Shiseido sunscreen. I'm going to try this out a little longer because it does seem to help control the oil, but sometimes it makes my face feel a bit too dry. I will update this further.

If you have very oily skin and feel you cannot tolerate any moisturizer, this is probably the one for you. Very runny consistency, non-comedogenic, non-acnegenic, comes in a hygenic pump container and is very reasonably priced. I relied on this in my early 20's when battling acne and it provided needed hydration without oil and did not aggravate my acne.

Great for oily skin - I use this almost exclusively during the summer months (not nearly enough moisturizing effect during the other seasons). It has a unique liquid quality to it (somewhat like DDML- but even less so), no fragrance, and simple packaging. One bottle is enough for the summer months for me. And unlike the others here, it did NOT break me out (and I have extremely acne prone skin - even olay sensitive lotion & cetaphil lotion breaks me out once-in-awhile). But I really REALLY wouldn't suggest it for combination-dry skin types - I think only oily skin types would benefit the most from this amazing product.

After reading the reviews on the website I was happy that I had finally found a moisturizer that would keep oil at bay. Unfortunately this was not the product! I found that it did absolutely nothing to make my face less oily and I am really disappointed in this product. I don't mind the feel of it and it's easy to put on and stuff but it just doesn't do what it was supposed to do for me. It seems to work for other people but, I guess not for me! =(

I really wanted to luv this as i luved the marcelle moisture lotion...but now its 50/50...
made my skin tight too like the other MUAer sad...and i broke out...the red bumps that are wayy underneath the skin and hard to get rid of...i think cus its too "oil free" i actually have no problems using other moisturizers with a lil oil even if its mineral:P...but voila since i like to "experiment" so much w/ skin care i mixed a lil bit of jojoboa oil into it and thus its not oil free anymore...but ya my skin feels much plump and soft now so i guess i can use up the rest of the bottle:)...will update on my lil experiment after

Would you buy this product again?: Maybe, but for MUA I said "no".
I don't think this moisturizer makes your skin "matte", as it claims, and I found the consistency a bit weird - it's very liquidy. If I put a little bit on, then my skin is fine, but on the dry side. If I put more, I find that it actually breaks me out a bit. I don't know why. Not exactly zits, but weird bumps under my skin. I can't seem to find an inbetween, either. Also, I found it gave off this weird sour smell after a while. It fades quickly, and though it's not pleasant, I don't think it's a bad thing. I'd still take that over adding irritating fragrances (coughLaRochePosaycough).....
I know this works well for a lot of people, and I can see why. I just don't think this is right for my combo skin. So, while still a good product, I probably won't buy it again.
My HG search goes on!

Horrible for combination skin - it made my face feel tight, like I didn't even moisturize. I can only see this as beneficial for those with more oily skin.

Well I thought I had oily skin until I tried this product but now I'm not so sure. It provided absolutely NO MOISTURE to my skin and made it feel tighter than if I had used none at all. Ill give it props that it does help you stay matte (my nose is normally an oil slick by afternoon) but it made my skin feel so tight that by the second say using it I ended up using my night cream to apply over it! Those with combo skin beware!

This makes my skin so soft, sinks in right away, and it feels like I have nothing on my face.
I have oily skin and it did really keep my face matte for longer than any other moisturizer I've tried.
I think this will remain my HG moisturizer for some years. Once I'm close to reaching my 30's I'll start looking for the perfect more superior department store moistuirzer.

I love this product. I have combo skin. My skin is fairly dehydrated (I didn't use facial moisturizers until my early 20s), but am also oily in my t-zones.
I was recommended this product by the cosmetician at the local drug store, when I finally decided that I should be using a moisturizer (doh!). I've since then tried other moisturizers and nothing compares to this Marcelle product.
I've repurchased this bottle twice (the bottle lasts a long time), and won't be straying again, as I am now convinced I won't find any better.
The lotion goes on real nice, and absorbs quickly. I've seen some reviews complain about the smell, my bottles had no smell at all. The pump works ok and locks for travel.

I have been searching for a simple moisturiser that would not break me out, for so long, and I think Ive finally found it.
My skin has never looked this horrible due to stress and started getting acne everywhere on jawline and bigger pores on cheeks, maybe other products i was using was the cause, I really dont know...All I know is that I am on Stievamycin (Type of Retin-A rx), and my skin has been so dry and flaky...At first I wouldnt put moisturiser because I was scared it would make my acne worse. The doctor suggested I try Neutrogena moisture for combo skin, but it broke me out...I was so discouraged...I finally remembered that I had bought a Marcelle cream a couple of months ago but never used it because I was scared to put anything on my face. Well Im happy I gave it a try.
PROS: I love the packaging
Oil-Free, Alcohol Free, Fragrance Free
Does not break you out, did not aggravate acne
My forehead isnt shiny like it used to be
CONS:Id say it doesnt fully get rid of the flakiness due to Retin-A, it is obviously a moisturiser for combo/oily skin only. Im sure it will be perfect for summer though.
The smell, it is fragrance free, but like the previous reviewer mentionned, It smells funny, I find it smells like plastic hehe. But I really dont mind it because it is a great moisturiser and will keep on using it
I wouldnt say that i saw improvement in skin texture or pores or anything, but I definetaly am no breaking out as much as i used to with this cream.
If you are looking for a basic moisturiser that will not break you out, Please give this a try. I also like their Aquarelle cleanser.
EDIT MARCH 16 2008: I AM STILL LOVING THIS! THIS BASIC MOISTURISER SAVED MY SKIN! I STOPPED USING RETIN-A FOR ACNE SINCE IT WAS LEAVING ME WITH RED MARKS, AND THIS IS MAKING THEM GO AWAY!! I HAVENT HAD A NEW PIMPLE SINCE IVE BEEN USING THIS MOISTURISER! I REALLY HOPE THEY WONT DISCONTINUE IT.....

After seeing all the great review here, I decided to go to London Drugs and give it a shot. While I really loved the silky feeling on my skin afterwards, the smell was disgusting! I must have gotten a bad batch or something, because all of the other reviews say that it is fragrance-free. Mine had a bitter acid smell, which is really gross. But since looking at all the reviews again of how it made your skin less shiny, I'm going to give it another try. Just hope it doesn't smell this time!
EDIT: I bought another bottle and I love it! Theres no gross smell anymore and it really does make my skin much much softer. I use it in the morning after I cleanse my face, and no more flaky skin! It also reduces the redness in my face so I don't have to use as much foundation. Yay!

I've been using this cream for over 10 years and I absolutely love it. Unlike my search for the perfect mascara, foundation, blush, etc., i have never strayed from this product because I knew there could be no better! I have very oily skin in the summer, and very dry skin in the winter, and this product works in every situation (you just put a little less or more depending on your needs). Doesn't clog pores, doesn't have any sort of smell, just feels nice all the time.

I am very, very pleased with this product. I have a very, VERY oily T-Zone, and I have been searching high and low, near and far for a product that will get rid of my ugly shinies. I swear, when someone takes my picture, you can see their reflection in the shimmering pool of grease on my forehead.
Anyways - I was searching p'ville for a nice oil-free moisturizer and I came across this little gem. There were so many positive reviews that I knew I had to give it a try. I'm very glad that I did.
Now, it doesn't get rid of ALL the oilies, but it does significantly reduce the shine on my face, and I can get through most of the day without having to blot with a tissue. (And let me tell you - I used to blot - a lot!) I don't use actual oil blotting sheets as I find that they CAUSE me to be more oily.
This lotion has really helped me. It doesn't cause me to break out - but then I rarely break out anyways. It absorbs very quickly, doesn't smell bad at all, and you get quite a lot in the bottle. And for $17 CDN, you can't go wrong.
I would highly recommend this lotion to any gal with oily skin.
