I have been using this pressed powder since 1998! A true HG! A must for oily skin gals!!
I use color Light/Medium and it lasts all day! Does not look cakey, gives a great matte finish! I will always use this as long as they keep selling it. MY HG!

I am not sure how many of these I have purchased but I LOVE this product. I have probably purchased around 5 to 6. This powder does not get cakey, shimmery or anything. Can be used for touchups throughout the day without looking cakey which is a huge thing for me.
I don't normally buy alot of Estee Lauder products but this one I cannot live without.
I normally buy the transparent. I really, really like this product. Great matt powder which does not accentuate any lines. It is not cheap but lasts a VERY long time. Six months or more sometimes. I only use this for touchups during the day but cannot say how great this is.

Strange enough, I've nearly missed this product though I am in constant search for a nice setting powder which will also control oil. It only came to my interest when I saw it with a discount and blind-ordered it in 02 Light/Medium hoping that it will deliver what it claims. I could have well missed it at all and remained unhappy.
Both came true: I like the color, it's good for my Dior 020 skin, 'cause I am not that pale to try 01 Light (or 1st grades) and definitely not tan enough for a 03 Medium (3rd grades in high-end foundations). I am somewhere in between, this color is a good match and settles to invisible coverage soon enough though shows upon application.
It also controls sebum. It goes on very flat (more gross than just matte) if applied with a sponge enclosed, but if applied with a large kabuki brush settles almost to perfection and doesn't feel dry. My complexion is quite choosy, while it neads a good sebum control, excess oil control results in immediate tinging sensation which I hate. If applied as recommended it will not emphasize those wrinkles you might be worried about at 40+.
My only gripe apart from the package which is not comfortable to use and doesn't look any luxe, as other reviewers mentioned, might be lack of SPF whatsoever. Not that it is an issue to me, I anyway use high SPF Korean BB creams as tinted moisturisers, but someone with better or just younger skin than mine would have benefited from SPF added, if worn alone.
Already booked for repurchase, might want to stock a couple with a good shelf life period to not get worried about sebum control anymore.

This is a nice powder that will give you light to medium coverage. But it really has nothing over a decent drugstore powder. This powder controlled my oil about as well as my E.L.F powder -- but it costs 10x more.

This powder is terrific, and I've not come across anything else that works as well on my very oily skin. I apply it lightly over foundation. Once or twice during the day I'll use a blotting paper and perhaps reapply the powder lightly again. No caking and no buildup of product. Finely milled, soft finish. I can't imagine this being a good choice for someone with dry skin as it's quite matte and designed to absorb oil. But for us oily gals, it's a great one to try.

I used this powder when I was a senior in high school. It's a good product but nothing special. The lady in the counter who "matched" the powder with my skin end up giving me a lighter color than my skin tone. I have acne prone skin and this product didn't broke me out and it did control my (used-to) oily t-zone. But like I sad it's not that special because there are other brands out there that do the same with a cheaper price.

I am one of those oily faces that Must. Wear. Powder. This goes on a touch heavily with the sponge puff and provides more coverage than an average powder - not foundation level, but useful if you need that kind of thing. I dusted some off my nose, where it went chalky. Light was a good match to my PPP skin. Very matte effect. After an indulgent foodie lunch that had fried things, I powdered up and was still reasonably matte 4 hours later, so I'm calling this a win.
This powder does highlight a wrinkle or two, as powder does, but the effect is rather marked. And the compact is irritating: hugely branded, larger than average - what inspired them, a Moon Pie? A flying saucer? - difficult to open, and fingerprints really easily. The only plus is the large mirror. I'm putting up with the compact for the sake of the powder, but I hope it gets a redesign.

I love this powder. I actually helps with oil, and makes my skin look amazing. Though it is expensive, but that never stops me!

I use this product over Smashbox Antishine and it has worked WONDERS for my skin. I absolutely recommend this powder over any other I have ever tried.
UPDATE: I'm deducting one lippie after a year because my skin tone has changed slightly and due to the limited number of shades, I can't get it in a shade that perfectly matches my skin tone anymore. If it happens to match your skin tone, it's fantastic.

Okay, so my mom doesn't want me to use drugstore brands of powder. I think i can convince her to let me after using this. I got it ONE SHADE to dark. This looks really bad, like i have a fake tan, okay thats my bad but i've used all of it because $38- no return policy, i'm getting my money's worth. well i'm in middle school and lets see i have PE right before lunch, every other day. when i go to the bathroom at lunch i literally have NO powder left on my face, lunch is three hours after the start of the day. THATS SO BOGUS!!! I would not really recommend this product if you want long-term coverage. But the three seconds you have it on before you get out the door to the bus, your face looks perfect. Sorry Estee Lauder, but this was a waste of money and a real debbie downer. :'(

I received this as a gift and while I don't have really oily skin and haven't used a powder in almost a year, I find that I do like this. I apply it with a brush over my Stila One Step and it blends beautifully, it makes my face look almost flawless, like it's been airbrushed. I love the big blue compact and the mirror is great. I'm not quite sure yet if this is a must have for me, but when and if it ever runs out - I only use a small amount over my foundation - I will probably considering re-purchasing.

I have tried the original one, the non-matte one, and I loved it! I loved the coverage and the texture of it but the only downside of it was that through out the day, it made my skin very oily, more oily than other powder that i have used but also didn't love because the coverage was not that great. The powder I used before my was HG but I had to buy other products to use under it to control my oil. I figure that with this new powder i would found my new fav since the oil will be control. Well....it did control my oil but not in a good way. The coverage was the same which was great! And it didn't make my skin oily, but it was super drying and super cakey. It made me look older and it was so dull. The texture is so dry that applying it was not that great. Though my skin wasn't oily, it made it look bad and obvious that I was wearing makeup. I would definitely prefer the original one much better. I will not recommend this for others and I would not repurchase.

While this isn't a horrible pressed powder, it certainly isn't too great either. I was looking for a replacement for my Origins Silk Screen, and since it is a bit harder to locate I decided to try this Estee Lauder one since I have terribly oily skin. I'm beginning to notice that every time I buy a powder geared towards people with oily skin, it is always dry and cakey plus it does not control oil any better. It is definitely true in this case. First off, the color selection is not so great. If you've got a medium beige, pinkish skin tone you should have no problem finding a color. But I have very fair, yellow toned skin and while the Light color looked good in the store, and home it looked a bit too pink. Plus, I didn't like how it applied to my skin. Yes, it made my skin matte, but it didn't give a soft focus finish, it just kind of sat there leaving my face looking dull. This powder reminds me very much of Cover Girl Clean Powder, they both produce the same effect. Except Cover Girl has a better shade selection!! In my opinion if you've got true oily skin there is no powder or foundation that can completely solve that. I've tried so many oil-controlling foundations and powders, and in the end I'm still left with a shiny face. So best to stick with things that you know work, even if it's not necessarily meant for oily skin. For me, that is Origins Silk Screen!!

My skin had a bad reaction to this and it oxidized. It felt heavy and cakey to me. My skin was even more oily.

I purchased this powder in "Translucent". I have purchased Estee Lauder powders and tons of other powders from other places before and I didn't feel like going through the speel of trying to get color-matched once again. So, i went with the color that I felt was the most safest to go with.
I have sensitive, combination-to-oily skin and powders are an absolute must for me. As, I will either wear a little powder and no base or oil control powder over my foundation base to help keep my skin's oil breakthru in check. And, this powder does wor k pretty good at doing just that. .
With the translucent shade, I don't get a look of oxidation to my face powder (where it looks shades darker than when I originally put it on). This powder keeps my face matte looking for approximately 3-4 hours before touchups are necessary. And, I love the fact that the compact is huge. So, there is enough powder in in one compact to last me for months and months to come.
This foundation retails for $26, which definitely does make it one of the pricier powders out there on the market. But, it is truly very effective at keeping the face matte. And, it never leaves the face with a masky, chalky look to the face either, as long as the sponge that comes in the compact is not used.
I like to use a brush to apply powder foundation. As, this allows for the powder foundation not to go on so harshly and end up looking caked on (which no body wants!).

My most FAV powder on this entire earth.
I have VERY oily skin, and this is just godsend!
I havn't tried their new "Double Wear"..and I often wonder why they turned "double matte" into "double wear"..I wonder if the double wear powder isn't as oil-controlling as the double "matte" one.
And if so, that's a shame..because I can only find this on ebay..which I intend to keep buying...double matte is for all those who want to look airbrushed, and no shine whatsoever..;)
The BEST powder. ;)

This is one of my staples. It's my go-to press powder after spending a bunch of money trying to find the perfect one. This is very close.
I use this with or without foundation and it's what I use with a fluffy brush to complete my face. I also carry one in my handbag for evening touch-ups. The powder also manages to make Bare Minerals look half way decent on my face. And best of all IT DOES NOT BREAK ME OUT!!!!

I started using this after i got greedy and wanted to try it and im so glad i did. Oily girls please do yourself a favor and get this. It does a superb job mattifying and i do not find it to thick at all as i dont layer it, i blot first when i get oily then reapply. I got level 4, medium deep and the color is great. It will become a staple and looks great over my prescriptives foundations.

I won't buy this product again because this compact will last me FOREVER! I use a small amount of this pressed powder, just on my oily parts. I carry this compact in my purse and the size of this mirror is better than any other compact that I have owned. I also like the amount of product enclosed. I prefer loose powders and I have about five different ones, so I don't see myself running out of powder any time soon. I have combo skin and since moving to California, my skin has become less oily than it once was. For oily-skinned people, I would say that EL's Double Matte Oil Control Pressed Powder would be highly effective. I only use a small amount and I don't have to reapply the entire day! There is no scent. I am very fair, but I have this in Light-Medium, Intensity 2 and it blends nicely. I can't think of a single bad thing to say about this product. It performs as it should and it is fairly-priced for the quality and amount of product you are getting.
